Using a case study methodology and focusing on the Italian context, this exploratory study, through a qualitative approach, interviewed two main cruise terminal concessionaires and indirectly observed events planned by cruise companies in sea ports selected for outlining the role of control systems, coordination, and knowledge sharing between the players in cruise events decision-making processes. The first results show that the cruise event management processes on ship berthing and on terminal are separated. The cruise companies don't involve terminal concessionaires in the event organization considering them only service suppliers Also, the concessionaires conceive the events planned in the cruise infrastructures as a business unit to optimize the space use, without any forms of coordination or control with cruise companies. Knowledge sharing, coordination, and control among the two players could support the planning, and management of "new cruise events" in which the visitors may be led from the infrastructure to the ships stopped on the quay. This study offers a set of key performance indicators to support the management, control, and coordination of each inter-organizational relationship identified. Managerial implications and suggestions for improving cruise events management have been provided.展开更多

In this paper, a KPI evaluation architecture is presented to define and analyze KPIs, and then a common structure for KPI to obtain the KPI set of manufacturing equipment is introduced. An available multi-KPl coordination model is proposed to discern and balance the relationship among multi-KPl. The world economical situation and the global container market have impro...Containerization with its increasing share in seaborne trade highlights the importance of assessing container terminals performance indicators. The world economical situation and the global container market have improved slightly after the 2008 world economical crises. Egyptian container terminals are important to serve the world liner services in particular the main east-west routes. Egypt is considered the leading country in Africa and the 18th worldwide in serving the liner markets. Alexandria container terminal as a medium size terminal shows an acceptable super/infra structure facilities and throughput. The analysis of Alexandria container terminal performance indicators from 2007 to 2011 shows a slightly progressive trend. Selected indicators, reflecting production, productivity, utilization and service measures, were used according to the available data. Terminal production shows a slight increasing demand concerning number of vessels and TEUs (Twenty Equivalent Units). Furthermore, productivity indicators proved remarkable development in moves per working hours rather than moves per hours in port, deducing lack of port services accompanying cargo handling. Moreover, Utilization measurements show the terminal occupancy ratio fluctuating from 45% to 67% with slight development. Finally, Service measures show progress in vessels turnaround time, while long wasted time consumed in processes rather than operation was observed.展开更多

Nonetheless, an apparent gap exists between the need for ITS performance measurements and the actual implementation. The evidence available points to challenges in the ITS performance measurement processes. This paper evaluated the state of practice of performance measurement for ITS across the US and provided insights. A comprehensive literature review assessed the use of performance measures by DOTs for monitoring implemented ITS programs. Based on the gaps identified through the literature review, a nationwide qualitative survey was used to gather insights from key stakeholders on the subject matter and presented in this paper. From the data gathered, performance measurement of ITS is fairly integrated into ITS programs by DOTs, with most agencies considering the process beneficial. There, however, exist reasons that prevent agencies from measuring ITS performance to greater detail and quality. These include lack of data, fragmented or incomparable data formats, the complexity of the endeavor, lack of data scientists, and difficulty assigning responsibilities when inter-agency collaboration is required. Additionally, DOTs do not benchmark or compare their ITS performance with others for reasons that include lack of data, lack of guidance or best practices, and incomparable data formats. This paper is relevant as it provides insights expected to guide DOTs and other agencies in developing or reevaluating their ITS performance measurement processes.展开更多

These systems can also be useful in improving social welfare leading t...Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) play a fundamental role in reducing traffic congestion and increasing safety during daily transportation. These systems can also be useful in improving social welfare leading to general satisfaction. Proper performance evaluation can be efficient in improving the performance of these systems, and providing a scientific assessment index system can assist decision-makers in smart communities to plan for the development of ITS. However, the evaluation of these systems requires identifying appropriate indicators of performance evaluation that are consistent with the views of the beneficiaries of these systems. In this paper, performance evaluation indicators of ITS have been identified, and three indicators entitled “environmental and safety”, “assistance in reducing traffic congestion” and “attractive public transport” are presented to evaluate the performance of these systems. Moreover, the intelligent transport systems of the Tehran-Karaj Freeway in Iran are studied, and inferential statistical methods are employed to test the research hypotheses. It is worth noticing that in this study, a one-sample T-test method is used for hypotheses assessment and the SPSS software was used to analyze the findings. Also, the results demonstrated that the performance of ITS in the Tehran-Karaj Freeway regarding the indicators, such as “Declaration of route blocking information due to maintenance or reconstruction” and “Declaration of path geometry conditions” has not been acceptable.展开更多

