They are synthesized by the elongation of very long fatty acids-4(ELOVL4) enzyme, expressed mainly in the brain, retina, skin, testes, and meibomian gland, where these fatty acids are found(Agbaga et al., 2008). Further, these organs exhibit tissuespecific VLC-PUFA and VLC-SFA biosynthesis and incorporation into complex lipids for specific functions. In the brain, skin, and Meibomian glands, the ELOVL4 mainly makes VLC-SFA, which are incorporated into complex sphingolipids. In the retina, the ELOVL4 makes VLC-PUFA that are incorporated into phosphatidylcholine, that are critical for visual function, while in testes and sperm, the VLC-PUFA are incorporated into sphingolipids that are critical for fertility(Yeboah et al., 2021).展开更多

This study investigated the impact of rehabilitation exercise on functional recovery and morphological changes following thoracic contusive spinal cord injury. After a 7-day recovery period after spinal cord injury, mice were assigned to either a trained group(10 weeks of voluntary running wheel or forced treadmill exercise) or an untrained group. Bi-weekly assessments revealed that the exercise-trained group, particularly the voluntary wheel exercise subgroup, displayed significantly improved locomotor recovery, more plasticity of dopaminergic and serotonin modulation compared with the untrained group. Additionally, exercise interventions led to gait pattern restoration and enhanced transcranial magnetic motor-evoked potentials. Despite consistent injury areas across groups, exercise training promoted terminal innervation of descending axons. In summary, voluntary wheel exercise shows promise for enhancing outcomes after thoracic contusive spinal cord injury, emphasizing the role of exercise modality in promoting recovery and morphological changes in spinal cord injuries. Our findings will influence future strategies for rehabilitation exercises, restoring functional movement after spinal cord injury.展开更多

Thirty-six aged male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups (n=12 each): sham-operation group (S group), global cerebral ischemia reperfusion group (I/R group) and LXA4-pretreatment group (L group). The rat model of global cerebral ischemia reperfusion was established by occlusion of the bilateral common carotid artery with hypotension. The cognitive function of rats was determined by a step-down type passive avoidance test and Morris Water Maze test on the third day after reperfusion. Rats were sacrificed after Water Maze test and the pathological changes ofhippocampal CA1 region were observed and the related inflammatory mediators were determined. As compared with S group, the escape latency in I/R group was prolonged from the first day to the fifth day, while that in L group was prolonged from the first day to the third day. The retention time in I/R group and L group in the first quadrant was shortened. The reaction time, frequency of reaction mistake and frequency of escape mistake in I/R group increased, and the latent period shortened. The frequency of escape mistake in L group increased, and the damage in the hippocampal CAI region of I/R group and L group was obvious. The levels of S-10013, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-10 and NF-κB in I/R group and L group increased. As compared with I/R group, the escape latency in L group was shortened from the first day to the fifth day, and the retention time in the first quadrant prolonged. The reaction time, frequency of reaction mistake and frequency of escape mistake in L group decreased, and the latent period prolonged. The damage in the hippocampal CA1 region of L group was alleviated as well. The levels of S-10013, TNF-α, IL-1β and NF-κB in L group decreased, and those of IL-10 increased. It can be concluded that LXA4 pretreatment can improve the cognitive function in aged rats after global cerebral ischemia reperfusion probably by inhibiting the inflammatory reaction.展开更多

Methane and cyclohexane were chosen as the model compounds. Density functional theory was employed, and many reaction pathways were involved. Calculations were carried out in Gaussian 09 at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of the theory. The results indicate that the main pyrolysis products of methane and cyclohexane in hydrogen plasma are both hydrogen and acetylene, and the participation of active hydrogen atoms makes dehydrogenation reactions more favorable. H2 mainly comes from dehydrogenation process, while many reaction pathways are responsible for acetylene formation. During coal pyrolysis in hydrogen plasma, three main components in volatiles like aliphatic hydrocarbons, cycloalkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons lead to the formation of hydrogen and acetylene, but their contributions to products distribution are different.展开更多

Spatial variation of ground motions in elastic media is analyzed by deterministic method in this paper. Taking elastic half-space model with dislocation source of fault, near-field ground motions are simulated. This model takes strike-slip fault and earth media into account. 文摘The M1/M2 phenotypic shift of microglia after spinal cord injury plays an important role in the regulation of neuroinflammation during the secondary injury phase of spinal cord injury.Regulation of shifting microglia polarization from M1(neurotoxic and proinflammatory type)to M2(neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory type)after spinal cord injury appears to be crucial.Tryptanthrin possesses an anti-inflammatory biological function. However, its roles and the underlying molecular mechanisms in spinal cord injury remain unknown. In this study,we found that tryptanthrin inhibited microglia-derived inflammation by promoting polarization to the M2 phenotype in vitro.Tryptanthrin promoted M2 polarization through inactivating the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway.Additionally,we found that targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway with tryptanthrin shifted microglia from the M1 to M2 phenotype after spinal cord injury, inhibited neuronal loss, and promoted tissue repair and functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord injury. Finally, using a conditional co-culture system,we found that microglia treated with tryptanthrin suppressed endoplasmic reticulum stress-related neuronal apoptosis.Taken together, these results suggest that by targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis, tryptanthrin attenuates microglia-derived neuroinflammation and promotes functional recovery after spinal cord injury through shifting microglia polarization to the M2 phenotype.

