The demand for security in d...This paper evaluates the performance of Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) based Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) virtual private network (VPN) in a small to medium sized organization. The demand for security in data networks has been increasing owing to the high cyber attacks and potential risks associated with networks spread over distant geographical locations. The MPLS networks ride on the public network backbone that is porous and highly susceptible to attacks and so the need for reliable security mechanisms to be part of the deployment plan. The evaluation criteria concentrated on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Video conferencing with keen interest in jitter, end to end delivery and general data flow. This study used both structured questionnaire and observation methods. The structured questionnaire was administered to a group of 70 VPN users in a company. This provided the study with precise responses. The observation method was used in data simulations using OPNET Version 14.5 Simulation software. The results show that the IPSec features increase the size of data packets by approximately 9.98% translating into approximately 90.02% effectiveness. The tests showed that the performance metrics are all well within the recommended standards. The IPSec Based MPLS Virtual private network is more stable and secure than one without IPSec.展开更多

Direct detection is chosen to demodulate the payload by applying a polarization tracker, while 4-bits of 156Mb/s spectral amplitude code label is coherently detected with a scheme of frequently-swept coherent detection. We optimize the payload laser linewidth as well as the frequency spacing between the payload and label. The label and payload signal performances are assessed by the eye-diagram opening factor (EOF) and bit-error rate (BER) at 10 9 as a function of the received optical power (ROP) and the optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR). The 155 Mb/s-10 Gb/s combined FSK/IM signal is experimentally transmitted over a 100 km standard single mode fiber. 10^-10 and 10^-9 BER (bit error ratio), or even better, is achieved for the FSK label and IM packet, respectively. In this paper, a new structure to implement optical MPLS is proposed. We construct a code family for spectral-amplitude coding(SAC) labels in the optical MPLS networks. SAC labels are suitable for optical packet switching because they can be constructed and recognized quickly at each router. We use the label stacking to provide hierarchical routing to avoid swapping labels at each forwarding node and reduce system complexity. However, the phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN) appears due to the incoherent property of the light source when the stacked labels set makes the correlation decoding with the local node label,which degrades system performance.展开更多

A non-return-to-zero (NRZ) FSK signal is generated by ...In this paper, we describe the generation, detection, and performance of frequency-shift keying (FSK) for high-speed optical transmission and label switching. A non-return-to-zero (NRZ) FSK signal is generated by using two continuous-wave (CW) lasers, one Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM), and one Mach-Zehnder delay interferometer (MZDI). An RZ-FSK signal is generated by cascading a dual-arm MZM, which is driven by a sinusoidal voltage at half the bit rate. Demodulation can be achieved on 1 bit rate through one MZDI or an array waveguide grating (AWG) demultiplexer with balanced detection. We perform numerical simulation on two types of frequency modulation schemes using MZM or PM, and we determine the effect of frequency tone spacing (FTS) on the generated FSK signal. In the proposed scheme, a novel frequency modulation format has transmission advantages compared with traditional modulation formats such as RZ and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK), under varying dispersion management. The performance of an RZ-FSK signal in a 4 x 40 Gb/s WDM transmission system is discussed. We experiment on transparent wavelength conversion based on four-wave mixing (FWM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and in a highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNDSF) for a 40 Gb/s RZ-FSK signal. The feasibility of all-optical signal processing of a high-speed RZ-FSK signal is confirmed. We also determine the receiver power penalty for the RZ-FSK signal after a 100 km standard single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission link with matching dispersion compensating fiber (DCF), under the post-compensation management scheme. Because the frequency modulation format is orthogonal to intensity modulation and vector modulation (polarization shift keying), it can be used in the context of the combined modulation format to decrease the data rate or enhance the symbol rate. It can also be used in orthogonal label-switching as the modulation format for the payload or the label. As an example, we propose a simple orthogonal optical label switching technique based on 40 Gb/s FSK payload and 2.5 Gb/s intensity modulated (IM) label.展开更多

On this basis, an active dynamic pre-protection (ADPP) mechanism is proposed. This active dynamic pre-protection mechanism is allowed to establish a so called temporary protection path (TPP) for the work path before a potential fault occurs and to switch to TPP only after the fault occurs. It keeps the TPP flexibly only when it is in low- quality or fault state to realize dynamic protection even better and to achieve better resource utilization. Simulation results show that the proposed new mechanism has better performance in terms of the flexibility and the efficiency from the perspective of time.展开更多

