Research and Evolution Based on Library and Information Science in China

Contemporary society is an information society with highly developed information.Its network and digital characteristics are bringing tremendous changes to the whole society.China's library and information science is no exception,and its research content is also expanding.It is a core journal that can reflect the actual situation of research in the subject area and conduct academic exchange as an authoritative representative of a certain subject area.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to conduct comprehensive research based on the development history of library and information science,quantitative and qualitative analysis of academic journal articles,research related topics and keywords,not only to further understand library and information science,but also to accumulate knowledge of library and information science,and also through scientific development trend,based on the experience summarized by the predecessors,allows us to more fully recognize the important role of library science and information science,and to improve the theoretical literacy and research level of relevant researchers.At this stage,it is even more necessary for researchers to look at and study library and information science with a developmental perspective?Based on this,the article mainly analyzes the research significance of library and information science,and analyzes the output of China,s library and information science journals.It uses Ucinet software to visualize the main research hotspots,and finally analyzes the dynamic factors affecting the research of library and information science in China in order to provide a reference.

An overview on the development of Chinese library and information science journals

This paper gives an overview of the history and the present status of Chinese library and information science journals, and introduces the operation and management of Chinese library and information science journals by taking Journal of Library Science In China, Library and Information Service, Journal of Academic Libraries, and Journal of Information Science as examples. Besides, six suggestions are given for the future development of Chinese library and information science journals.

An Informetric analysis of web citation in Chinese journals of Library and Information Science in recent years

This paper selects 998 articles as its data sources from four Chinese core journals in the field of Library and Information Science from 2003 to 2007.Some pertinent aspects of reference citations particularly from web resources are selected for a focused analysis and discussion.This includes primarily such items as the number of web citations,web citations per each article,the distribution of domain names of web citations and also certain aspects about the institutional and/or geographical affiliations of the author.The evolving situation of utilizing online networked academic information resources in China is the central thematic discussion of this study.The writing of this paper is augmented by the explicatory presentation of 3 graphic figures,6 tables and 18 references.

What Does Information Science Offer for Data Science Research?:A Review of Data and Information Ethics Literature

This paper reviews literature pertaining to the development of data science as a discipline,current issues with data bias and ethics,and the role that the discipline of information science may play in addressing these concerns.Information science research and researchers have much to offer for data science,owing to their background as transdisciplinary scholars who apply human-centered and social-behavioral perspectives to issues within natural science disciplines.Information science researchers have already contributed to a humanistic approach to data ethics within the literature and an emphasis on data science within information schools all but ensures that this literature will continue to grow in coming decades.This review article serves as a reference for the history,current progress,and potential future directions of data ethics research within the corpus of information science literature.

The Educational Role of Library: Information Literacy, Competence, and Standards

This paper deals with the educational role of library, especially university library, and in connection to this, information literacy, competence, and standards in information science. Microcomputers and their current application allow students to use them in laboratories, lecture halls, and libraries;software that are so developed that they allow to various types of computers (micros, picos, or hand-held computers) easy integration with larger systems. In this context libraries, as institutions become one of several available nodes in the information network, the new organization of teaching requires that teachers and students are computer literate requires libraries to provide methods and techniques for handling, through expert systems, their diverse searches, and similar (video disc, for example). Along with terms informatics and information science, there is also the term informatology which denotes theory and practice of emission, transmission, accumulation, selection, and absorption of information, the so-called ETAKSA complex. This paper, therefore, will be discussed communication and communication processes in university libraries that take place using new types of media, which we jointly referred to as information science and in the sea of definitions;we can say that we have added another.

图书情报硕士专业学位(MLIS)教育发展状况调查报告(2023)

[目的/意义]全面、客观地反映我国MLIS教育在2023年的状况和发展变化。[研究设计/方法]采用调查问卷收集MLIS培养单位师资、招生、教育培养、就业等方面的数据,通过统计描述和对比反映现状,揭示发展变化。[结论/发现]我国MLIS教育稳健发展。具体表现为:师资队伍稳定增长,招生规模不断扩大,培养特色鲜明,毕业生就业状况良好,各培养单位的课程设置、教育资源建设和培养过程管理日益规范。[创新/价值]连续11年发布MLIS教育发展状况调查报告,为学位和教育管理部门以及各培养单位决策提供支持。