文摘The presence of endogenous neural stem/progenitor cells in the adult mammalian brain suggests that the central nervous system can be repaired and regenerated after injury. However, whether it is possible to stimulate neurogenesis and reconstruct cortical layers II to VI in non-neurogenic regions, such as the cortex, remains unknown. In this study,we implanted a hyaluronic acid collagen gel loaded with basic fibroblast growth factor into the motor cortex immediately following traumatic injury. Our findings reveal that this gel effectively stimulated the proliferation and migration of endogenous neural stem/progenitor cells,as well as their differentiation into mature and functionally integrated neurons.Importantly, these new neurons reconstructed the architecture of cortical layers II to VI,integrated into the existing neural circuitry, and ultimately led to improved brain function. These findings offer novel insight into potential clinical treatments for traumatic cerebral cortex injuries.

文摘The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of lipoxin A4 (LXA4) pretreatment on cognitive function of aged rats after global cerebral ischemia reperfusion, and to explore its possible mechanism. It can be concluded that LXA4 pretreatment can improve the cognitive function in aged rats after global cerebral ischemia reperfusion probably by inhibiting the inflammatory reaction.

文摘A generalization of the usual Green function to a kind of nonlinear elliptic equation of divergence form is discussed. The regularity and comparison principle of Green function in the sense of distribution are shown.
文摘Some doubly-periodic solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation are presented. Our approach is to introduce an auxiliary ordinary differential equation and use its Jacobi elliptic function solutions to construct doubly-periodic solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation, which has been derived by Gottwald as a two-dimensional model for nonlinear Rossby waves. When the modulus k →1, these solutions reduce to the solitary wave solutions of the equation.

文摘To get deep understanding of the reaction mechanism of coal pyrolysis in hydrogen plasma, the decomposition reaction pathways of aliphatic hydrocarbons and cycloalkanes, which are two main components in volatiles from coal, were investigated. During coal pyrolysis in hydrogen plasma, three main components in volatiles like aliphatic hydrocarbons, cycloalkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons lead to the formation of hydrogen and acetylene, but their contributions to products distribution are different.
文摘(2 + 1) dimensional Boussinesq and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are investigated by employing Jacobi elliptic function expansion method in this paper. As a result, some new forms traveling wave solutions of the equation are reported. Numerical simulation results are shown. These new solutions may be important for the explanation of some practical physical problems. The results of this paper show that Jacobi elliptic function method can be a useful tool in obtaining evolution solutions of nonlinear system.
文摘AIM:To investigate whether erosive esophagitis is correlated with metabolic syndrome and its components, abnormal liver function, and lipoprotein profiles.METHODS:We conducted a cross-sectional,case control study of subjects who underwent upper endoscopy during a health examination at the Health Management and Evaluation Center of a tertiary medical care facility located in Southern Taiwan.Metabolic syndrome components, body mass index(BMI),liver function, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular risk factors,as defined by the ratio of total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),and the ratio of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol to HDL-C were compared betweenindividuals with and without erosive esophagitis.Risk factors for erosive esophagitis were evaluated by multivariate logistic regression.RESULTS:Erosive esophagitis was diagnosed in 507of 5015 subjects who were individually age and sex matched to 507 esophagitis-free control subjects. In patients with erosive esophagitis,BMI,waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, triglyceride levels, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL-C,and the ratio of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol to HDL-C were significantly higher and HDL-C was significantly lower compared to patients without erosive esophagitis(all P<0.05).In a multivariate analysis, central obesity(OR=1.38;95%CI:1.0-1.86),hypertension(OR=1.35;95%CI:1.04-1.76),hypertriglyceridemia(OR=1.34;95%CI:1.02-1.76),cardiovascular risk factors as defined by a ratio of total cholesterol to HDL-C>5(OR=1.45;95%CI:1.06-1.97),and aspartate aminotransferase(OR=1.59;95%CI:1.08-2.34)were significantly associated with erosive esophagitis.CONCLUSION:Metabolic syndrome, impaired liver function, and a higher ratio of total cholesterol to HDL-C were associated with erosive esophagitis.

文摘At present, the method to study spatial variation of ground motions is statistic analysis based on dense array re-cords such as SMART-1 array, etc. For lacking of information of ground motions, there is no coherency function model of base rock and different style site. Spatial variation of ground motions in elastic media is analyzed by deterministic method in this paper. Taking elastic half-space model with dislocation source of fault, near-field ground motions are simulated. This model takes strike-slip fault and earth media into account. A coherency func-tion is proposed for base rock site.
