We explore Knowledge Editing Techniques (KME), which guarantee that LLMs maintain current knowledge and are essential for providing accurate and up-to-date information. The datasets analyzed in this article are intended to evaluate LLM performance on educational tasks, such as error correction and question answering. We acknowledge the limitations of LLMs while highlighting their fundamental educational capabilities in writing, math, programming, and reasoning. We also explore two promising system architectures: a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) framework and a unified LLM approach, for LLM-based education. The MoE approach makes use of specialized LLMs under the direction of a central controller for various subjects. We also discuss the use of LLMs for individualized feedback and their possibility in content creation, including the creation of videos, quizzes, and plans. In our final section, we discuss the difficulties and potential solutions for incorporating LLMs into educational systems, highlighting the importance of factual accuracy, reducing bias, and fostering critical thinking abilities. The purpose of this survey is to show the promise of LLMs as well as the issues that still need to be resolved in order to facilitate their responsible and successful integration into the educational ecosystem.展开更多

For both Aristotle and Mezirow, the exercise of morality, or rising to the standard of moral choice, decision, and action, is not the result of an intuitive achievement or a sudden understanding of a morally demanding situation but a lifelong affair. Our strategy here addresses three aims: Firstly, to invoke and reclaim the endemic bond between education in the broader sense of paideia and the significant role that reeds to be re-ascribed to moral education. This allows a turn towards qualitative features and makes room for an inclusion of moral education, or values education, within education. Secondly, to portray the exercise of autonomy, choice, and judgment as a result of paideutic development; both theories share the assumption that moral learning rests on constant reflection upon past experiences and the zetesis of future goals. Thirdly, to focus on the way one reclaims the right to exercise judgment, whenever this is required. A joint study of the two theories may enlighten the content of this lifelong reflective procedure.展开更多

Implementers choose a communication model consistent with the fundamental orality of Kenyan and other sub-Saharan African countries. The project involved four hospitals and one training institution in rural Kenya. The testing of learners and focus group discussions with learners, facilitators and presenters indicated that the project's methodologies, that strove to be culturally and work place friendly, contributed to gains in knowledge, competencies including case management, the continuity of patient care, team work, staff morale and other issues of expressed importance to the hospital healthcare work force and hospital administrators. The learning system, known as Advancing Continuing Medical Education through Information Technology (ACME-IT), was implemented by the Kenyan Ministry of Medical Services, EC Associates and the US-funded Aphia2 Western initiative implemented by PATH. The findings of this pilot suggests that the ACME-IT methodology that set up learning centers at the participating institutions is a promising viable alternative to the traditional and relatively expensive workshop training that characterizes much of CME in lower and middle income countries.展开更多

Problem based learning was developed in the 1960s by Harold Barrows at McMaster University Medical School in Canada. Since then, PBL had been im-plemented as a teaching method in other reputable education institutions internationally, includ-ing nursing education. Curriculum reform is proposed through PBL in conjunction with patient simulation in undergraduate nursing education. The first author, Tan Kan Ku, PhD Candidate, MHS (Transcultural Mental Health—by Research) worked as a Registered Nurse for more than two decades internationally in England, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and Australia, where she worked as a Case Manager in Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Program. Since 2001, she focused on nurse education and research into the stigma of mental illness from a cross-cultural perspective. Currently, she teaches Mental Health, Cultural Diversity and Research in the Diploma of Nursing course at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, while completing her PhD thesis for examination at Charisma University. The second author, Dr. Michael Ha, FSA, MAAA, CFA, CPA (Australia) FRM, PRM, LLM, is the Founding Director of the MSc Financial Mathematics programme at Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He was previously Vice President of Strategic Business In-itiatives Units at ING Life Insurance in its Taiwan operation. Ninety percent of his students are enrolled in the Financial Mathematics programme. They learn not only mathematics and statistics theories but also their applications in the Finance and Investment areas, especially Portfolio Con-struction and Financial Risk Management. Creating a real-world Finance work environment in university lecture-halls embracing theories and practice, Dr. Ha strongly believes the PBL method can be employed in the Financial Mathematics training agenda so students can be better-prepared for work. Students are no longer instructed-learners but active thinkers and problem-solvers. Conclusion: Educators in fields such as Medical, Nursing, Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Ac-counting, Computing, etc., need to be prepared to change their teaching philosophy from didactic to problem solving for PBL to be implemented. Constructive alignment is recommended for curri-culum reform.展开更多

