Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Based on Landscape Ecology Theory:A Case Study of Waterfront Landscape Planning and Design of Dapo Town

With the rapid development of urbanization,landscape architecture has become an indispensable component of daily life.In order to achieve better landscape effects and protect the ecological environment,landscape ecology theory can be integrated into landscape planning to carry out disciplinary crossing and integration research between landscape ecology and landscape architecture.In this study,based on the basic theories of landscape ecology,the waterfront landscape of Dapo Town was designed,with the aim to achieve ecological balance in planning,showcase biodiversity,and create a harmonious landscape ecological environment which can benefit both nature and people.This design combined artificial and natural elements while improving the natural environment,which promoted a harmonious relationship between humans and nature,thus enriching the spatial organization of the city,and playing a role in regulating the urban environment and climate.

Intensive Utilization of Resources and Design of Landscape Architecture

Urban ecological environment has been seriously destructed,and the objectives of "resource-conserved and environment-friendly society" have had higher requirements on the design of landscape architecture.Intensive design of landscape architecture requires the application of ecology to create better economic and ecological benefits than the original landscape system has,so as to achieve the sustainable utilization of resources and the sustainable development of environment.The authors proposed that by following the Scientific Outlook on Development the intensive utilization of land resources,mountain,water and forest resources,energy resources is the trend of future intensive design of landscape architecture,and also an approach of realizing the coordination of resource development and eco-environment conservation.

Ecological Security of Landscape Architecture in Yunnan Province

The concept of landscape architecture with eco-security was proposed,ecological security of landscape architecture in Yunnan was elaborated from 8 aspects,specifically as landform,typical climate,natural vegetation,biodiversity,transplantation of large-size trees,disaster-proof function,greening security,introduction of garden species.Moreover,countermeasures for maintaining the ecological security of landscape architecture in Yunnan Province were further put forward,① In view of local conditions,inheriting natural views of classical Chinese gardens,respecting all natural elements,② Rising higher requirements on the planning of garden green space system,③ Paying more attention to the integrated construction of green spaces in urban and rural areas,maintaining the wholeness of suburban ecosystem,④ Devoting more in developing seedling industry,culturing more large-size seedlings in original sites,⑤ Selecting right trees for right sites in constructing urban gardens.Eventually,it was proposed that gardens in Yunnan Province should be developed by combining with its outstanding ecological conditions,among which ecological security should be the focus of attention.

Ecological Harmony:Core Concept for the Construction of Urban Landscape Architecture

On the basis of analyzing the narrow sense and broad sense of landscape architecture,classical gardens and modern landscape architecture,the authors proposed functions of landscape architecture,and that highquality landscape architecture designs should demonstrate ecological,social and aesthetic functions.By combining theoretical analysis and practical experience,it was verified that urban landscape architecture has to integrate ecological,social and aesthetic functions to manifest its social value to the most.

Analysis on Landscape Ecological Design in Landscape Architecture

With the continuous improvement of China’s economic level, the people’s cultural literacy is gradually increasing, and the same people are increasingly pursuing new changes and changes in the quality of life. At present, most people are not only satisfied with the basic needs of life, but also have a new height and pursuit in the improvement of new life quality. In the current landscape design field, people are increasingly demanding landscape design. How to design urban landscape design that meets the real needs of people under current social conditions is one of the hottest topics in the current landscape design industry. As an important component in the construction of landscape architecture, effective landscape ecological design plays an important role in maintaining the sustainable development of urban ecological environment and enhancing the visual beauty of landscape architecture. Therefore, it is necessary to pay more attention to the ecological design of the landscape, clarify the ideas and principles of ecological design, and realize the improvement of the safety and aesthetics of the landscape ecological design in the construction of landscape architecture. Then, this paper gives a brief overview and analysis of some design concepts, design principles and design points in landscape ecological design in current landscape architecture, which aims to promote the quality improvement of the landscape ecological design in the current Landscape architecture and promote the progress and development of the overall landscape ecological design industry.

Landscape architecture and novel ecosystems:ecological restoration in an expanded field

Within the continuum of natural-to-novel ecosystems−i.e.,from the‘pristine’to the greatly intervened−this paper emphasizes the role of design within highly modified ecosystems in areas of urbanization.It is argued that,as certain landscapes(particularly urbanized ones)can never be restored to original levels of historical ecological fidelity,they should be treated as both cultural and ecological landscapes.It is then proposed that these anthropogenic landscapes would be ready canvases for designed(or planned)novel ecosystems that could be inculcated with ecological function and systems delivery,yet having profound aesthetic manipulation.Based on this landscape architecture perspective,it is suggested that ecologists may not have fully explored cultural interventions in restoring landscapes,especially within the agency of design.A design strategy for the biological hotspot of Perth in southwestern Australia is then provided as a relevant example of how novel ecosystems can be designed.Without an acute and novel approach to modifying current development practices,Perth’s biodiversity is on track for considerable deterioration.From this exploratory backdrop,it is elaborated how neo-baroque design strategies can be used for structuring ecological systems to create resilient and productive novel ecosystems grounded in a critical and autochthonous aesthetic of botanical complexity.

