The distributions of the permissi...This paper presents an analytical solution for the thermoelastic stress in a typical in-plane's thin-film micro- thermoelectric cooling device under different operating con- ditions. The distributions of the permissible temperature fields in multilayered thin-films are analytically obtained, and the characteristics, including maximum temperature dif- ference and maximum refrigerating output of the thermo- electric device, are discussed for two operating conditions. Analytical expressions of the thermoelastic stresses in the layered thermoelectric thin-films induced by the tempera- ture difference are formulated based on the theory of mul- tilayer system. The results demonstrate that, the geometric dimension is a significant factor which remarkably affects the thermoelastic stresses. The stress distributions in layers of semiconductor thermoelements, insulating and support- ing membrane show distinctly different features. The present work may profitably guide the optimization design of high- efficiency micro-thermoelectric cooling devices.展开更多

Recently, spin-momentum-locked topological surface states(SSs) have attracted significant attention in spintronics.Owing to spin-momentum locking, the direction of the spin is locked at right angles with respect to ...Recently, spin-momentum-locked topological surface states(SSs) have attracted significant attention in spintronics.Owing to spin-momentum locking, the direction of the spin is locked at right angles with respect to the carrier momentum.In this paper, we briefly review the exotic transport properties induced by topological SSs in topological-insulator(TI)nanostructures, which have larger surface-to-volume ratios than those of bulk TI materials. We discuss the electrical spin generation in TIs and its effect on the transport properties. A current flow can generate a pure in-plane spin polarization on the surface, leading to a current-direction-dependent magnetoresistance in spin valve devices based on TI nanostructures.A relative momentum shift of two coupled topological SSs also generates net spin polarization and induces an in-plane anisotropic negative magnetoresistance. Therefore, the spin-momentum locking can enable the broad tuning of the spin transport properties of topological devices for spintronic applications.展开更多

With the development of MEMS devices for satellite, it is possible to establish much lighter and smal...micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) device has the advantages of both electronic system and mechanical system. With the development of MEMS devices for satellite, it is possible to establish much lighter and smaller nanosatellites with higher performance and longer lifecyele. The power consumption of MEMS devices is usually much lower than that of traditional devices, which will greatly reduce the consumption of power. For its small size and simple architecture, MEMS devices can be easily integrated together and achieve redundancy. Launched on April 18, 2004, NS - 1 is a nanosatellite for science exploration and MEMS devices test. A mass of science data and images were acquired during its running. NS - 1 weights less than 25 kg. It consists of several MEMS devices, including one miniature inertial measurement unit(MIMU) , three micro complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS)cameras, one sun sensor, three momentum wheels, and one micro magnetic sensor. By applying micro components based on MEMS technology, NS - 1 has made success in the experiments of integrative design, manufacture, and MEMS devices integration. In this paper, some MEMS devices for nanosatellite and picosatellite are introduced, which have been tested on NS -1 nanosatellite or on the ground.展开更多
This paper proposes a novel clamping device for leveling equipment mounted on offshore oil platform jacket,which solves the problem of leveling equipment clamping lifting force of more than 2000 tons.The main features...This paper proposes a novel clamping device for leveling equipment mounted on offshore oil platform jacket,which solves the problem of leveling equipment clamping lifting force of more than 2000 tons.The main features are that lifting force transmits to clamp claw through wedge force amplifier,embed the teeth of claw into the pile,and the embedded depth increases with the lifting force,resulting in a gravitational self-locking function.This theoretical model of clamping device was established,and the force and material characteristic were analyzed,and the feasibility of the theoretical model was verified by thin shell elastic-plastic stability theory and thin-walled structures theory.An experimental prototype of clamping device was produced to test gravity self-locking function and bearable leveling force.Compared with the theoretical model and the experimental results,it proved that the embedded clamping devices have gravitational self-locking function and can meet the need of actual leveling equipment.展开更多

A wide-band VCO and an AFC are used to cover the desired bands. A 3bit third order sigma-delta modulator is adopted to reduce the out-band phase noise. The measurements show a VCO tuning range from 1.31 to 1.88GHz with AFC working correctly,an out-band phase noise of -139dBc/Hz at 3MHz offset frequency, and a fractional spur of less than - 60dBc. The chip area is 1.5mm × 1.2mm and the total current dissipation including LO buffers is 19mA from a single 3.0V supply voltage.展开更多

For deepwater exploitation, the ri...Along with the consumption increase of the petroleum products, more countries have transferred their attentions to the offshore fields, especially the deepwater oil and gas reserves. For deepwater exploitation, the risers must be installed to act as the conduits connecting surface platforms to subsea facilities. In this paper, the typical risers sorted by different classes are introduced, and the correspondent installation methods are presented. By investigating the recent projects performed in the deepwater hot spots, and combining the challenges of HYSY20 l for riser installation, a lifting device developed for assisting riser installation is proposed and detailed to satisfy the installation of deepwater risers in the LW3-1 Gas Field of 1500 m in the South China Sea. Tests on both the functions and performances of such a new system exhibit the satisfaction of meeting all challenging requirements of HYSY201 for application to riser installation in waters up to a depth of 3000 m in the South China Sea.展开更多