文摘Although the education sector is improving more quickly than ever with the help of advancing technologies, there are still many areas yet to be discovered, and there will always be room for further enhancements. Two of the most disruptive technologies, machine learning(ML)and blockchain, have helped replace conventional approaches used in the education sector with highly technical and effective methods. In this study,a system is proposed that combines these two radiant technologies and helps resolve problems such as forgeries of educational records and fake degrees. The idea here is that if these technologies can be merged and a system can be developed that uses blockchain to store student data and ML to accurately predict the future job roles for students after graduation, the problems of further counterfeiting and insecurity in the student achievements can be avoided.Further,ML models will be used to train and predict valid data. This system will provide the university with an official decentralized database of student records who have graduated from there. In addition, this system provides employers with a platform where the educational records of the employees can be verified.Students can share their educational information in their e-portfolios on platforms such as LinkedIn,which is a platform for managing professional profiles. This allows students, companies, and other industries to find approval for student data more easily.
文摘Strengthening moral learning may become available to us by bringing phronesis and transformative learning in a common theoretical space. A joint study of the two theories may enlighten the content of this lifelong reflective procedure.
文摘A distance learning Continuing Medical Education (CME) project based on live interactive presentations and a group participatory model demonstrated that important strides can be made in the quality of CME available to health care professionals in African rural settings. The findings of this pilot suggests that the ACME-IT methodology that set up learning centers at the participating institutions is a promising viable alternative to the traditional and relatively expensive workshop training that characterizes much of CME in lower and middle income countries.
文摘Vocational education can effectively improve the vocational skills of employees, improve people’s traditional concept of vocational education, and focus on the training of vocational skills for students by using new educational methods and concepts,so that they can master key vocational skills and develop key abilities. In this paper, three different learning models,Deep Knowledge Tracing(DKT),Dynamic Key-Value Memory Networks(DKVMN)and Double Deep Q-network(DDQN),are used to evaluate the indicators in the vocational education system. On the one hand, the influence of learning degree on the performance of the model is compared,on the other hand, the performance evaluation of three models under the same learning effect is compared,so as to obtain the best learning model applied to the field of skill training. In order to accurately evaluate the learning status of students, the loss function curves under three models are compared. Finally, the error rate of students in vocational skills education tends to be zero, and the learning process of intensive learning effectively improves students’mastery of skills and key abilities.
文摘Background and Objective:Social media(SoMe)has emerged as a tool in health professions education(HPE),particularly amidst the challenges posed by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.Despite the academia’s initial skepticism SoMe has been gaining traction in supporting learning communities, and offering opportunities for innovation in HPE.Our study aims to explore the integration of SoMe in HPE.Four key components were outlined as necessary for a successful integration, and include designing learning experiences, defining educator roles, selecting appropriate platforms, and establishing educational objectives. Methods:This article stemmed from the online Teaching Skills Series module on SoMe in education from the Ophthalmology Foundation, and drew upon evidence supporting learning theories relevant to SoMe integration and models of education.Additionally,we conducted a literature review considering Englishlanguage articles on the application of SoMe in ophthalmology from PubMed over the past decade.Key Content and Findings:Early adopters of SoMe platforms in HPE have leveraged these tools to enhance learning experiences through interaction, dialogue, content sharing, and active learning strategies.By integrating SoMe into educational programs, both online and in-person,educators can overcome time and geographical constraints, fostering more diverse and inclusive learning communities.Careful consideration is,however, necessary to address potential limitations within HPE.Conclusions:This article lays groundwork for expanding SoMe integration in HPE design, emphasizing the supportive scaffold of various learning theories, and the need of furthering robust research on examining its advantages over traditional educational formats. Our literature review underscores an ongoing multifaceted, random application of SoMe platforms in ophthalmology education. We advocate for an effective incorporation of SoMe in HPE education, with the need to comply with good educational practice.

文摘Background: Problem based learning (PBL) is an innovative way of delivering instruction in which problems are used as the basis of learning. Constructive alignment is recommended for curri-culum reform.