Ecological Restoration Technologies of Urban Artificial Landscape Lakes

Aiming at the problems of water pollution and ecological environment degradation in urban artificial landscape lakes,the ecological restoration technologies of artificial landscape lakes at home and abroad were studied to provide some reference for the ecological restoration of urban artificial landscape lakes in China.

The Inspiration of Chinese-Western Garden Architecture Environment for Indoor Landscape Design

By comparatively analyzing the difference of Chinese-Western culture,the paper discussed different garden building concepts of China and western countries,and also pointed out the difference of morphological features,poetic imagery of landscape,patterns,structure and spatial connects led by these concepts.It is believed that the introducing the architectural art of garden will become an inevitable tendency.Instances were used to illustrate spatial layout of classical gardens,the construction of poetic imagery,architectural forms of western gardens and its referential significance to indoor landscape design.

Through analyzing the present landform and geological conditions of Han Yangling Mausoleum, investigating the features of gardening and mausoleum construction in Han Dynasty, this study elaborated expression forms of each landscape element in the ecological restoration of Han Yangling Mausoleum.

Harmony between Industrial Landscape and Natural Ecology—Landscape Design of the Former Area in Wangfenggang Coal Mine of Anhui Huainan

Taking landscape design of the former area in Wangfenggang coal mine of Anhui Huainan as an example,the whole thinking and specific implementations were discussed from aspects including scenic spot planning,plant landscape and characteristics of scenic spots,and created landscape in mining areas,squares and residential districts by combining section peculiarity,old building characteristics and circumstance in the landscape design of mining areas,which aimed to realize sustainable development of landscape in mining areas.

Study on Ecological Restoration of the Landscape Water in Yuefei Temple of Hangzhou

On account of the existent problems of the small landscape water of 400 m2,with the recovery technique of submerged plants as the core,assisted by the measures of AquaMats ecological base,ecological floating bed construction,biological manipulation,the landscape water was treated comprehensively and the water quality obviously improved after the implementation and treatment of twelve month,CODMn,BOD5,NH3-N,TP,TN and SS respectively decreasing from 4.24,7.62,2.24,0.49,9.31,11.00 mg/L to 2.04,4.76,0.69,0.27,3.72,6.00 mg/L.After the treatment,the organic pollution and eutrophication of the landscape water was controlled to a certain degree,the eruption of the algal bloom was mitigated,and the color of landscape water changed from dark green to yellowish green,and the transparency degree increased from 50 cm to nearly 65 cm.The successful implementation of the restoration project provided certain guiding paradigm for the treatment of small landscape water in cities.

Forest landscape ecology and its applications in China

Landscape ecology is playing an increasingly important role in resources management and landuse planning in recent decades and attracting much attention from resource managers and scientists in China as well as in the world. Reviews of landscape ecology development in China have been well documented, whereas forest landscape ecology and its applications receive relatively fewer reviews. In this paper, we first present a brief review of the historical development and current advances of landscape ecology in China and then introduce the applications of landscape ecology to forest park designs, urban greenspace planning, ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation and forest eco-hydrology. Finally, the problems with the application of forest landscape ecology in China, such as inadequate synthesis and integration, lack of basic research on patterns and processes, basic data shortage and model usage problem are discussed on the basis of which we suggest a future direction of forest landscape ecology in China.

Design of Landscape Ecological Restoration for “Five Mining Areas” of the Laoqing Mountain in the Dianchi Lake Basin

Through analyzing basic conditions of the "five mining areas" in the Laoqing Mountain of the Dianchi Lake Basin, in Kunming City, South China, the ecological restoration design of "integrating engineering protection and biological restoration, building the landscape ecological security pattern of the Laoqing Mountain" was proposed. Considering the different ecological functional areas, varying engineering measures, greening patterns, and irrigation means were selected for the ecological restoration, including site management, vegetation restoration, management and utilization etc.. These ecological restoration measures will produce favorable ecological benefits, and also take landscape effect and sustainable development into consideration, which will contribute to the ecological restoration of the "five mining areas", and provide a scientific and feasible reference for the ecological restoration in China.

On the Ecological Restoration Mode of Urban Water Revetment Landscape

Urban waterfront revetment is a special zone between water and land,with high ecological,economic and aesthetic value. Waterfront revetment landscape is not only an important part of urban water and land ecosystems,but also an integral part of the city. Based on the current situation of ecological environment of waterfront revetment landscape,we come up with different ecological restoration modes for different types of revetment,to achieve the organic integration of waterfront revetment landscape and ecology.

