Aiming at the defects of the products available on the market at present and basing on the Kansei Engineering and Ergonomics, a new kind of student apartment bed which can prove its humanity more clearly is designed, and its design direction is gotten through the questionnaire and the design starts from the real actual needs of students. After the original design was finished, the later investigation on the students was engaged with and made the engineering analysis. The conclusion is that the sum of "perfect" and "good" membership rates is up to 64%, hence the comprehensive assessment of the design is perfect. That is to say, this design is able to realize and meet the needs of users, and there is no doubt that it will have a good business prospects. 展开更多

This paper argues that agent-based simulation can be used as a way for testing Kansei Engineering methods which deal with the human reaction from sensory to mental state, that is, sensitivity, sense, sensibility, feeling, esthetics, emotion affection and intuition. A new fuzzy linear quantification method is tested in an artificial world by agent-based modeling and simulations, and the performance of the fuzzy linear method is compared with that of a genetic algorithm. The simulations can expand people's imagination and enhance people's intuition that the new fuzzy linear quantification method is effective. 展开更多

Some content-based retrieval technologies are indispensable to find out particular data from such anonymous datasets. Though several shape retrieval technologies have been developed, little attention has been given to the points on human's sense and impression (as known as Kansei) in the conventional techniques, In this paper, the authors propose a novel method of shape retrieval based on shape impression of human's Kansei. The key to the method is the Gaussian curvature distribution from 3D models as features for shape retrieval. Then it classifies the 3D models by extracted feature and measures similarity among models in storage. 展开更多

With changing customer attitudes toward consumption and function homogenization,product appearance designs have an increasing influence on the purchase decision.Customer characteristics and emotional factors play an important role here.This study proposes a novel approach for modelling satisfaction and accomplishing a configuration that overcomes the limitations of conventional methods to precisely predict satisfaction,provide optimal product recommendations,and advise manufacturers on product appearance design.The newly proposed approach considers satisfaction,clusters customers through the Kansei perspective,and constructs a satisfaction model for each cluster.Additionally,the study employs data mining to understand the basic design principles and conflicted combinations that must be followed and avoided,respectively.The bidirectional association rules-constrained genetic algorithm is presented to limit configuration freedom,ensuring that results are in the range of control.Comparing prediction errors and recommended sample votes between the novel and conventional approaches revealed the presented approach’s efficiency and accuracy,thereby providing suggestions for manufacturers to make precise decisions on launching new product appearance designs through predicting customer emotional satisfaction. 展开更多

It had a prosperous time in the last decades; however it has been shrinking recently due to the changes of lifestyle or the appearance of more functional products. Compared with the function, the brand image and style of products have become much more important in purchasing; "moreover, technology is no longer the sole driving force in the development of products. As the spread of marketing appealing to consumers' emotion, many methods treating human's feeling have been developed and applied in many fields. Since human's emotion has both linear and non-linear characteristics, and it is changing by every moment, a method which fits better is essential. This paper develops a new evaluation model by comparing statistical, fuzzy and pseudo-fuzzy approaches based-on an emotional evaluation database to find a better approach for recommendation of products. 展开更多

Conveying consumers’specific emotions in new products,referred to as emotional product development or emotional design,is strategically crucial for manufacturers.Given that sentiment analysis(SA)can extract and analyze people’s opinions,sentiments,attitudes,and perceptions regarding different products/services,SA-based emotional design may provide manufacturers with real-time,direct,and rapid decision support.Despite its considerable advancements and numerous survey and review articles,SA is seldom considered in emotional design.This study is among the first efforts to conduct a thorough review of SA from the view of emotional design.The comprehensive review of aspect-level SA reveals the following:1)All studies focus on extracting product features by mixing technical product features and consumers’emotional perceptions.Consequently,such studies cannot capture the relationships between technical and emotional attributes and thus cannot convey specific emotions to the new products.2)Most studies use the English language in SA,but other languages have recently received more interest in SA.Furthermore,after conceptualizing emotion as Kansei and introducing emotional product development and Kansei Engineering,a review of the data-driven emotional design is then conducted.A few efforts start to study emotional design with the help of SA.However,these studies only focus on either analyzing consumers’preferences on product features or extracting emotional opinions from online reviews,thus cannot realize data-driven emotional product development.Finally,some research opportunities are provided.This study opens a broad door to aspect-level SA and its integration with emotional product development. 展开更多