This analysis is not intended to grade agencies but to assist in identifying agencies requi...This study develops a procedure to rank agencies based on their incident responses using roadway clearance times for crashes. This analysis is not intended to grade agencies but to assist in identifying agencies requiring more training or resources for incident management. Previous NCHRP reports discussed usage of different factors including incident severity, roadway characteristics, number of lanes involved and time of incident separately for estimating the performance. However, it does not tell us how to incorporate all the factors at the same time. Thus, this study aims to account for multiple factors to ensure fair comparisons. This study used 149,174 crashes from Iowa that occurred from 2018 to 2021. A Tobit regression model was used to find the effect of different variables on roadway clearance time. Variables that cannot be controlled directly by agencies such as crash severity, roadway type, weather conditions, lighting conditions, etc., were included in the analysis as it helps to reduce bias in the ranking procedure. Then clearance time of each crash is normalized into a base condition using the regression coefficients. The normalization makes the process more efficient as the effect of uncontrollable factors has already been mitigated. Finally, the agencies were ranked by their average normalized roadway clearance time. This ranking process allows agencies to track their performance of previous crashes, can be used in identifying low performing agencies that could use additional resources and training, and can be used to identify high performing agencies to recognize for their efforts and performance.展开更多
This paper presents a novel geometric parameters analysis to improve the measurement accuracy of stereo deflectometry.Stereo deflectometry can be used to obtain form information for freeform specular surfaces.A measur...This paper presents a novel geometric parameters analysis to improve the measurement accuracy of stereo deflectometry.Stereo deflectometry can be used to obtain form information for freeform specular surfaces.A measurement system based on stereo deflectometry typically consists of a fringe-displaying screen,a main camera,and a reference camera.The arrangement of the components of a stereo deflectometry system is important for achieving high-accuracy measurements.In this paper,four geometric parameters of a stereo deflectometry system are analyzed and evaluated:the distance between the main camera and the measured object surface,the angle between the main camera ray and the surface normal,the distance between the fringe-displaying screen and the object,and the angle between the main camera and the reference camera.The influence of the geometric parameters on the measurement accuracy is evaluated.Experiments are performed using simulated and experimental data.The experimental results confirm the impact of these parameters on the measurement accuracy.A measurement system based on the proposed analysis has been set up to measure a stock concave mirror.Through a comparison of the given surface parameters of the concave mirror,a global measurement accuracy of 154.2 nm was achieved.展开更多

When it comes to construction firms, most previous research did not cover weighting and estimation approaches for non-financial elements that ultimately influence financial status. In this research, the objective is to develop a management performance evaluation model for Korean construction firms. The model includes financial factors and non-financial factors. This research investigated actual data from Korean construction firmsandclassifiedtheir characteristics. This study is performed in two steps. First, this study derives KPIs for performance measurement techniques and weights the KPIs. And then, it applies the performance data of construction firms to the technique. The findings of this study show that Korean construction firms consider customers to be the foremost priority, converse to previous research which argued that the internal business process was the top priority. The performance measurement results can be fed back into strategies and plans to shed light on issues, reflect on management plans for subsequent years and modify mid to long-term strategies. Therefore, the developed model can help decision-makers effectively revise their management plans.展开更多

Our survey of the literature revealed that most studies tend to use several performance criteria to evaluate the performance of competing forecasting models;however, models are compared to each other using a single criterion at a time, which often leads to different rankings for different criteria—A situation where one cannot make an informed decision as to which model performs best when taking all criteria into account. In order to overcome this methodological problem, Xu and Ouenniche [1] proposed a multidimensional framework based on an input-oriented radial super-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to rank order competing forecasting models of crude oil prices’ volatility. 目的遴选目前疾病诊断相关分组(Diagnosis Related Groups,DRGs)背景下的精神专科医院的绩效评价指标,初步构建评价指标体系,为精神专科医院医疗绩效评价指标体系建立提供建议和参考。方法基于国家及北京市属医院绩效考核指标体系,结合...目的遴选目前疾病诊断相关分组(Diagnosis Related Groups,DRGs)背景下的精神专科医院的绩效评价指标,初步构建评价指标体系,为精神专科医院医疗绩效评价指标体系建立提供建议和参考。方法基于国家及北京市属医院绩效考核指标体系,结合现有DRGs评价指标,确定评价指标,运用改良德尔菲法进行两轮专家咨询,结合精神专科医院患者及诊疗服务特点,对现有绩效评价指标体系进行调整,建立适用于精神专科医院医疗绩效评价的指标体系。结果两轮专家积极程度均为100%、专家权威程度分别为0.78和0.82、Kendall’s W协调系数分别为0.16和0.27,两轮Cronbach’sα系数均大于0.8,最终形成的指标体系包含3个一级指标、48个二级指标。结论本研究构建的精神专科医院绩效评价指标体系,通过增加“短住院(<60天)平均住院日”“短住院(<60天)人数占比”等适用性指标,删减不适用指标,可以更客观地评价不同级别精神专科医院的医疗绩效情况,为提升精神专科医院医疗服务质量提供参考依据。展开更多