基于BERT-LDA的国外LIS领域学科交叉研究演化分析与前沿主题识别

识别学科交叉研究的前沿主题,并对演化趋势进行分析,有助于揭示学科交叉融合的方向,为未来创新性、突破性研究提供参考。首先,基于引文视角构建测度论文学科交叉性的指标,识别具有学科交叉性的研究论文;其次,通过BERT-LDA模型识别研究主题,利用余弦相似度计算主题之间的相似度,构建主题演化路径;最后,基于新颖度、增长性、关注度、影响力构建前沿主题识别指标体系,识别具有前沿性的学科交叉研究主题。以图书情报学(Library and Information Science,LIS)为例展开研究,研究结果显示,2004—2023年该学科领域的交叉研究主题呈现出逐渐细化和深入的特点,主要集中在信息挖掘与知识发现、互联网信息行为、医疗信息学3个方面;现阶段学科交叉研究前沿主题为医疗数据模型、舆情治理与情感分析、机器学习与深度学习;基于信息技术的研究方法和其在不同领域的应用研究具有良好的应用前景,有可能成为未来LIS领域的核心研究主题。

A comparative study of information diffusion in weblogs and microblogs based on social network analysis

Purpose: This paper intends to explore a quantitative method for investigating the characteristics of information diffusion through social media like weblogs and microblogs.By using the social network analysis methods,we attempt to analyze the different characteristics of information diffusion in weblogs and microblogs as well as the possible reasons of these differences.Design/methodology/approach: Using the social network analysis methods,this paper carries out an empirical study by taking the Chinese weblogs and microblogs in the field of Library and Information Science(LIS) as the research sample and employing measures such as network density,core/peripheral structure and centrality.Findings: Firstly,both bloggers and microbloggers maintain weak ties,and both of their social networks display a small-world effect. Secondly,compared with weblog users,microblog users are more interconnected,more equal and more capable of developing relationships with people outside their own social networks. Thirdly,the microblogging social network is more conducive to information diffusion than the blogging network,because of their differences in functions and the information flow mechanism. Finally,the communication mode emerged with microblogging,with the characteristics of micro-content,multi-channel information dissemination,dense and decentralized social network and content aggregation,will be one of the trends in the development of the information exchange platform in the future.Research limitations: The sample size needs to be increased so that samples are more representative. Errors may exist during the data collection. Moreover,the individual-level characteristics of the samples as well as the types of information exchanged need to be further studied.Practical implications: This preliminary study explores the characteristics of information diffusion in the network environment and verifies the feasibility of conducting a quantitative analysis of information diffusion through social media. In addition,it provides insight into the characteristics of information diffusion in weblogs and microblogs and the possible reasons of these differences.Originality/value: We have analyzed the characteristics of information diffusion in weblogs and microblogs by using the social network analysis methods. This research will be useful for a quantitative analysis of the underlying mechanisms of information flow through social media in the network environment.

Enriching online access to health information for the public: Efforts from a medical library in China

Purpose: Disseminating medical and health information is a mission of a public medical library. This paper describes a practice of a medical library in providing online access to health information for the general public.Design/methodology/approach: A four-step workflow is developed to integrate and disseminate heterogeneous health information from medical associations. First, a raw data repository is developed to manage the original submissions from information providers.Second, each document in the raw data repository is represented in a standardized XML schema. Third, the medical terms are identified and manually annotated, enriching the semantics of health information. Lastly, all the semantically enriched XML documents are converted to HTMLs for online dissemination.Findings: A health information website, CHealth, was developed for Chinese speakers. It provides free online access for all without any login or IP constrains. CHealth is available at www.chealth.org.cn.Research limitations: The current workflow is time-consuming and labor-intensive due to the lack of information submission/exchange standard and commonly agreed-on consumer health terminology in Chinese.Originality/value: In this work, the target audience of the medical library has been extended from traditional academic/professional to the general public. Methodologies in library sciences have been combined with those in consumer health informatics in CHealth development.

A comparative study on institutional collaboration characteristics in EM and LIS in China

Purpose： This study analyzes the current status of institutional cooperation in economics and management （EM） and library and information science （LIS） in China.Design/methodology/approach： Based on the Chinese Social Science Citation Index （CSSCI） database, we constructed institutional collaboration networks in EM and LIS, and analyzed the collaboration characteristics through social network analysis.Findings： In the development and evolution of the collaboration network of institutions in humanities and social sciences, EM is always at the center. It has extensive cooperation relationships with other fields. The position of LIS has also become centralized, and its interdisciplinary cooperation has increased. For both EM and LIS, we observed ＂small-world＂ and ＂scale-free＂ networks, indicating full communication and mature development in both disciplines. Based on a comparison of two institutions in the two fields, we confirmed the comprehensive development in EM and the extensive information exchange in LIS.Research limitations： We collected data only from humanities and social sciences, but did not consider the connection between EM and natural sciences, or between LIS and natural sciences. In addition, the paper lacks analysis of institutional collaboration at the micro level.Practical implications： The paper provides insights into the institutional cooperation characteristics in EM and LIS in China.Originality/value： The paper offers a new perspective on the characteristics of institutional collaboration in China.

