Application of Multimedia and Internet Technology in Learning Mould Design

With the use of multimedia which combines the use o f text, sound, images, motion video and animation, it is more efficient for studen ts to learn mould design interactively. A program is created using several multi media software to simulate the mechanism of moulding processes in order to let s tudents understand the concept of mould design. In addition, students can even access the program through the Internet. Therefore, the software is defined as Multimedia and Internet Technology (MIT) program. The MIT program consists of four sections: (i) simulation of mould mechanisms, ( ii) cooling system, (iii) material information and (iv) games for tutorials. Sec tion One covers the basic operations of different types of moulds such as two-p late mould, three-plate mould, split mould, side-core mould and mould with und ercuts. Section Two introduces different types of cooling systems such as bubble r, baffle, cooling circuits, etc. Section Three provides some useful material in formation for mould design. Section Four contains games of matching mould compon ents, mould design problem finding and multiple choice questions to test student s how much they understand mould design concept. Multimedia is highly effective particularly in teaching and learning. It changes the nature of learning itself. It makes reading dynamic by giving words an impo rtant new dimension. It allows students to see, hear and do simultaneously, thus significantly reducing average learning time. Furthermore, through cooperative learning on Internet, students can access the program, share data or search info rmation anytime anywhere. Therefore, Multimedia and Internet Technology is one o f the vital aspects to speed up the realization of information age in society. 展开更多

The study investigates the impact of personalized learning path design on students’self-learning abilities(SLA)within online education platforms.Employing a mixed-methods approach,the research examines the effectiveness of personalized learning through quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with a diverse sample of online learners.The findings indicate that personalized learning path design significantly enhances students’self-efficacy,engagement,and satisfaction,leading to improved SLA.The study’s conceptual model and empirical data support the hypothesis that personalization in learning environments fosters self-directed learning skills.The discussion highlights the implications for educational practice,emphasizing the need for online platforms to prioritize personalization and for educators to adapt their teaching methods to support diverse learner needs.The research also acknowledges limitations and suggests future directions,including longitudinal studies and expanded participant demographics.The study concludes that personalized learning path design is a promising strategy for online education platforms to empower learners and promote lifelong learning skills. 展开更多

With the prosperity of the Intemet, e-learning has been greatly improved. By supporting multiple learners and multiple roles in a learning activity, the IMS Leaming Design (LD) specification provides a collaborative scenario for participants. However, IMS LD provides insufficient support for interaction among learning activities and can not dynamically integrate learning resources to meet the continually changing service requirements. In this paper, a Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) enhanced requirement driven learning management architecture to address the issues of personalize adaptive learning was proposed. It models the learning activity by combining IMS LD with BPEL and matches optimal learning sequence based on Case-based reasoning (CBR) method. Tangible augmented reality (TAR) technology opens a novel realm which integrates the computer-generated elements into the real word. Its applications into design education have been explored with a limi-tation to this entire area. TAR offers an innovative learning space by merging digital learning materials into the format of media with tools or objects which are direct parts of the physical space. It is therefore conceived that such combination opens new perspectives in teaching and learning. This paper presented and evaluated one TAR system to improve the pedagogical effectiveness of experiential and collaborative learning process in urban design education. The results from the experiments were analyzed under a previously developed theoretical framework, which show that TAR can enhance the design activities in some collaborative work. 展开更多

Multiliteracies are an indispensable component of language abilities in the modern age of information technology.First proposed by the New London Group in 1996, multiliteracies refer to the abilities needed to obtain the learning resources that are transmitted through different media and modals, and to apply different modes and means to communicate with others to create meanings.The cultivation of multiliteracies is not only a systematic process of constructing knowledge but also a dynamic cycle of designing learning activities.In undertaking an international multiliteracies project, the New London Group adopted a mode of learning by design to cultivate multiliteracies.Learning by design includes three progressive components of available design, designing, and redesigned, with available design referring to the learning resources available, designing being the work to be done to make use of the learning resources obtained, and redesigned meaning the regenerated and transformed learning resources that are to become the new learning resources for available design.When it comes to the stage of redesigned, the mode of learning by design enters a new cycle.Ever since learning by design was adopted, it became the main theoretical framework used to cultivate multiliteracies.The college English teaching subsequently developed at Soochow University followed and specified the general principles of learning by design while constructing its own specific mode, trying to integrate available design and designing into a dynamic whole geared toward cultivating multiliteracies(one of the three abilities needed to use English, together with language expression abilities and intercultural communication competences).With regard to available design, efforts were made toward building and expanding various learning resources, facilities, settings, environments, and other learning support systems at Soochow University.This was done to provide easy and selectable accesses to the Net^+ based multimedia forms of different learning resources and specific course contents.In designing, different task-based and project-driven classroom and extracurricular/term explorative learning activities, particularly those revolving around the two courses of Film English and Media English Reading, were created for students to actively undertake cooperative and interactive learning, facilitating their language application.The teaching of available design and designing was interdependently progressed and students' language acquisition and application were systematically integrated to promote the effective cultivation of multiliteracies. 展开更多
