BACKGROUND Pigmented villonodular synovitis(PVNS)is a benign proliferative disorder that affects the synovial joints, bursae, and tendon sheaths. To date, few studies have reported on the treatment of postoperative pain and edema in patients with PVNS.Herein,we present the case of a woman who developed pain and edema in the left lower limb 1 wk after synovectomy and arthroscopic partial meniscectomy and was unable to walk due to limited flexion and extension of the left knee.CASE SUMMARY A 32-year-old woman underwent synovectomy and arthroscopic partial meniscectomy successively and was treated with a combination of manual lymphatic drainage(MLD)and kinesio taping(KT)in our hospital to alleviate postoperative pain and edema. The following parameters were assessed at 2 wk post-treatment and 1 wk post-discharge follow up:suprapatellar circumference, infrapatellar circumference, visual analog scale score, knee range of motion, pittsburgh sleep quality index score, hamilton anxiety rating scale(HAMA)score, and hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD)score. After treatment, the postoperative pain and edema in the patient’s left knee were effectively relieved, resulting in improved sleep quality and remarkably attenuated HAMA and HAMD scores.CONCLUSION Combined MLD and KT may be an effective approach for relieving postoperative pain and edema in patients with PVNS. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the effect of the treatment of tendon-regulation and bone-setting manipulation and Kinesio Taping on patients with de Quervain Disease.Methods:60 cases with de Quervain Disease were divided into 30 treatment group and 30 control group according to random number table. The observation group was treated withtendon-regulation and bone-setting manipulation and Kinesio Taping, and the control group was given Votalin emulsion combined with Kinesio Taping. The patients were evaluated and compared according to the VAS before and after treatment, the degree of tenderness, the methods of electric integral value(integral electromyogram,iEMG),the degree of wrist ulnar deviation, and the cooney wrist score, and the curative effect was observed using the diagnostic curative effect criteria of TCM disease(the evaluation process was blinded). Results:Compared with the same group before treatment, after treatment, the pain and tenderness of the two groups were reduced,iEMG value increased, the ulnar deviation of the wrist increased, and the cooney wrist score increased(all P<0.05);the improvement of the treatment group was significantly better. In the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05)and the total effective rate of the treatment group was 93%higher than that of the control group 80%(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of the tendon-regulation and bone-setting manipulation combined with the Kinesio Taping can effectively reduce the pain and tenderness of the patients withde Quervain Disease, increase the ulnar mobility of the wrist joint, and improve the joint function of the wrist joint. 展开更多

Background:Shoulder pain is one of the most commonly reported musculoskeletal problems after low back pain. One common reason for the shoulder pain is supraspinatus tendinitis that is often associated with impingement syndrome. Objective:To find the effects of kinesio taping in reducing pain and disability in subjects with supraspinatus tendinitis.Methodology:In this study, patients were randomly allocated the treatment using a set of predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.Subjects were managed with kinesio taping.Pre-and post-evaluation of the patients was done using Numerical Pain Rating Scale(NPRS)and Disability of Arm Shoulder&Hand Questionnaire(DASH)score and the data gathered was entered and analyzed using SPSS version 23.Results:Mean difference of 2.65 was reported between the pretreatment and post treatment values of NPRS in KT taping group which was significant(P<0.05).Mean difference of 27.25 was reported between the pre-treatment and post-treatment values of DASH score in KT taping group which was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Kinesio taping is an effective Program in management of supraspinatus tendinitis. 展开更多
