The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)satellite is a small magnetosphere–ionosphere link explorer developed cooperatively between China and Europe.It pioneers the use of X-ray imaging technology to perform large-scale imaging of the Earth’s magnetosheath and polar cusp regions.It uses a high-precision ultraviolet imager to image the overall configuration of the aurora and monitor changes in the source of solar wind in real time,using in situ detection instruments to improve human understanding of the relationship between solar activity and changes in the Earth’s magnetic field.The SMILE satellite is scheduled to launch in 2025.The European Incoherent Scatter Sciences Association(EISCAT)-3D radar is a new generation of European incoherent scatter radar constructed by EISCAT and is the most advanced ground-based ionospheric experimental device in the high-latitude polar region.It has multibeam and multidirectional quasi-real-time three-dimensional(3D)imaging capabilities,continuous monitoring and operation capabilities,and multiple-baseline interferometry capabilities.Joint detection by the SMILE satellite and the EISCAT-3D radar is of great significance for revealing the coupling process of the solar wind–magnetosphere–ionosphere.Therefore,we performed an analysis of the joint detection capability of the SMILE satellite and EISCAT-3D,analyzed the period during which the two can perform joint detection,and defined the key scientific problems that can be solved by joint detection.In addition,we developed Web-based software to search for and visualize the joint detection period of the SMILE satellite and EISCAT-3D radar,which lays the foundation for subsequent joint detection experiments and scientific research. 展开更多

Stability and oscillations in a slow-fast flexible joint system with transformation delay 被引量:8

Flexible joints are usually used to transfer velocities in robot systems and may lead to delays in motion transformation due to joint flexibility. In this paper, a linkrotor structure connected by a flexible joint or shaft is firstly modeled to be a slow-fast delayed system when moment of inertia of the lightweight link is far less than that of the heavy rotor. To analyze the stability and oscillations of the slowfast system, the geometric singular perturbation method is extended, with both slow and fast manifolds expressed analytically. The stability of the slow manifold is investigated and critical boundaries are obtained to divide the stable and the unstable regions. To study effects of the transformation delay on the stability and oscillations of the link, two quantitatively different driving forces derived from the negative feedback of the link are considered. The results show that one of these two typical driving forces may drive the link to exhibit a stable state and the other kind of driving force may induce a relaxation oscillation for a very small delay. However, the link loses stability and undergoes regular periodic and bursting oscillation when the transformation delay is large. Basically, a very small delay does not affect the stability of the slow manifold but a large delay affects substantially. 展开更多

A new 3D velocity model of the crust and upper mantle in the southeastern (SE) margin of the Tibetan plateau was obtained by joint inversion of body- and sur- face-wave data. For the body-wave data, we used 7190 events recorded by 102 stations in the SE margin of the Tibetan plateau. The surface-wave data consist of Rayleigh wave phase velocity dispersion curves obtained from ambient noise cross-correlation analysis recorded by a dense array in the SE margin of the Tibetan plateau. The joint inversion clearly improves the Vs model because it is constrained by both data types. The results show that at around 10 km depth there are two low-velocity anomalies embedded within three high-velocity bodies along the Longmenshan fault system. These high-velocity bodies correspond well with the Precambrian massifs, and the two located to the northeast of 2013 Ms 7.0 Lushan earthquake are associated with high fault slip areas during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. The aftershock gap between 2013 Lushan earthquake and 2008 Wenchuan earthquake is associated with low-velocity anomalies, which also acts as a barrier zone for ruptures of two earthquakes. Generally large earthquakes (M 〉 5) in the region occurring from 2008 to 2015 are located around the high-velocity zones, indicating that they may act as asperities for these large earthquakes. Joint inversion results also clearly show that there exist low-velocity or weak zones in the mid-lower crust, which are not evenly distributed beneath the SE margin of Tibetan plateau. 展开更多

Motion planning for redundant prismatic-jointed manipulators in the free-floating mode

This paper investigates the motion planning of redundant free-floating manipulators with seven prismatic joints. On the earth, prismatic-jointed manipulators could only position their end-effectors in a desired way. However, in space, the end-effectors of free-floating manipulators can achieve both the desired orientation and desired position due to the dynamical coupling between manipulator and satellite movement, which is formally expressed by linear and angular momentum conservation laws. In this study, a tractable algorithm particle swarm optimization combined with differential evolution (PSODE) is provided to deal with the motion planning of redundant free-floating prismatic-jointed manipulators, which could avoid the pseudo inverse of the Jacobian matrix. The polynomial functions, as argument in sine functions are used to specify the joint paths. The co- efficients of the polynomials are optimized to achieve the desired end-effector orientation and position, and simulta- neously minimize the unit-mass-kinetic energy using the redundancy. Relevant simulations prove that this method pro- vides satisfactory smooth paths for redundant free-floating prismatic-jointed manipulators. This study could help to recognize the advantages of redundant prismatic-jointed space manipulators. 展开更多