This ranking process allows agencies to track their performance of previous crashes, can be used in identifying low performing agencies that could use additional resources and training, and can be used to identify high performing agencies to recognize for their efforts and performance.
文摘This paper presents a novel geometric parameters analysis to improve the measurement accuracy of stereo deflectometry.Stereo deflectometry can be used to obtain form information for freeform specular surfaces.A measurement system based on stereo deflectometry typically consists of a fringe-displaying screen,a main camera,and a reference camera.The arrangement of the components of a stereo deflectometry system is important for achieving high-accuracy measurements.In this paper,four geometric parameters of a stereo deflectometry system are analyzed and evaluated:the distance between the main camera and the measured object surface,the angle between the main camera ray and the surface normal,the distance between the fringe-displaying screen and the object,and the angle between the main camera and the reference camera.The influence of the geometric parameters on the measurement accuracy is evaluated.Experiments are performed using simulated and experimental data.The experimental results confirm the impact of these parameters on the measurement accuracy.A measurement system based on the proposed analysis has been set up to measure a stock concave mirror.Through a comparison of the given surface parameters of the concave mirror,a global measurement accuracy of 154.2 nm was achieved.
文摘Corporate management performance evaluation currently focuses on financial aspects;however, it is necessary to identify and manage elements that contribute to increased economic values in the long run. When it comes to construction firms, most previous research did not cover weighting and estimation approaches for non-financial elements that ultimately influence financial status. In this research, the objective is to develop a management performance evaluation model for Korean construction firms. The model includes financial factors and non-financial factors. This research investigated actual data from Korean construction firmsandclassifiedtheir characteristics. This study is performed in two steps. First, this study derives KPIs for performance measurement techniques and weights the KPIs. And then, it applies the performance data of construction firms to the technique. The findings of this study show that Korean construction firms consider customers to be the foremost priority, converse to previous research which argued that the internal business process was the top priority. The performance measurement results can be fed back into strategies and plans to shed light on issues, reflect on management plans for subsequent years and modify mid to long-term strategies. Therefore, the developed model can help decision-makers effectively revise their management plans.
文摘According to the development status of Chinese listed companies, it is important to implement a stock option incentive plan for the top executives (TE) of the companies. It is necessary to establish a set of indices to evaluate a top executive’s performance and award performance-based stock options to them scientifically and reasonably. This thesis sets indices from the perspective of the top executive’s behaviour and results, which differs from the traditional methods performance evaluation.

文摘The research performance of top universities in China is revealed in this study and analyzed using the essential science indicators(ESI) database.Different types of bibliometric indicators are applied in this study,including publication output and impact indicators.This study finds that the academic performance of universities in China is advancing rapidly,with many universities coming out near the top of the rankings,especially in terms of quantity of papers.The quantitative performance of universities in China is remarkable.The research results show that there is a considerable gap between quality and quantity of research output at the top universities of China,with research influence concentrated on some specific fields for selected universities.Engineering,Chemistry and Material Science are the fields with relatively outstanding performance in the top universities.
文摘With the increasing number of quantitative models available to forecast the volatility of crude oil prices, the assessment of the relative performance of competing models becomes a critical task. Our survey of the literature revealed that most studies tend to use several performance criteria to evaluate the performance of competing forecasting models;however, models are compared to each other using a single criterion at a time, which often leads to different rankings for different criteria—A situation where one cannot make an informed decision as to which model performs best when taking all criteria into account. In order to overcome this methodological problem, Xu and Ouenniche [1] proposed a multidimensional framework based on an input-oriented radial super-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to rank order competing forecasting models of crude oil prices’ volatility. However, their approach suffers from a number of issues. In this paper, we overcome such issues by proposing an alternative framework.
文摘This paper presents a new measuring method based on the simulating technology and measuring technology, researches and analyzes deeply its network performance evaluating model, measuring methods, evaluating algorithms and system implementation. Experimental results argue that this method can define expediently different models of manual simulated loads and configure neatly different environments of network applications, can develop adequately characteristics of widespread applications and accuracy in simulating technology, as well as reality, reliability and better adaptability in measuring technology.
文摘目的遴选目前疾病诊断相关分组(Diagnosis Related Groups,DRGs)背景下的精神专科医院的绩效评价指标,初步构建评价指标体系,为精神专科医院医疗绩效评价指标体系建立提供建议和参考。方法基于国家及北京市属医院绩效考核指标体系,结合现有DRGs评价指标,确定评价指标,运用改良德尔菲法进行两轮专家咨询,结合精神专科医院患者及诊疗服务特点,对现有绩效评价指标体系进行调整,建立适用于精神专科医院医疗绩效评价的指标体系。结果两轮专家积极程度均为100%、专家权威程度分别为0.78和0.82、Kendall’s W协调系数分别为0.16和0.27,两轮Cronbach’sα系数均大于0.8,最终形成的指标体系包含3个一级指标、48个二级指标。结论本研究构建的精神专科医院绩效评价指标体系,通过增加“短住院(<60天)平均住院日”“短住院(<60天)人数占比”等适用性指标,删减不适用指标,可以更客观地评价不同级别精神专科医院的医疗绩效情况,为提升精神专科医院医疗服务质量提供参考依据。