Adjusting the information service strategies according to users' requirements—A survey of the library users' information requirements in the four library systems of Zhejiang province

Based on a survey of the circumstances of the information requirements in social science from more than 3,800 library users in 48 libraries of the four major library systems in Zhejiang Province,this paper analyzes the present main characteristics of the users' requirements to the social science document information and puts forward some proposals for adjusting the document information service strategies for the library and information institutions.

Introduction to information seeking behavior—A review of literature and field practice directions

The article tries to discover the major authors in the field of information seeking behavior via social network analysis. It is to be accomplished through a literature review and also by focusing on a graphic map showing the seven most productive coauthors in this field. Based on these seven authors' work, five probable research directions about information seeking behavior are discerned and presented.

中美LIS学院课程设置比较研究

采用网站调查法、文献调查法、比较分析法,调查分析了中美各10所大学图书情报专业的课程设置情况,从核心课程、选修课程、技术课程、实践课程等角度进行比较,并总结了中美两国图书情报专业课程设置的各自特点与不同点,以期为我国图书情报教育提供参考。

图书情报硕士专业学位(MLIS)教育发展状况调查报告(2016)

2016年,我们组织实施了第四次全国MLIS教育发展状况调查。本报告从MLIS培养单位、师资、招生、生源、教育培养五个方面系统地展示2016年我国MLIS教育现状,并通过与往年数据的比较,反映MLIS教育的发展态势。对30所MLIS培养单位的调查显示,2016年MLIS培养单位的专任师资总数达到806名,MLIS导师477名,兼职导师385名。招收MLIS研究生737人,较2015年增加4.54%。其中,来自985和211工程院校的占26.59%,跨专业考生占73.41%。大多培养单位针对社会需求调整其课程与教学,在注重专业实践性的同时逐步形成自身特色。除此之外,本调查还涉及2016年MLIS研究生就业状况、教学资源建设、培养成果考核等方面。

欧洲LIS教育及其合作框架

本文基于欧洲LIS教育的调查数据,概述了欧洲LIS教育机构的组织性质,欧洲LIS教育合作框架。从国际化、学位体系、主题领域和核心课程三方面详尽地讨论了欧洲LIS教育的实施。指出欧洲LIS教育的合作机制及其相关实施方法对中国目前的LIS教育也具有借鉴意义。

iSchool的迷思:对iSchool运动有关LIS、iField及其关系的认知的反思

本文以iSchool运动在全球范围内的迅速扩张为背景,以iSchool运动相关文献为依据,梳理iSchool运动对LIS和iField两个学科的认知,然后从学科历史性、正当性和合法性的角度反思当前认知。反思结果显示,尽管iSchool运动是一场针对原图书馆情报学院的教育改革运动,却伴随着影响更加深远的学科重组。图书馆情报学(Library and Information Science,LIS)作为运动发起者的原生学科,是其首要的重组对象;iField作为其致力打造的新学科,则是其期望的重组结果。在这一重组过程中,LIS被严重曲解,iField被过度期许。本文认为,将iSchool运动建立在上述认知之上,会使LIS学科、LIS教育甚至iSchool学院都面临巨大的自我否定风险,因此建议iSchool学院在区分LIS学科(LIS as a discipline)和LIS社群(LIS as a community)的基础上,重新审视当初的LIS教育危机。图3。参考文献65。

我国LIS教育中实践教学的调查分析

图书馆学情报学(LIS)应用型的学科性质决定了在专业人才培养中必须注重学生实践与创新能力的培养。文章对国内28所拥有LIS一级学科硕士授予权和11所拥有LIS博士学位授予权的教育机构有关实践教学的情况进行了问卷调查和网络调查,分析了这些机构在实验课程设置、社会实践、专业实习及学生科研活动等方面的情况,以及各学校为实践教学提供的保障条件,认为我国LIS教育中的实践教学应该从教学内容、教师的实践能力以及与行业的交流等方面加以改进与完善。
