The solvent extraction of trace gold(Ⅰ) from alkaline cyanide solution by CTAB/TBP system was investigated using a new extraction equipment.The results demonstrated that the addition of CTAB in aqueous phase could en...The solvent extraction of trace gold(Ⅰ) from alkaline cyanide solution by CTAB/TBP system was investigated using a new extraction equipment.The results demonstrated that the addition of CTAB in aqueous phase could enhance the gold(Ⅰ) extraction rate of TBP sharply.The extraction of 20L alkaline cyanide solutions in two extraction columns showed that the extraction percentage was more than 91%,and the gold mass concentration of raffinate was less than 0.8ppm in the all process of extraction.Gold(Ⅰ) Stripping from loaded organic phase by KSCN was also studied.Almost all of gold in loaded CTAB/TBP could be stripped into aqueous phase by 3mol/L KSCN solutions for three times stripping.展开更多

A total of 1025 flocks including 5255 bi...This paper reports observations of flocking behavior of birds in a well-protected secondary forest in Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China. A total of 1025 flocks including 5255 birds and 48 species were observed between October 2002 and November 2003. Most flocks consisted of only one species. The observed flocks averaged 1.79 +/- 0.05 (SE) species and 5.13 +/- 0.18 (SE) birds. The Japanese White-eye was the most numerous species and was present in 21.6% of the observed flocks. Seasonal trends in both flock size and number of species were similar to those in overall bird density and species richness in the study area reported in a previous study.展开更多
The first"modern"type of vehicular bridge was built in Hong Kong China in the 1920s.The need for an efficient transportation system to cope with population growth and enable economic development has demanded...The first"modern"type of vehicular bridge was built in Hong Kong China in the 1920s.The need for an efficient transportation system to cope with population growth and enable economic development has demanded the construction of more and more bridges since the middle of the 20th century.By 2007,Hong Kong had a total of about 1300 vehicular bridges.Four of these bridges,including the Tsing Ma Bridge,Kap Shui Mun Bridge,Ting Kau Bridge,and the cable-stayed bridge on the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor,are considered to be major bridges supported by cables.Currently,the Stonecutters Bridge on Route No.8 is under construction and is expected to be completed in late 2009.At the same time,the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be in its detailed design stage soon.While efforts have been made by bridge builders to construct these giant structures,the upkeeping of these valuable assets at a high standard and ensuring their continuous functioning and performance during their intended lifespans will be another important task for bridge engineers.Wind and structural health monitoring system(WASHMS)will play a key role in this respect.展开更多
