The objective of this study was to develop regression prediction models for tree age, tree height, crown diameter, crown ratio and crown depth for A. senegal growing in Ferlo, in the northern Senegal. Four plantations of different years old (ISRA, 10 years old plantations, Ndodj, 8 years old plantations, Boulal, 5 years old plantations and Déali, 4 years old plantations) were selected. The following dendometric variables: crown height, crown diameter, stem diameter at the breast height, stem basal diameter (at 0.30 m) and the height from the tree base to first branch were measured on a total of 489 trees. The results suggested that the ecological structure of the different year old A. Senegal plantation revealed a bell-shaped form with left dissymmetric distribution indicating a predominance of individuals with small diameter at breast height. Allometry study of A. Senegal showed highly significant positive correlations (p = 0.00) between stem diameter at breast height, stem basal diameter, tree height, crown diameter and crown depth. Positive correlations were also found between crown diameter, tree height and crown height. Prediction models derived from these relationships can be used to estimate the tree height, stem diameter at breast height and crown depth from crown diameter with greater precision. As for A. Senegal age estimation, the established model is not strong as it can explain only 49.1% of the age variation.展开更多

[Method]The situs was in Danzhou city, western region of Hainan Island, and the samples were four kinds of rubber plantations soil at different ages and one kind of control check (pepper,Piper nigrum L.) soil. In this research, four quadrats were set up in each sample, and the size of each was 20 cm×20 cm. Four specimens were gathered from four layers of 0-15,15-30,30-45,45-60,and the average of them was the last analysis result of each sample. Soil density was measured by cutting ring method, soil containing and hygroscopic water was detected by oven drying method, soil organic carbon (SOC) was measured by low temperature heated outside potassium dichromate oxidation-colorimetry method, and soil total nitrogen (STN) was detected by semimicro Kjeldahl method. [Result]SOC contents of different layers in rubber plantations soil at different age stages (including the CK pepper soil, the same as below) varied little, and the content of SOC in surface layer (0-15 cm) was higher, while the underlayer (45-60 cm) was lower than the average value; there was significant difference in SOC content among different kinds of soil, and the content was of 6.03-7.78 g/kg,tapping young trees (7 years) CK pepper mature age trees (30 years) prophase of young trees (2 years) tapping trees (16 years); there was no significant difference in SOC storage among different kinds of soil, and the storage was of 61.33-74.29 t/hm2,mature age trees (30 years) tapping young trees (7 years) prophase of young trees (2 years) CK pepper tapping trees (16 years); there was significant difference in STN content among rubber plantations soil at different age stages, the content was of 410.86-664.14 mg/kg2,CK pepper tapping young trees (7 years) prophase of young trees (2 years) mature age trees (30 years) tapping trees (16 years),and STN content of tapping trees (16 years) soil was extremely lowest; there was significant difference in C/N ratio among different kinds of soil, the ratio was of 10.94-14.47,and the ratio of tapping trees (16 years) mature age trees (30 years) tapping young trees (7 years) CK pepper prophase of young trees (2 years). [Conclusion]There wasn't unhealthy effect of rubber trees planted in tropical area on the content and storage of SOC,the content of STN and the ratio of C/N. there was no significant difference between rubber plantations and CK pepper soil, and the effects of rubber plantation on soil carbon-nitrogen was similar to that of other tropical crops (such as pepper).展开更多

They play a key role in plant restraining biotic and abiotic harm. To illuminate activities of some defense proteins associated with age or plant family of larch, the larch needles were collected from two different families of Korean larch, Larix olgensis and a hybrid larch, L. kaempferi × L. gmelinii, respectively, and then the activities of defence proteins in those were tested using a UV spectrophotometry. The results showed that the activities of protective enzymes at thel6-/17- and 19-year-age groups were higher than those at the other age groups in the both larch species. While the activities of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) at the 16-/17-year-age group and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) and protease inhibitors at the 19-year-age group were the highest among all age groups. Then, compared with L. olgensis, the hybrid larch had significant effects on the activities of protective enzymes. The effects of plant family on the activities of PAL and chymotrypsin inhibitor were significantly different, and then those on the activities of PPO were not significantly different. The effects of the two families in L. olgensis on the activities of trypsin inhibitor (TI) were significantly different, while those in the hybrid larch on the activities of TI were contrary. To conclusions showed that the different age and plant family significantly affected the activities of defence proteins in the needles of two larch species, and then enhanced the larch resistance to pests. These could play a key function in forestry tree genetic improvement and management in future.展开更多

The goal was to assess diversity and determine the influence of the environment on the composition of these organisms. Sampling was done using pitfall traps, threshing and manual collection. A total of 82 ant species were sampled on all plots. The cultivated plots are richer in ant species than the natural environment. Of the three (3) sampling methods, the Manual Collection proved to be more efficient (eff = 79.52%), followed by threshing (eff = 75.15%) and finally the least effective trap pit (eff = 73.39%). The number of individuals of the species varies according to the environment. The highest value was obtained in the young plot (485 individuals), followed by the intermediate plot (478 individuals), then the older plot (426 individuals) and finally the control plot (320 individuals). The species Camponotus acvapimensis was harvested mainly with 159 individuals. On the other hand, the species Lepisiota sp.1;Camponotus rufigenis, Camponotus sericeus and Oecophylla longinoda were specifically harvested in the control, young, intermediate and aged plots, respectively.展开更多