Tornadoes can destroy or severely damage physical infrastructure including buildings in a community.This can result in direct losses but also indirect losses such as the closure of key social institutions reverberating further through the community(e.g.,schools).Despite significant losses in past events,building codes and standards have not previously included tornado hazards because of the relatively low probability of a direct strike.The recent release of the ASCE 7-22 standard considers tornadoes for Risk Category 3 and 4 buildings,i.e.ranging from schools to critical facilities.This study proposes a series of design combinations of a reinforced masonry school building with different performance targets intended to enable schools to reopen sooner.Tornado fragilities were developed for a school building having improved designs using tornado loads determined based on the new tornado chapter in ASCE 7-22,and then integrated into a community level model with school attendance zones to examine the effect.The ultimate goal in this study is to investigate the effect of improving school building designs would have on maintaining school continuity(and more rapid return)for school children. 展开更多

The Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) process of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) have been analysed using the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) methodology. The oil spill Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) is empowered by the Oil Spill Recovery, Clean-up, Remediation and Damage Assessment Reulations, 2011 Section 5. The strength of the JIV process lies within its participatory nature and the well defined legal structure of the process. The oil spill Joint Investigation Visit process in Nigeria has several weaknesses—lack of independence and oversight, lack of technical competence on the part of regulatory bodies, lack of technical competence on the part of community representative, lack of transparency on the part of oil companies, lack of general procedure for determining the actual cause of spill, lack of general procedure for determining the actual volume of oil spilled, determination on the size of the impacted area and exclusion of women from the JIV Process. The JIV process for oil spill presents a number of opportunities such as;increasing community awareness, growing consciousness through Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and capacity building of stakeholders. Possible threats to the JIV process include;poor governance and corruption, manipulation of the Process by the spiller through the start date of an oilspill and obvious lack of transparency. Improved effectiveness of the JIV process will depend on strengthening of government agency coordination, integrated decision-making adequate training to various stakeholders and supporting infrastructure for purposeful monitoring and enforcement. 展开更多

Objective: Significance of combined detection of serum 25(OH)D3, hsa-miR-17-5p and HCV-RNA in diagnosis of hepatitis C disease. Methods: A total of 52 patients with benign ovarian tumor resection were selected from April 2016 to April 2018 in our hospital. We paid attention to the implementation of perioperative nursing intervention, and observed the prognosis and the occurrence of adverse reactions. Results: The expression of hsa-mir-17-5p in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the expression of 25(OH)D3 was lower than that in the control group, the expression of hsa-mir-17-5p in the HCV-RNA positive group was higher than that in the HCV-RNA negative group, and the expression of 25(OH) D3 was lower than that in the HCV-RNA negative group. The expression of HCV-RNA in the observation group was positively and negatively correlated with the expression of 25(OH) D3 and hsa-mir-17-5p in the 25(OH)D3 and the critical values of serum 25 (OH)D3, hsa-mir-17-5p and HCV-RNA were 24.23 ug/L, 1.89 relative expression and 1.22 × 103 IU/mL, respectively. The area of AUC detected by hsa-miR-17-5p+ 25 (OH) D3+25(OH)D3 is larger than that detected separately. Conclusion: The combined detection of serum 25(OH)D3, hsa-mir-17-5p and HCV-RNA has high diagnostic efficiency and sensitivity for hepatitis C. It is suggested that they be used in clinical practice. 展开更多