However, there is a problem of the path protection approac...The path protection approach is widely investigated as a survivability solution for GMPLS networks, which has the advantage of efficient capacity utilization. However, there is a problem of the path protection approach that searching a disjoint backup path for a primary path is often unsuccessful. In order to resolve this problem, an integrated dynamic shared protection (IDSP) algorithm is proposed. The main idea of the proposed algorithm is that the path protection approach is first used to establish a backup path for the primary path; if the establishment is unsuccessful, then the primary path is dynamically divided into segments whose hop count are not fixed but not more than the limitation calculated by the equations introduced. In this proposal, backup bandwidth sharing is allowed to improve the capacity utilization ratio, which makes the link cost function quite different from previous ones. Simulation experiments are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method compared with previous methods. Numerical results show that IDSP can not only achieve low protection failure probability but can also gain a better tradeoff between the protection overbuild and the average recovery time.展开更多

In the proposed algorithm, a primary path is dynamically divided into several segments according to the differentiated reliability requirements of the customers. In the SPP-DiR algorithm, the whole primary path should be protected, while in the DSSP- DiR algorithm, only partial segments on the primary path need to be protected, which can reduce more backup bandwidths than that in the SPP-DiR algorithm. Simulation results show that the DSSP-DiR algorithm achieves higher resource utilization ratio, lower protection failure probability, and shorter recovery time than the SPP-DiR algorithm.展开更多
In conventional shared risk link group (SRLG)-diverse path selection (CSPS) algorithm in survivable GMPLS networks, SRLG is taken into account when selecting the backup paths, while the primary path selection meth...In conventional shared risk link group (SRLG)-diverse path selection (CSPS) algorithm in survivable GMPLS networks, SRLG is taken into account when selecting the backup paths, while the primary path selection method is the sarne as the algorithms without SRLG constraint. A problem of CSPS algorithm is that, after a primary path is selected, the success probability to select an SRLG-diverse backup path for it is low. If SRLG is taken into account when computing the primary path, then the probability to successfully select an SRLG-diverse backup path will be much increased. Based on this idea, an active SRLG-diverse path selection (ASPS) algorithm is proposed. To actively avoid selecting those SRLG links, when computing the primary path, a link that share risk with more links is assigned a larger link cost. To improve the resource utilization ratio, it is permitted that the bandwidth resources are shared among backup paths. What is more, differentiated reliability (DiR) requirements of different customers are considered in ASPS algorithm. The simulation results show that, compared with CSPS algorithm, ASPS algorithm not only increases successful protection probability but also improves resource utilization ratio.展开更多

A novel mechanism that uses two-layer label stack to support MPLS VPN explicit multicast is proposed and the process is discussed in detail. The scalability and performance of the proposed mechanism are studied analytically. The result shows that our solution has great advantage over the currently available scheme in terms of saving core network bandwidth and improving the scalability.展开更多
This article shows the quality of services in a wireless swarm of drones that form an ad hoc network between them Fly Ad Hoc Networks(FANET).Each drone has the ability to send and receive information(like a router);an...This article shows the quality of services in a wireless swarm of drones that form an ad hoc network between them Fly Ad Hoc Networks(FANET).Each drone has the ability to send and receive information(like a router);and can behave as a hierarchical node whit the intregration of three protocols:Multiprotocol Label Switch(MPLS),Fast Hierarchical AD Hoc Mobile(FHAM)and Internet Protocol version 6(IPv6),in conclusion MPLS+FHAM+IPv6.The metrics analyzed in the FANET are:delay,jitter,throughput,lost and sent packets/received.Testing process was carried out with swarms composed of 10,20,30 and 40 units;In this work,the stage with 40 droneswas analyzed showing registration processes,and sentmessages sequences between different drones that were part of the same swarm.A special analysis about the traffic between drones(end-to-end)was carried out,as well as the possible security flaws in each drone and the current status and future trends in real services.Regarding future trends,in a real environment,we took as a starting point,metrics results obtained in the simulation(positive according to the obtained results).These results gave us a clear vision of how the network will behave in a real environment with the aim to carry out the experiment on a physical level in the near future.This work also shows the experience quality from the service quality metrics obtained through a mathematical model.This quality of experience model will allow us to use it objectively in the agricultural sector,which is a great interest area and is where we are working with drones.Finally in this article we show our advances for a business model applied to the aforementioned agricultural sector,as well as the data analysis and services available to the end customer.These services available to the end customer have been classified into a basic,medium,advanced and plus level.展开更多

文摘Proposed is a novel optical code(OC) label switching scheme in which an optical label is constructed by multiple parallel optical codes.The performances of splitting loss and BER are simulated and analyzed.Simulation results show that the proposed label can be correctly recognized to perform packet switching.Compared with reported schemes using one OC as a label,the splitting loss in our proposal is lowered.

