[Objective] The aim of this study was to characterize the national regis- tered varieties selected from cotton regional trials in Yangtze River Valley (YaRV) in recent years. [Method] Cotton cultivar classification ...[Objective] The aim of this study was to characterize the national regis- tered varieties selected from cotton regional trials in Yangtze River Valley (YaRV) in recent years. [Method] Cotton cultivar classification and comprehensive evaluation index were set up based on national cotton registration standard. GGE biplot method was adopted to analyze the correlation of major breeding target characters of 53 national registered cotton varieties in cotton regional trials in YaRV during 1981-2012. According to the shift of check cultivars in cotton regional trials in the past, the cotton regional trial practice since 1981 was divided into five periods. The dynamic of cultivar type's proportion and the evaluation index scores was analyzed across the five periods. [Result] There existed intricate interrelationship among cotton breeding target traits, which constrained it necessary to construct indices for com- prehensive evaluation of cotton varieties. The dynamic of cultivar types in the five periods indicated that type II varieties emerged since Simian 3 period and then its proportion decreased gradually; type Ⅲ varieties maintained a certain proportion in each period and kept on the rise overall; type Ⅳvarieties occupied the majority pro- portion of registered cultivars before 1993, but a minor proportion since Simian 3 period. On the other side, the change trend of the evaluation index demonstrated that the varieties registered before 2003 did not pass the qualified line at present. The peak scores appeared in the varieties registered during 2004-2008. The scores of the varieties registered after 2009 were only slightly over the qualified line. [Conclusion] More attention should be paid to the improvement and evaluation of micronaire, so as to guide the simultaneous development of high yielding and fiber quality in cotton breeding and registration procedure in YaRV.展开更多

The growth and morphological changes of n euron axons were observed to measure axolemmal permeability after elongation. Ne urofilament protein was stained by immunohistochemical technique.Results: Human embryo neuron axon could be elongated and cultur ed on the PLGA membrane and retain their normal form and function. Conclusions: Three dimensional scaffolds with elongated neuron axon have the basic characteristics of artificial nerves,indicating a fundement al theory of nerve repair with elongated neuron axon.展开更多

The genetic diversity and relationship among 40 elite barley varieties were analyzed based on simple sequence repeat (SSR) genotyping data. The amplified fragments from SSR primers were highly polymorphic in the bad...The genetic diversity and relationship among 40 elite barley varieties were analyzed based on simple sequence repeat (SSR) genotyping data. The amplified fragments from SSR primers were highly polymorphic in the badey accessions investigated. A total of 85 alleles were detected at 35 SSR loci, and allelic variations existed at 29 SSR loci. The allele number per locus ranged from 1 to 5 with an average of 2.4 alleles per locus detected from the 40 badey accessions. A cluster analysis based on the genetic similarity coefficients was conducted and the 40 varieties were classified into two groups. Seven malting barley varieties from China fell into the same subgroup. It was found that the genetic diversity within the Chinese malting barley varieties was narrower than that in other barley germplasm sources, suggesting the importance and feasibility of introducing elite genotypes from different origins for malting barley breeding in China.展开更多

In this study, we systemati- cally investigated the influence of cholesterol analog 6-ketocholestanol (6-KC) on the dehydration of model cell membrane, using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy. In pure DI water environment, two separate dehydration dynamic components were observed in neutrally charged and isotopically labeled 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) and positively charged 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-ethylphosphocholine(chloride salt) (DMEPC) bilayer: a large-amplitude fast component and a small-amplitude slow component, which originated from the water molecules with a weak and a strong water-membrane bound strengths, respectively. Dehydration of a negatively charged mixed DMPC/DMPG bilayer lead to the membrane-bound water being reorganized to ordered structures quickly. It is evident that the water-membrane bound strengths depend largely on the charge status of the lipid and has an order of neutrally charged membrane〈〈positively charged mem- brane〈〈negatively charged membrane. In an ionic environment, KC1 solution can not only dehydrate DMPC bilayer, but also prevent the 6-KC fiom further dehydrating this model cell membrane. We observed that the dehydration dynamics behavior of DMPC bilayer in the presence of the chaotropic anions is similar to that of the negatively charged DMPG bilayer because of the penetration of chaotropic anions into the DMPC bilayer. The degree of dehydration difficulty in kosmotropic anions fol- lows a Hofmeister series and linearly correlates with the hydration Gibbs free energy of the anions. Our results provide a molecular basis for the interpretation of the Hofmeister effect of kosmotropic anions on ion transport proteins.展开更多