The Sichuan-Yunnan area is located at the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau,where tectonic movement is strong with deep and large faults distributed in a staggered manner,which results in strong seismic activities and severe earthquake hazards.Since the 21st century,several earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or above occurred in this region,which have caused huge casualties and economic losses,especially the 2008 M_(s)8.0 Wenchuan earthquake.At present,earthquake monitoring and source parameter inversion,strong earthquake hazard analysis and disaster assessment are still the focus of seismological researches in the Sichuan-Yunnan region.Regional high-precision 3D community velocity models are fundamental for these studies.In this paper,by assembling seismic observations at permanent seismic stations and several temporary dense seismic arrays in this region,we obtained about 7.06 million body wave travel time data(including absolute and differential travel times)using a newly developed artificial intelligence body wave arrival time picking method and about 100,000 Rayleigh wave phase velocity dispersion data in the period range of 5-50 s from ambient noise cross-correlation technique.Based on this abundant dataset,we obtained the three-dimensional high resolution V_p and V_(s)model in the crust and uppermost mantle of southwest(SW)China by adopting the joint body and surface wave travel time tomography method considering the topography effect starting from the first version of community velocity model in SW China(SWChina CVM-1.0).Compared to SWChina CVM-1.0,this newly determined velocity model has higher resolution and better data fitness.It is accepted by the China Seismic Experimental Site as the second version of the community velocity model in SW China(SWChina CVM-2.0).The new model shows strong lateral heterogeneities in the shallow crust.Two disconnected low velocity zones are observed in the middle to lower crust,which is located in the Songpan-Ganzi block and the northern Chuandian block to the west of the Longmenshan-Lijiang-Xiaojinhe fault,and beneath the Xiaojiang fault zone,respectively.The inner zone of the Emeishan large igneous province(ELIP)exhibits a high velocity anomaly,which separates the two aforementioned low velocity anomalies.Low velocity anomaly is also shown beneath the Tengchong volcano.The velocity structures in the vicinity of the 2008 M_(s)8.0 Wenchuan earthquake,the 2013 M_(s)7.0Lushan earthquake and the 2017 M_(s)7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake mainly show high V_(p)and V_(s)anomalies and the mainshocks are basically located at the transition zone between the high and low velocity anomalies.Along with the segmentation characteristics of seismic activity,we suggest that areas with significant changes in velocity structures,especially in active fault zones,might have a greater potential to generate moderate to strong earthquakes. 展开更多

Purpose:This study aimed to understand the joint standard of blood glucose,blood li-pids,and blood pressure in elderly patients>60 years of age with type 2 diabetes in the Beijing Yongding Road Community.Methods:One hundred ninety-two elderly patients>60 years of age who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Yongding Road Community served as the investigation subjects,under-went standard management,and the dynamic changes in blood glucose,blood lipids,and blood pressure were monitored for 48 months.Results:At the end of the observation period,the standard rates of fasting blood glucose and postprandial blood glucose were 72.55%and 80.00%,respectively,which were increased compared with 55.73%and 56.08%at baseline(P<0.01).The standard rate of HbA1c was 59.81%,which was increased compared with 53.44%at baseline(P>0.05).The standard rates of TG and LDL-C were 76.71%and 60.38%,respectively,which were increased compared with 54.69%and 34.74%at base-line,and the standard rate of HDL-C was 13.64%,which was decreased compared with 40.10%at baseline(P<0.01).The standard rate of BP was 58.33%,which was increased compared with 38.54%at baseline(P<0.01).The optimal control rate of blood glucose for 48 months(the standard times of the total measurement times in 48 months≥75%)was higher;the fasting blood glucose was 52.17%,the 2-h postprandial blood glucose was 60.22%,and the HbA1c was 46.45%.The optimal control rate of blood lipids was lower;LDL-C was 17.49%and HDL-C was 13.59%.The optimal control rate of BP was 9.13%.At the end of the observation period,the levels of fasting blood glucose and postprandial blood glucose were decreased by 0.7 mmol/L and 1.48 mmol/L,respectively,compared with the base-line(P<0.01).The level of HbA1c was decreased by 0.18%compared with the baseline(P<0.05).The levels of LDL-C and HDL-C were decreased by 0.4 mmol/L and 0.23 mmol/L,respectively,compared with the baseline(P<0.01).The levels of SBP and DBP were decreased by 4 mmHg compared with the baseline(P<0.01).At the end of the observation period,the joint standard rate of the three indices of HbA1c,LDL-C,and BP was 24.72%,which was increased compared with 6.25%at baseline(P<0.01).Conclusion:Standardized management of elderly patients with diabetes in the Community can improve the joint standard rate of blood glucose,blood lipids,and blood pressure.The op-timal control rate and joint standard rate are the important indices for evaluating the quality of diabetes management. 展开更多

In the experiment,five known damage patterns,including 3 brace damage cases and 2 joint damage cases,were simulated by removing braces and weakening beam鈥揷olumn connections in the structure. The limited acceleration response data generated by hammer impact were used for system identification,and modal parameters were extracted by using the eigensystem realization algorithm. In the first stage,the possible damaged locations are determined by using the damage index and the characteristics of the analytical model itself,and the extent of damage for those substructures identified at stage I is estimated in the second stage by using a second-order eigen-sensitivity approximation method. The main contribution of this paper is to test the two-stage method by using the real dynamic data of a complicated spatial model structure with limited sensors. The analysis results indicate that the two-stage approach is ableto detect the location of both damage cases,only the severity of brace damage cases can be assessed,and the reasonable analytical model is critical for successful damage detection. 展开更多

Perceptive insight into incentive design and sustainability of participatory mangrove management: a case study from the Indian Sundarbans