文摘This paper introduces the mid-span spectral inversion by four-wave mixing in a commercially available semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with a length of about 1.5 mm to optical label switching network based on combined frequency shift keying (FSK)-intensiy modulation (IM)/optical label-packet modulation to overcome the dispersion limitation of fiber. The 155 Mb/s-10 Gb/s combined FSK/IM signal is experimentally transmitted over a 100 km standard single mode fiber. 10^-10 and 10^-9 BER (bit error ratio), or even better, is achieved for the FSK label and IM packet, respectively. The -19 dB power conversion efficiency is obtained for -1 nm wavelength detuning.
文摘The rapid development of network raise the role of WAN. As a large-scale backbone network, the failure of network components can lead to huge loss of data and revenue. How to improve the data switching speed and Quality of Service of network data is more and more important problem which Internet Server Provides cared. Multi-Protocol Lable Switching (MPLS) is a new WAN technology which is currently being standardized by IETF. This paper analysise the architecture of MPLS and describe the mechanism of label switching protocol. In addition, this study analyses the encapsulation of data packet at the Label Switching Routers which is on the boundary of MPLS network. A Label Switching Path (LSP) is built by Label Distribute Protocol in core network. A conclution of "one time routed, more times switching" routed was reached.
文摘Multi-protocol label switching(MPLS) has the advantage of high efficiency in the second layer, which improves the performance of data packets routing. In this paper, a new structure to implement optical MPLS is proposed. We construct a code family for spectral-amplitude coding(SAC) labels in the optical MPLS networks. SAC labels are suitable for optical packet switching because they can be constructed and recognized quickly at each router. We use the label stacking to provide hierarchical routing to avoid swapping labels at each forwarding node and reduce system complexity. However, the phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN) appears due to the incoherent property of the light source when the stacked labels set makes the correlation decoding with the local node label,which degrades system performance.
文摘This paper discusses traffic engineering with multi protocol label switching (MPLS) in a backbone of Internet data center (IDC) network. The traditional SPF routing limitations are analyzed and the traffic engineering concept is given. MPLS, resource reservation protocol (RSVP) and enhanced link status Protocols intermediate system to intermediate system (IS IS) are reviewed to provide a background for traffic engineering, the general issues of designing an MPLS system of IDC network for traffic engineering are then discussed. Finally a practical example with MPLS traffic engineering is shown.

文摘In this paper, we describe the generation, detection, and performance of frequency-shift keying (FSK) for high-speed optical transmission and label switching. A non-return-to-zero (NRZ) FSK signal is generated by using two continuous-wave (CW) lasers, one Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM), and one Mach-Zehnder delay interferometer (MZDI). An RZ-FSK signal is generated by cascading a dual-arm MZM, which is driven by a sinusoidal voltage at half the bit rate. Demodulation can be achieved on 1 bit rate through one MZDI or an array waveguide grating (AWG) demultiplexer with balanced detection. We perform numerical simulation on two types of frequency modulation schemes using MZM or PM, and we determine the effect of frequency tone spacing (FTS) on the generated FSK signal. In the proposed scheme, a novel frequency modulation format has transmission advantages compared with traditional modulation formats such as RZ and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK), under varying dispersion management. The performance of an RZ-FSK signal in a 4 x 40 Gb/s WDM transmission system is discussed. We experiment on transparent wavelength conversion based on four-wave mixing (FWM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and in a highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNDSF) for a 40 Gb/s RZ-FSK signal. The feasibility of all-optical signal processing of a high-speed RZ-FSK signal is confirmed. We also determine the receiver power penalty for the RZ-FSK signal after a 100 km standard single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission link with matching dispersion compensating fiber (DCF), under the post-compensation management scheme. Because the frequency modulation format is orthogonal to intensity modulation and vector modulation (polarization shift keying), it can be used in the context of the combined modulation format to decrease the data rate or enhance the symbol rate. It can also be used in orthogonal label-switching as the modulation format for the payload or the label. As an example, we propose a simple orthogonal optical label switching technique based on 40 Gb/s FSK payload and 2.5 Gb/s intensity modulated (IM) label.

文摘The active-fault-alarm (AFA) technologies and the dynamic protection mechanism of the optical network controlled by the multi-protocol label switching transport profile (MPLS-TP) are both studied in this article. On this basis, an active dynamic pre-protection (ADPP) mechanism is proposed. This active dynamic pre-protection mechanism is allowed to establish a so called temporary protection path (TPP) for the work path before a potential fault occurs and to switch to TPP only after the fault occurs. It keeps the TPP flexibly only when it is in low- quality or fault state to realize dynamic protection even better and to achieve better resource utilization. Simulation results show that the proposed new mechanism has better performance in terms of the flexibility and the efficiency from the perspective of time.