Ecological Restoration Design of Refuse Landfill——A Case Study of Landscape Planning of Beichen Shuangkou Refuse Landfill in Tianjin City

Refuse landfill plays an important role in daily life,but also brings serious pollution.By investigating environment pollution of Beichen Shuangkou Refuse Landfill in Tianjin City,this paper put forward major problems of this refuse landfill,and suggestions for turning it into a landscape system with regeneration and renewing capacity,so as to provide references for ecological restoration and landscaping of similar damaged land resources.

Riverfront Landscape Based on the Idea of River Restoration: A Case Study of the Riverfront Landscape of Duoba New District in Xining City

With social progress and economic development, flood protection, water storage, and pollution absorption of urban rivers have been improved, but at the same time negative effects have been brought about. In urban areas, due to canalization or occupation of river, and forcible alteration of course of rivers, river waters area has been reduced. Natural capacity of rivers is seriously lacking, and the ecosystem services of rivers are gradually weakening. For planning, design and construction of urban landscapes, the concept of ecological restoration must be applied to protect and rationally utilize river landscapes. This paper takes the landscape belt of Huangshui River in Doba New City of Xining as an example to study the Huangshui River. Based on the theory of river course restoration, a “dynamic growth” river restoration system is established, and the restoration process of nature itself is as little as possible. In order to improve the water quality of Huangshui River, control the flow velocity and build the ecological environment, a set of perfect and self-repairing system is created for Huangshui River.

Landscape pattern and its restoration for coal mine subsidence area in southern part of Tangshan in China

To investigate the ecosystem damage and environment pollution resulted from coal resources exploitation,based on remote sensing image,the landscape pattern was quantitatively analyzed with GIS and landscape pattern analysis software FRAGSTATS by utilizing multiform landscape pattern indexes,such as patch area,patch circumference,patch number,fractal dimension,fragmentation index,connectivity index and so on. Results indicate that the restored landscape type occupies the control status and accounts for the majority of the whole area,and needs to be further restored and adjusted because of its internal body with smaller patches,lower fractal dimension and better connectivity. The landscape type without restoration has destroyed the ecology and beauty of the whole landscape. In addition,some suggestive instructions for restoring various kinds of patches are put forward according to the quantitative analysis.

Principles of Landscape Ecology in the Construction of Hydro-ecological Civilized City

Against the backdrop of global urbanization,ecological civilization problems have become increasingly prominent,among which water ecological civilization has been a focus of researches for being closely tied with urban life.Under the context of constructing water ecological civilization,this paper from the perspective of landscape ecological planning analyzed the connection of river and lake water systems,construction of fl ood and water diversion project,water pollution control,water ecological conservation and ecological river construction,based on different water ecological construction objectives;explored how to support landscape planning by fully using landscape ecological principles and landscape indexes;fi nally proposed to design more delicate objective-based landscape indexes and the overall landscape index model for water ecological construction.

Preliminary Study on River Landscape Ecological Restoration Project

In the process of urbanization, along with industrial development and population growth, demand of water is rapidly increasing, causing water shortages. Some rivers, lakes, wetlands and other water bodies are invaded, as well as the demise of the transformation has been a serious threat to the survival and development of human society. Therefore, river restoration is one of the hot researches in recent years. In this paper, the author made a preliminary summary on river restoration and repair, technology and related engineering examples in order to promote domestic demand for river restoration longitudinal in-depth study and fry to raise the domestic ecological restoration in future research directions： River ecological restoration is a long process. The design process should be integrated into the concept of sustainable development and build a public participation platform integrated with experts, designers, and user. And river restoration technology and related engineering examples literature play the role of reference and guidance on the selection of the river restoration project technical measures.

Ecological Remediation Measures for Non-point Source Pollution Based on Source-Sink Landscape Theory: A Case Study of Huanghou Basin

The growth of society and population has led to a range of water pollution issues.Among these,non-point source pollution assessment and treatment pose a particular challenge due to its formation mechanism.This has become a focal point and challenge in water pollution treatment research.The study area for this research was the Huanghou basin in Guizhou Province,southwest China.The land use type of the basin was analyzed using remote sensing technology,and water quality data was collected by distributing points throughout the basin,based on source-sink landscape theory.The distribution map of the basin’s source-sink landscape and the results of water quality data accurately and efficiently identified the areas with high risk of non-point source pollution in the western and southwestern residential and agricultural areas of the upper basin.Hence,a strategy of“increasing sinks and decreasing sources”was proposed.The strategy was implemented at both macro and micro levels to address non-point source pollution in the basin using ecological remediation techniques.The work to control karst rocky desertification should continue at a macro level.The rocky desertification area in the basin should gradually transform into grassland and forested land,while increasing the overall area of the sink landscape.Ecological restoration techniques,such as slope planting,riparian zone vegetation restoration,increasing plant abundance,and restoring aquatic plants,can effectively control non-point source pollution at the micro level.Compared to traditional control methods,this remediation strategy focuses on source and process control.It is more effective and does not require large-scale water pollution control projects,which can save a lot of environmental control funds and management costs.Therefore,it has greater research significance and application value.