Incentive design is among the decisive factors behind active community participation and long-term sustainability of participatory forest management. Especially in case of mangroves, where multiple interests apply, it requires a careful integration of several ecological, economic and institutional factors. The primary objective of this paper is to understand the basis of incentive design and make a comprehensive inquiry into the existing incentive mechanism of participatory mangrove management in Indian Sundarbans. The qualitative and in-depth assessment was derived against a conceptual framework that contains three main determinants: (1) resources availability, (2) control mechanism, and (3) perception of end-users. The study deploys the results of various participatory exercises such as structured interviews with forest officials, focus group discussions with 10 Joint Forest Management Committees and semi-structured interviews with 119 mangrove users. In general, we observed an over-cautious, hierarchical and safety-margin-based incentive design with distinct bifurcation of communities over the adequacy and effectiveness of derived benefits. Although, the incentives are diverse and align well with the overall conservation of mangroves, they are considered to be insufficient by nearly half of the mangrove users. The main issues that were observed to hinder effective community participation can be summarized as (1) serious restrictions on access to economically exploitable mangrove products, (2) passive involvement of vulnerable occupational groups, and (3) lack of trust and conflicting interests between the officials and the communities. Although the existing preventive management of mangroves can be justified considering the magnanimity of the Indian Sundarbans, it can severely impair community participation and emerge as a clear threat to future sustainability. To secure greater participation of the communities, we propose small scale, innovative developmental incentives to supplement traditional forest-resource-based incentives. 展开更多

Disrupting effects of pollutants on symbiotic microbiota have been regarded as an important mechanism of host toxicity,with most current research focusing on the intestinal microbiota.In fact,the epidermal microbiota,which participates in the nutrient exchange between hosts and environments,could play a crucial role in host toxicity via community changes.To compare the contributions of intestinal and epidermal symbiotic microorganisms to host toxicity,this study designed single and combined scenarios of soil contamination[nano zerovalent iron(nZVI)and tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate(TCEP)],and revealed the coupling mechanisms between intestinal/epidermal symbiotic bacterial communities and earthworm toxicological endpoints.Microbiome analysis showed that 15%of intestinal microbes were highly correlated with host endpoints,compared to 45%of epidermal microbes showing a similar correlation.Functional comparisons revealed that key species on the epidermis were mainly heterotrophic microbes with genetic abilities to utilize metal elements and carbohydrate nutrients.Further verifications demonstrated that when facing the co-contamination of nZVI and TCEP,certain symbiotic microorganisms became dominant and consumed zinc,copper,and manganese along with saccharides and amino acids,which may be responsible for the nutritional deficiencies in the host earthworms.The findings can enrich the understanding of the coupling relationship between symbiotic microorganisms and host toxicity,highlighting the importance of epidermal microorganisms in host resistance to environmental pollution. 展开更多

It has been documented that human activities are causing the rapid loss of taxonomic, phylogenetic, genetic and functional diversity in soils. However, it remains unclear how modern intensive rice cultivation impacts the soil microbiome and its functionality. Here we examined the microbial composition and function differences between a buried Neolithic paddy soil and an adjacent, currently-cultivated paddy soil using high throughput metagenomics technologies. Our results showed that the currently cultivated soil contained about 10-fold more microbial biomass than the buried one. Analyses based on both 16S rRNA genes and functional gene array showed that the currently cultivated soil had significantly higher phylogenetic diversity, but less functional diversity than the buried Neolithic one. The community structures were significantly different between modern and ancient soils, with functional structure shifting towards accelerated organic carbon (C) degradation and nitrogen (N) transfor- mation in the modem soils. This study implies that, modern intensive rice cultivation has substantially altered soil microbial functional structure, leading to functional homogenization and the promotion of soil ecological functions related to the acceleration of nutrient cycling which is necessary for high crop yields. 展开更多

Traditionally,the Common Law System exercises a legal separation of marital property regime between husband and wife;this regime still has interpretation theory value for functional comparison to that of China.The husband-wife personality integration in the early days of the Common Law System goes back to the original agency of necessity similar to that of the daily family agency of the Civil Law System;the aim was to strengthen marital coherence rather than protect creditors.The“daily family needs”should beidentifiedwithoutexcluding the husband-and-wife separation period,and be based on the consumption level during the time that a couple have lived together.The current mainstream mode of the Common Law System starts from the“Consensual Approach”under the legal regime of separation of property between husband and wife,and limits the“Purpose Theory”to cases of insufficient consensual evidence.Moreover,thismainstream mode is supplemented by the“Presumption Theory”that only exists as a method of proof,and is similar to the current Chinese position of co-debt and co-signing.When a nondebtor consents a debtor to borrow money in the name of husband and wife,this consent can be used as a yardstick to determine their marital community debt and to identify the nature of various debts in the context of marital community debt. 展开更多
