On the supposition that the system has a symmetry under translation in charge space, the quantum current and the quantum energy spectrum in the mesoscopic transmission llne are given by solving their eigenvalue equations. Results show that the quantum current and the quantum energy spectrum are not only related to the parameters of the transmission llne, but also dependent on the quantized character of the charge obviously.展开更多

We establish the existence and uniqueness of the global solution of the problem by using prior estimates and Galerkin’s method under proper assumptions for the rigid term. Then the compact method is used to prove the existence of a compact family of global attractors in the solution semigroup generated by the problem. Finally, the Frechet differentiability of the operator semigroup and the decay of the volume element of linearization problem are proved, and the Hausdorff dimension and Fractal dimension of the family of global attractors are obtained.展开更多

The body of an airship is taken as a submerged rigid body with neutral buoyancy, i. e. , buoyancy with value equal to that of gravity, and the coupled dynamics between the body with ballonets and ballast is considered. The total dynamics of the airship is firstly derived by Newton-Euler laws and Kirchhoff' s equations. Furthermore, by using Hamiltonian and Lagrangian semidirect product reduction theories, the dynamics is formulated as a Lie-Poisson system, or also an Euler-Poincare system. These two formulations can be exploited for the control design using energy-based methods for Hamiltonian or Lagrangian system.展开更多

Kirchhoff's kinetic analogy is an effective approach to the stability analysis of equilibrium of a thin elastic rod. The main hypotheses of Kirchhoff's theory without the extension of the centerline and the shear deformation of the cross section are not adoptable to real soft materials of biological fibers. In this paper, the dynamic equations of a rod with a circular cross section are established on the basis of the exact Cosserat model by considering the tension and the shear deformations. Euler's angles are applied as the attitude representation of the cross section. The deviation of the normal axis of the cross section from the tangent of the centerline is considered as the result of the shear deformation. Lyapunov's stability of the helical equilibrium is discussed in static category. Euler's critical values of axial force and torque are obtained. Lyapunov's and Euler's stability conditions in the space domain are the necessary conditions of Lyapunov's stability of the helical rod in the time domain.展开更多

However, no systematic algorithm yet exists to evaluate the consistency of the current distribution of short-circuit tests. A methodology is proposed in this paper to address this problem. Based on Kirchhoff’s current law and the generalized method of symmetrical components, the current deviations of the AT feeding systems are analysed and then normalized with the short-circuit current as they vary greatly with systems and short-circuit sites. It is also found that the short-circuit current varies with the calculation methods, and its unbiased standard deviation also reflects the consistency of the short-circuit test. The mean and maximum of the current deviations, as well as the unbiased standard deviation of the short-circuit current, show the consistency of the short-circuit test from different aspects, although the last two items are highly relevant. Therefore, a unified evaluation index is defined as the sum of the three items, and then applied in two case studies to test its performance. The results show that, the proposed index canclearly distinguish the consistency of the short-circuit tests and may be used to sort the short-circuit tests for fault location systems. Besides, some short-circuit tests may have very poor consistency indices, and thus are not applicable to the tuning of fault location systems. In the authors’ opinion, the determination of the threshold of the proposed index needs further investigation.展开更多

The super-long elastic slender rod, an important structural model of DNA and other long-train molecules, is a useful tool in analysing the symmetrical properties and the stabilities of DNA. This paper studies the structural properties of a super-long elastic slender rod as a structural model of DNA by using Kirchhoff's analogue technique and presents the Noether symmetries of the model by using the method of infinitesimal transformation. Baaed on Kirchhoff's analogue it analyses the generalized Hamilton canonical equations. The infinitesimal transfornaationa with rcspect to the radial coordinnte, the gonarnlizod coordinates, and the Cluasi-momenta of 5he model are introduced. The Noether gymmetries and conserved qugntities of the model are obtained.展开更多

As a continuum model of DNA, a thin elastic rod subjected to interfacial interactions is used to investigate the helical equilibrium configuration of DNA in salt solution. In this paper, the Kirchhoff's equations in the presence of interracial traction and the free energy density functions of different configurations are studied. The transition formula of the free energy between B-DNA and Z- DNA is obtained, and the results show that the free energy of the transition is mainly determined by the salt concentra- tion, which agrees well with the experimental data.展开更多

Circuits are dominated by Kirchhoff s laws, while electromagnetics is dominated by Maxwell's equations. However, the correspondence between two sets of equations is not immediately perceived and this creates some uncertainty in the young electrical or electronic engineer, which may grow with the doubt that KirchhotTs laws may be somewhat laws of the nature independent of the laws of electromagnetism. This paper has the purpose of supplying teaching material that may be used to fill the gap, and therefore be taught either at the end of an electromagnetics or at the beginning of a circuit course. It exploits large parts of the paper published in a conference [8], but also contains significant enhancements. The paper first shows simple distributed parameter systems, whose behaviour follows Maxwell's equations, and then shows that they, under given assumptions, can be modelled as circuits, whose behaviour is governed by Kirchhoff's laws.展开更多
