The current knowledge base lacks evidence about situational-and surface-level personality variables and their impacts on job embeddedness and proclivity to be absent from work.With this recognition,drawing from the hierarchical personality model and fit theory as well as job embeddedness theory,our paper explores the influences of job resourcefulness(JR)and customer orientation(CO)on job embeddedness and propensity to be absent from work.We tapped time-lagged data gathered from hotel customer-contact employees in the United Arab Emirates to assess the aforementioned linkages via structural equation modeling.CO is a complete mediator between JR and job embeddedness,while job embeddedness completely mediates the linkage between CO and absence intentions.Specifically,hotel employees who can work under a resource-depleted environment are high on CO and therefore display job embeddedness at elevated levels.In addition,customer-oriented hotel employees have higher job embeddedness and therefore exhibit lower absence intentions. 展开更多

A Health Impairment Process of Sickness Presenteeism in Norwegian Physicians: The Mediating Role of Exhaustion

Although work factors have been associated with both presenteeism and exhaustion among hospital physicians, we lack knowledge on the dynamic relationship between demands in the work context and presenteeism and how this can be mediated by symptoms of exhaustion when controlling for job resources. The objective of this study is to examine a health impairment process of presenteeism among university hospital physicians. A cross-sectional survey of 545 university hospital physicians in Norway was conducted. Variables included in the model were presenteeism, exhaustion, work-family conflict, role conflict, social support and control over work pace. Findings from structural equation modeling indicated that exhaustion mediates the relationship between job demands and presenteeism. Job resources had no direct effect on presenteeism in the hypothesized model. The variables in the study explained 17% of the variance in presenteeism. The study is one of the first to demonstrate that the relationship between job demands and presenteeism is mediated by exhaustion when controlling for job resources. The results highlight the importance of considering the link between health symptoms and job demands to reduce the negative effects of presenteeism. 展开更多

At the same time, in the area of co-allocation, heterogeneity, network adaptability and scalability raise the challenge for the international design of multisite job scheduling models and algorithms. It presents multisite job scheduling schema through the introduction of multisite job scheduling model and the performance model under the grid environment. It introduces two job multisite and cooperative scheduling models and algorithms with the core of the optimal and greedy-heuristic resource selection strategies. Meanwhile, compared with single and multisite cooperative scheduling models and algorithms introduced by Sabin, Yahyapour and other persons, the validity and advance of the scheduling model and the performance model herein are proved. 展开更多
