Due to the influence of traditional teaching concepts, teaching practice of English and American Literature, perfusion teaching model has been relatively common, students tend to become a vassal and object of teaching, criticism and independence have been suppressed. Constructivist teaching concept is raised by drawbacks of traditional teaching. Starting from the reflection of the traditional teaching of English and American literature, propose the external study to explore multiple perspectives and to define the center to teach learning-centered teaching concept, and thus analysis the reform method, direction and specific implementation methods of current English and American Literature teaching, hoping to affect the current British and American Literature Teaching reform. 展开更多

This thesis studies the concept and research background of filzziness and fuzzy theory, then committing further enumeration and analysis of the application of fuzzy theory in the fields of linguistics and literature. On this basis, the effectiveness and rationalization of the fuzzy theory's application in the English literature teaching were confirmed from many aspects. Among them, it is mainly investigated and analyzed from the objective factors and subjective factors. Subjective aspects mainly contain students' different cognitive ability, and the diversity existed in teachers' teaching and guiding methods. Objective aspects mainly include that the literature language and literature thoughts itself have the unique ambiguity. Finally, in summing up the investigation results the author put forward the essence of English literature teaching activity and put forward the methods to improve English literature teaching. 展开更多

Taking as its point of departure the problems which English-majored students face when confronted directly with the course in literature at university,this study was conducted mainly through an analysis of student-and-teacher responses to questionnaires together with document analysis and reviews on the author’s experience in teaching and managing literary courses at his university.The sample includes 10 teachers in charge of the courses and 150 students attending these courses from five universities.The findings indicate that the teaching and learning of literature in the English language curriculum at these universities is facing certain problems,among which are:limited experience of mother tongue literature;limited experience of literary language;limited experience of English or American literature;and limited experience or knowledge of the world,life,people.From the implications identified,the findings of this paper are believed to yield further insights into the improvement of literature teaching and learning at university in Vietnamese contexts. 展开更多

English literature is of great importance to the Chinese learners of English. This paper seeks to find some solution to the decline in the teaching of English literature in a Chinese context. Problems in a Chinese cla... English literature is of great importance to the Chinese learners of English. This paper seeks to find some solution to the decline in the teaching of English literature in a Chinese context. Problems in a Chinese class are first analyzed. And then from a constructivist perspective that knowledge can be best mastered when students find their personal involvement with what they are learning, a proposal is put forward that a critical attitude and response to the literary texts are important. To introduce critical activities into class, one has first to help students overcome their 'theory anxieties' brought forth by the advanced development of critical theories. Ecocriticism as an ethical critical approach to literature does not hold a big corpus of new and academic terms, and thus is a most desirable substitute, which also cares for the current issues of ecological calamities. Sample students' reactions to ecocriticism in a Chinese class are offered. 展开更多
