By using the online survey method to investigate the lectures in some universities, it introduces the classification and characteristics of the network broadcast and obtains the advantage of network broadcast applied to lecture training through making contrast between the means of network multimedia. The result shows that the introduction of network broadcast can realize more customized, virtual and specialized lecture services, and facilitate the transformation of university library services in the digital era. 展开更多

An organization’s costing system is a system that helps the management with the strategy planning while the system plays an important role in providing accurate cost information about the products and customers.In other words,the costing management system is important to provide timely and quality information to help managers in their decision-making process.Producing quality graduates is the main objective of any university and the cost of quality or the cost of poor quality is one that is often difficult to measure in higher education.This can be partly attributed to the fact that most accounting systems are not structured to capture important cost-of-quality information.In order to succeed,many organizations tend to shift from conventional or traditional costing system to Activity-based costing(ABC).ABC provides both higher education administrators and policymakers with better information on which to base decisions.The use of multiple cost pools and drivers under ABC leads to more detailed and accurate product costing than that provided by traditional cost systems.This paper attempts to investigate the possibilities and limitations of implementing ABC in universities.More specifically the study makes use of the case study method to illustrate the implementation of activity-based costing of library services in a private university in the Kingdom of Bahrain.The research methodology of the case study is a combination of both descriptive and quantitative analyses.The study identified six categories of cost pools which are related to the activities of the library as well as 17 relevant cost drivers.Accordingly,ABC should lead to a better understanding of what drives costs and,by extension,what changes are necessary to reduce costs.Unnecessary activities that do not add value to services can be identified and eliminated.Further ABC is feasible in an academic library and that much can be gained from the process of analyzing activities.However,more work needs to be done in terms of designing accounting and other information systems to capture cost and activity transaction data in a more routine and disaggregated form for ABC analysis. 展开更多

With the arrival of the information age, research activities focused on the practice and approaches of knowledge services are on a marked increase as evidenced in the publications of social sciences. According to a social network analysis on knowledge service related literature, it reveals that information and knowledge workers often fail to take such an important element as the functional role of an emotive engagement into consideration in their study of knowledge services. It has increasingly become an issue of high profile with the rapid development of digital libraries and their web-based knowledge services in China and anywhere else in the world. In order to have a clearer understanding about issues involved in knowledge servicing so as to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of digital libraries in their knowledge service performance, the author has conducted surveys for seven times on the online information seeking behavior of graduate students at the Chinese Academy of Sciences with such research methods as questionnaires, interviews and natural observations during September 2006-June 2009. The research result has showed the emotive element has an important role in the user's information seeking behavior and in knowledge services practice. Therefore, knowledge services rendered may be more effective by adding the emotiveness-oriented communication element into such practice. This paper recommends that such an emotiveness-oriented communication approach should be carefully studied and factored into libraries' knowledge services practice. 展开更多

The China-US Million Book Digital Library Project (Million Book Project) is an intemational cooperation program between China and the US. However, one million digitized books are considered not to be the ultimate goal of the project, but a first step towards universal access to human knowledge. In particular, there are four challenges about the new way to analyze, process, operate, visualize and interact with digital media resource in this library. To tackle these challenges, North China Centre of Million Book Project (in Chinese Academy of Sciences) has initiated several innovative research projects in areas such as multimedia content analysis and retrieval, bilingual services, multimodal information presentation, and knowledge-based organization and services. In this keynote speech, we simply review our work in these areas, and argue that by technological cooperation with these innovation research topics, the project will develop a top-level digital library platform for the million book library. 展开更多

The service has realized a reader self-directed method of interlibrary loan of printed books at more than 130 university libraries within Jiangsu Province of China in the last 5 years and with a cumulative interlibrary circulation of nearly 190,000 volumes. The paper describes the framework of the clientele, structure, functions, policies, and management mechanisms of the services, and demonstrates its contribution to the improved accessibility of library materials in the region. 展开更多

[目的/意义]为了更好地服务乡村振兴战略,高校图书馆挖掘已有资源潜力,服务乡村振兴的知识信息转移,以期提高农民的文化与信息素质、提高农业生产力、丰富农民精神与物质生活,值得探讨。[方法/过程]本文分析了影响农民吸收知识信息的主要原因,高校图书馆服务乡村振兴知识信息转移的变化特点,目前高校服务乡村振兴的主要路径模式及不足。为更有效做好对大多数农民的知识信息转移服务,笔者选取高校图书馆、农村图书馆、涉农企业、农民作为从高校图书馆发出到农民接收的知识信息转移的过程主体,探讨构建了两条知识信息转移的新路径模型和构建了4种知识信息转移的过程模式。[结果/结论]提出了创新高校图书馆体制机制,建设“三农”精准知识资源库与传播系统,提升乡村人员获取知识信息能力,拓宽知识信息转移渠道,缩小知识信息转移情境差距等对策,以实现高效将知识与信息转移给农民,为中国实施乡村振兴作贡献。 展开更多

[目的/意义]分析2001―2022年高校图书馆知识服务领域的研究现状、研究热点及研究前沿,以期为我国图书馆知识服务研究与实践提供借鉴与参考。[方法/过程]检索CNKI平台中2001―2022年高校图书馆知识服务领域的相关文献,利用CiteSpace软件对其从时间、机构、作者、关键词四个方面进行文献计量,生成可视化知识图谱,呈现出国内高校图书馆知识服务领域研究热点、发展脉络及前沿趋势。[局限]2023年文献尚未纳入,后续将持续追踪最新研究成果,完善本研究的发展趋势分析;限于文献篇幅,部分研究主题的脉络分析略为粗糙,有待深入细化。[结果/结论]高校图书馆知识服务领域整体发文量以2019年为分界点,呈长期上升、近期下降趋势;各作者、机构进行独立研究的现象较为普遍;研究热点为信息素养、学科服务、知识服务、知识产权信息服务、数据管理服务、智库服务、数字学术服务、智慧服务,研究前沿为智慧服务、数字人文、数据素养、数字学术、知识产权、数据管理等方向。 展开更多
