In this paper the progress of document image Point Spread Function (PSF) estimation will be presented. At the beginning of the paper, an overview of PSF estimation methods will be introduced and the reason why knife-edge input PSF estimation method is chosen will be explained. Then in the next section, the knife-edge input PSF estimation method will be detailed. After that, a simulation experiment is performed in order to verify the implemented PSF estimation method. Based on the simulation experiment, in next section we propose a procedure that makes automatic PSF estimation possible. A real document image is firstly taken as an example to illustrate the procedure and then be restored with the estimated PSF and Lucy-Richardson deconvolution method, and its OCR accuracy before and after deconvolution will be compared. Finally, we conclude the paper with the outlook for the future work. 展开更多

A new reflection approach for field distribution measurement of ultrasonic transducers was investigated. Instead of a point-like reflection target (rigid sphere) or thin wires (line-like targets), a line response function of experimental knife-edge distribution combined with the inverse Abel transforms was used to estimate the lateral beam distributions of ultrasonic transducers. The measurement steps were as follows:① A knife-edge was scanned perpendicularly to acoustic beam axis of the transducer using an ultrasonic C-scan system to obtain its ultrasonic image line response function, ② the transverse beam distribution was solved by the inverse Abel transforms, and ③ experiments were performed to obtain the lateral beam profiles of two transducers, with and without focus, and the results were compared with those from a hydrophone. The results showed that this method was effective for ultrasonic field measurement and could be as a substitute for hydrophone in most cases. 展开更多

We report on experimental observation of non-laminar proton acceleration modulated by a strong magnetic field in laser irradiating micrometer aluminum targets. The results illustrate the coexistence of ring-like and filamentation structures. We implement the knife edge method into the radiochromic film detector to map the accelerated beams, measuring a source size of 30-110μm for protons of more than 5 MeV.The diagnosis reveals that the ring-like profile originates from low-energy protons far off the axis whereas the filamentation is from the near-axis high-energy protons, exhibiting non-laminar features.Particle-in-cell simulations reproduced the experimental results, showing that the short-term magnetic turbulence via Weibel instability and the long-term quasi-static annular magnetic field by the streaming electric current account for the measured beam profile. Our work provides direct mapping of laser-driven proton sources in the space-energy domain and reveals the non-laminar beam evolution at featured time scales. 展开更多
