Listening is an important input way of language learning,and is closely related to language learning.Now,listening is still a weakness for English learners in colleges.In recent years,many experts and scholars have explored the application of lexical chunks in teaching,trying to solve the problem of students’vocabulary acquisition.However,there are relatively few researches between lexical chunks and listening achievement.Based on the lexical chunks theory,the research finds that lexical chunks teaching can relieve students’anxiety in English listening,improve their English listening scores,and stimulate students’chunk consciousness. 展开更多

Lexical chunk approach refers to using chunk theory to guide students to establish chunk awareness,and with the help of various teaching methods,to create various opportunities to help students properly use fixed or semi-fixed expressions in communication.Through empirical investigation,it is found that there are problems in College English translation teaching,such as single teaching mode,concepts to be updated,cultural differences and obstacles,etc.This paper conducts in-depth discussion of its impact on college students'ability to translate from Chinese to English.Chunk teaching is helpful in fluency,accuracy and decency of language output.Finally,the author puts forward suggestions such as enhancing the awareness of language blocks,strengthening the accumulation of language blocks,optimizing the design of language block exercises,and attaching importance to the cultivation of learning strategies,so as to effectively improve the translation level of college students. 展开更多

The present paper examines the vocabulary contained in the British animated programme Peppa Pig and investigates whether this vocabulary is highly frequent but also appropriate for beginner learners of English.It also examines if there is any formulaic language in it.Comparison with the BNC wordlist,the CYLET and EVP wordlists for beginners suggests that one fifth of the English vocabulary contained in the show is highly frequent and that a small amount of it overlaps with the proposed vocabulary lists of CYLET and EVP for A1 level.Therefore,the majority of the vocabulary contained in the show is mainly infrequent but still appropriate while the in-depth analysis of selective episodes showed amplitude of formulaic language in the show and plenty repetition of it. 展开更多