文摘Discerning vulnerability differences among different aged trees to drought-driven growth decline or to mortality is critical to implement age-specific countermeasures for forest management in water-limited areas. An important species for afforestation in dry environments of northern China,Mongolian pine(Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica Litv.)has recently exhibited growth decline and dieback on many sites, particularly pronounced in old-growth plantations. However, changes in response to drought stress by this species with age as well as the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. In this study,tree-ring data and remotely sensed vegetation data were combined to investigate variations in growth at individual tree and stand scales for young(9-13 years)and aging(35-52 years)plantations of Mongolian pine in a water-limited area of northern China.A recent decline in tree-ring width in the older plantation also had lower values in satellited-derived normalized difference vegetation indices and normalized difference water indices relative to the younger plantations. In addition, all measured growth-related metrics were strongly correlated with the self-calibrating Palmer drought severity index during the growing season in the older plantation.Sensitivity of growth to drought of the older plantation might be attributed to more severe hydraulic limitations,as reflected by their lower sapwood-and leaf-specific hydraulic conductivities. Our study presents a comprehensive view on changes of growth with age by integrating multiple methods and provides an explanation from the perspective of plant hydraulics for growth decline with age.The results indicate that old-growth Mongolian pine plantations in water-limited environments may face increased growth declines under the context of climate warming and drying.

文摘[Objective]The aim was to study on the characteristics of soil organic carbon and nitrogen in rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Muell-Arg) plantations at different age stages in the western region of Hainan Island,so as to evaluate the ecological benefits of rubber plantations and provide basic data for studying the effect of tropical land utilization/cover change on the global carbon and nitrogen cycle. [Conclusion]There wasn't unhealthy effect of rubber trees planted in tropical area on the content and storage of SOC,the content of STN and the ratio of C/N. there was no significant difference between rubber plantations and CK pepper soil, and the effects of rubber plantation on soil carbon-nitrogen was similar to that of other tropical crops (such as pepper).

文摘Global warming causes an unstable response in tree radial growth at high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere.Additionally, different climatic responses of different age groups of trees have been found due to their different physiological mechanisms. In this study, the response stability and growth trend of three age groups(young<100 a,middle 100-200 a,old≥200 a)of Picea schrenkiana(Schrenk spruce)to climate change and the causes of the different responses in different age groups were analyzed in the relatively dry climate of the eastern Tianshan Mountains. The results showed that:(1)With the abrupt increase in temperature in 1989,the annual mean minimum temperature became the dominant radial growth-limiting factor of the three age groups of Schrenk spruce.(2)The radial growth of the middle and young groups was more sensitive than that of the old group based on growth-climate correlation analysis.(3)The radial growth of the different age groups had different responses to climate factors, and all age groups were unstable on time scales.(4)The trend of the linear regression simulation of the basal area increment(BAI)indicated that the Schrenk spruce had the same growth trends in different age groups with growth first increased and then decreased;however, the decreased growth rate was higher in the middle and young age groups than in the old age group after the abrupt increase in temperature. Therefore,we should pay active attention to the impact of drought on Schrenk spruce in the eastern Tianshan Mountains and should particularly strengthen the conservation and management of the middle and young age groups.

文摘Ecological stoichiometry is an important indicator of biogeochemical cycles and nutrient limitations in terrestrial ecosystems. However, little is known about the response of ecological stoichiometry to plant growth. In this study, carbon(C),nitrogen(N),and phosphorus(P)concentrations were evaluated in plant tissues(trees, shrubs, and herbs),litter, and soil of young(≤40-year-old),middle-aged(41–60-year-old),near-mature(61–80-year-old),and mature(81–120-year-old)Quercus secondary forests on the Loess Plateau,China.Vegetation composition, plant biomass, and C stock were determined to illustrate their interaction with stoichiometry.Only tree biomass C signifi cantly increased with stand development.Leaf N and trunk P concentrationsgenerally increased, but branch P decreased with growth stage.Fine roots had the highest C and P concentrations at the middle-aged stage. In contrast, shrubs, herbs, litter, and soil C:N:P stoichiometry did not change signifi cantly during stand development.Leaf N and P were positively correlated with soil C,N,P,and their ratios. However, there was no signifi cant correlation between litter and leaves in terms of C:N:P stoichiometry.A redundancy analysis showed that soil N best explained leaf N and P variance, and tree biomass and C stock were related to biotic factors such as tree age and shrub biomass.Hierarchical partitioning analysis indicated that, compared with soil or litter variables, stand age only accounted for a relatively small proportion of leaf C,N,and P variation. Thus, secondary Quercus ecosystems might have inherent ability to maintain sensitive responses of metabolically active organs to environmental factors during stand aging. The results of this work help to elucidate the biogeochemical cycling of secondary forest ecosystems in tree development, provide novel insights into the adaptation strategies of plants in diff erent organs and growth stages, and could be used to guide fertilization programs and optimize forest structure.
文摘Through analysis on materials, the fitting empirical equation for growth process of Pinus tabuliformis was obtained, i.e. , the function with increment as variable and time as the independent variable. The mature age of P. tabuliformis was obtained by mathematical operation. The mature age of forest plantation was determined as 61 a, and that of public welfare forest was 81 a. And P. tabuliformis age groups were divided according to related technical requirements.

文摘Defence proteins are a kind of chemical defence compounds. These could play a key function in forestry tree genetic improvement and management in future.

文摘This study was conducted in the Korhogo region in an age gradient of mango orchards. On the other hand, the species Lepisiota sp.1;Camponotus rufigenis, Camponotus sericeus and Oecophylla longinoda were specifically harvested in the control, young, intermediate and aged plots, respectively.