文摘The path protection approach is widely investigated as a survivability solution for GMPLS networks, which has the advantage of efficient capacity utilization. However, there is a problem of the path protection approach that searching a disjoint backup path for a primary path is often unsuccessful. In order to resolve this problem, an integrated dynamic shared protection (IDSP) algorithm is proposed. The main idea of the proposed algorithm is that the path protection approach is first used to establish a backup path for the primary path; if the establishment is unsuccessful, then the primary path is dynamically divided into segments whose hop count are not fixed but not more than the limitation calculated by the equations introduced. In this proposal, backup bandwidth sharing is allowed to improve the capacity utilization ratio, which makes the link cost function quite different from previous ones. Simulation experiments are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method compared with previous methods. Numerical results show that IDSP can not only achieve low protection failure probability but can also gain a better tradeoff between the protection overbuild and the average recovery time.

文摘To improve the resource utilization ratio and shorten the recovery time of the shared path protection with differentiated reliability (SPP-DiR) algorithm, an algorithm called dynamic shared segment protection with differentiated reliability (DSSP-DiR) is proposed for survivable GMPLS networks. In the proposed algorithm, a primary path is dynamically divided into several segments according to the differentiated reliability requirements of the customers. In the SPP-DiR algorithm, the whole primary path should be protected, while in the DSSP- DiR algorithm, only partial segments on the primary path need to be protected, which can reduce more backup bandwidths than that in the SPP-DiR algorithm. Simulation results show that the DSSP-DiR algorithm achieves higher resource utilization ratio, lower protection failure probability, and shorter recovery time than the SPP-DiR algorithm.

文摘In conventional shared risk link group (SRLG)-diverse path selection (CSPS) algorithm in survivable GMPLS networks, SRLG is taken into account when selecting the backup paths, while the primary path selection method is the sarne as the algorithms without SRLG constraint. A problem of CSPS algorithm is that, after a primary path is selected, the success probability to select an SRLG-diverse backup path for it is low. If SRLG is taken into account when computing the primary path, then the probability to successfully select an SRLG-diverse backup path will be much increased. Based on this idea, an active SRLG-diverse path selection (ASPS) algorithm is proposed. To actively avoid selecting those SRLG links, when computing the primary path, a link that share risk with more links is assigned a larger link cost. To improve the resource utilization ratio, it is permitted that the bandwidth resources are shared among backup paths. What is more, differentiated reliability (DiR) requirements of different customers are considered in ASPS algorithm. The simulation results show that, compared with CSPS algorithm, ASPS algorithm not only increases successful protection probability but also improves resource utilization ratio.

文摘MPLS(Multi-Protocol Label Switching) VPN(Virtual Private Network) traffic has been deployed widely, but currently only supports unicast. This paper briefly introduces several available MPLS VPN multicast approaches, and then analyzes their disadvantages. A novel mechanism that uses two-layer label stack to support MPLS VPN explicit multicast is proposed and the process is discussed in detail. The scalability and performance of the proposed mechanism are studied analytically. The result shows that our solution has great advantage over the currently available scheme in terms of saving core network bandwidth and improving the scalability.

文摘This article shows the quality of services in a wireless swarm of drones that form an ad hoc network between them Fly Ad Hoc Networks(FANET).Each drone has the ability to send and receive information(like a router);and can behave as a hierarchical node whit the intregration of three protocols:Multiprotocol Label Switch(MPLS),Fast Hierarchical AD Hoc Mobile(FHAM)and Internet Protocol version 6(IPv6),in conclusion MPLS+FHAM+IPv6.The metrics analyzed in the FANET are:delay,jitter,throughput,lost and sent packets/received.Testing process was carried out with swarms composed of 10,20,30 and 40 units;In this work,the stage with 40 droneswas analyzed showing registration processes,and sentmessages sequences between different drones that were part of the same swarm.A special analysis about the traffic between drones(end-to-end)was carried out,as well as the possible security flaws in each drone and the current status and future trends in real services.Regarding future trends,in a real environment,we took as a starting point,metrics results obtained in the simulation(positive according to the obtained results).These results gave us a clear vision of how the network will behave in a real environment with the aim to carry out the experiment on a physical level in the near future.This work also shows the experience quality from the service quality metrics obtained through a mathematical model.This quality of experience model will allow us to use it objectively in the agricultural sector,which is a great interest area and is where we are working with drones.Finally in this article we show our advances for a business model applied to the aforementioned agricultural sector,as well as the data analysis and services available to the end customer.These services available to the end customer have been classified into a basic,medium,advanced and plus level.
