In sports events, the rapid recovery after high-intensity training or sport competition performance is very important for athletes'performance and health. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of laser acupuncture and electrical stimulation on the recovery from exercise fatigue, using mice with swimming fatigue as experimental model and the electromyography(EMG)and the Raman spectroscopy of blood as evaluation indicators.Root mean square(RMS)and mean power frequency(MPF)of EMG were analyzed after laser acupuncture and electrical stimulation. The amplitude frequency combined analysis(JASA)showed that the proportion of muscles in the fatigue recovery area of the control group, the laser acupuncture group, the multi-channel laser acupuncture group and the laser combined with electrical stimulation group were 34.78%,39.13%,39.13%and 43.48%,respectively.Raman spectroscopy of the mice blood during fatigue recovery showed there is a significant difference between the multi-channel laser acupuncture group and the laser combined with electric stimulation group compared with the recovery period and fatigue period(P<0:05)at the peak of 997 cm^(-1) and the laser combined electrical stimulation group had a statistical difference in the recovery period compared with the fatigue period(P<0.05)at the peak of 1561 cm^(-1).The results showed that laser acupuncture combined with electrical stimulation was beneficial to fatigue recovery in mice, and had the potential value in sports fatigue recovery. 展开更多

Hypoxia is a disorder in which the tissues are not oxygenated adequately. The lack of oxygen may cause irreversible damage to the major organs such as the brain, heart and lungs. In severe cases, coma, seizures, and death may happen. In addition to the routine medication, acupuncture.treatment has been applied as a complementary treatment to counter hypoxia. In this paper, the optical fiber acupuncture needle was fabricated using the optical fiber imbedding into the metal capillary tube with needle tip, therefore made it easy to insert into the body for the laser treatment. The laser optical fiber needle treatment to the ST36 acupoint conducted with the laser.irradiation intra body. The normobaric hypoxia tolerance test results in mice show that the optical fber needle treatment to the ST36 acupoint with laser acupuncture appears to improve the tolerance to hypoxia. The mice treated with laser acupuncture expressed high level of IL-1βin serum. Our results suggest that laser optical fiber needle acupuncture may serve as a potential treatment for hypoxia. 展开更多

This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic effects of laser acupuncture(LA)on articular cartilage degradation at the early stage of postmenopausal osteoarthritis(PMOA)by an ultrasound biomicroscopic technology.Twentyone healthy female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly and evenly divided into three groups-sham,ovariectomized(OVX)and OVXþLA groups.Only the peri-ovarian fatty tissue of the sham rats was exteriorized. The animals in the OVX and OVXþLA groups underwent bilateral ovariectomy to create a menopause model. On day 8 after the ovariectomy, the 2-week LA therapy at acupoints Guanyuan(CV-4),Sanyinjiao(SP-6),and Zusanli(ST36)was performed in the OVXþLA group, while the sham and OVX groups had a sham treatment. All the animals were sacrificed on day 22.The cartilage tissues in the left knee joint were examined by ultrasound and histology.Compared with the sham group, the significantly degenerate alterations(p<0.01)in ultrasound roughness index(URI),reflection coefficient(RC1)and cartilage thickness were found in the OVX group, while the values of these parameters were significantly recovered(p<0.01)in the OVXþLA group. The LA treatment enhanced proteoglycans(PGs)content with a significant reduce of the modified Mankin score(p<0.01).The acoustic assessment strongly correlated with the histologic evaluation. The results showed that LA treatment could alleviate the postmenopause-induced cartilage degradation and promote tissue repair.LA has potential to be a simple and safe non-pharmacological countermeasure against PMOA for geriatric patient population. The ultrasound biomicroscopic technology could be a quantitative evaluation tool of the structural and morphological responses of articular cartilage to LA intervention. 展开更多

Photobiomodulation(PBM)therapy is a therapeutic method that can produce a range of physiological effects in cells and tissues using certain wavelengths. The reparative benefits of PBM therapy include wound healing, bone regeneration, pain reduction, and the mitigation of inflammation.Advances in the development of laser instruments, including the use of high-intensity lasers in physiotherapy, have recently led to controllable photothermal and photomechanical treatments that enable therapeutic effects to be obtained without damaging tissue. The combination of PBM therapy with acupuncture may provide new perspectives for investigating the underlying therapeutic mechanisms of acupuncture and promote its widespread application. 展开更多

Objective To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of laser acupuncture on type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)of qi and yin deficiency type. Methods Laser acupuncture was used to treat 32 patients of T2DM.Acupoint selection:Fèishū(肺俞BL13),Píshū(脾俞BL20),Shènshū(肾俞BL23),Wǎnxiàshū(胃脘下俞EX-B3),Sānyīnjiāo(三阴交SP6)and Zúsānlĭ足三里(ST36).It took 20 min in each treatment, five treatments a week. There were 2 days of interval in 2 weeks of treatment. Before and after treatment, the changes in fasting plasma glucose(FPG),postprandial 2 h glucose(2hPG),fasting insulin(FINS),glycosylated albumin(GA),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)and the symptom score of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)were observed in the patients. The therapeutic effect was evaluated. Results Of 32 cases,8 cases were remarkably effective,18 cases effective and 6 cases failed. The total effective rate was 81.3%.At the end of treatment course, the level of every indicator after treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment(all P<0.01).Conclusion Laser acupuncture achieves the significant therapeutic effect on T2DM of qi and yin deficiency and this therapy deserves to be promoted in clinical application. 展开更多
