Can increased economic complexity and reduced carbon emissions of the logistics industry go hand in hand?Evidence from countries along the Belt and Road

At present,the main focus of research lies in examining the connection between economic complexity and carbon emissions as a whole,but there is a scarcity of quantitative investigations on the link between the above variables within specific industries.Therefore,this study introduces economic complexity as a new variable to build a panel model within the traditional Environmental Kuznets Curve framework.Based on the data of the countries along the Belt and Road from 1998 to 2018,we used the Granger causality test to examine the causal relationship between variables,and use the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square and Dynamic Ordinary Least Square methods to estimate the coefficients of variables.The key factor linking economic complexity and carbon emissions in the logistics industry is technology innovation Economic complexity can explain and predict the changes in carbon emissions of logistics industry more reasonably,and the relationship between them in line with the environmental kuznets curve hypothesis.Only high-income countries can increase economic complexity while reducing carbon emissions of logistics industry.Based on the empirical analysis,it is suggested that upper-middle income and lower middle-income countries can formulate relevant policies and regulations,and high-income countries can improve the relevant policies and regulations to promote the reduction of carbon emissions of the logistics industry.Studying the impact of economic complexity on carbon emissions in the logistics industry can help better predict and respond to the impact of climate change on the logistics industry. 展开更多

Based on the connotation of marine fisheries logistics,the thesis gives a brief account of its features:firstly,it is more susceptible to natural conditions;secondly,the aquatic logistics is with strong specialized assets;thirdly,the aquatic products market has relative greater uncertainties;fourthly,it calls for higher logistics technology;fifthly,it is difficult to conduct supply chain management.Then the thesis analyzes the problems in the marine fisheries industry:the first problem is the imperfect standardization system of the aquatic logistics;the second is the backward development in the cold storage of the marine fisheries;the third is low information-based degree of marine fisheries logistics system;the fourth one is the low level of the value-added services;the fifth problem is the immature participants in logistics.In order to solve these problems,this thesis further proposes some countermeasure to develop the logistics in the marine fisheries industry:at first,to build various forms of logistics organization entities;secondly,to gradually realize the integration of logistics functions and performance;thirdly,to strengthen the information construction of marine fisheries logistics;at last,to reinforce the government roles in developing the logistics industry of aquatic products. 展开更多

As a basic and strategic industry,the logistics industry is closely linked with and influenced by other industries while influencing them.It plays an irreplaceable role in ensuring smooth operation of the national economy and satisfying the demand of consumers.Its development level directly affects that of the national economy.Based on the analysis into input-output tables from 1997 to 2010,the association effect between the logistics industry and its related industries is measured and the dynamic degree of influence logistics industry exerts on relevant industries at the different periods is observed,both of which enable an objective judgement to be gained in identifying the status of logistics industry in the national economy.The main conclusions are as follows.(1)The status of logistics industry remains to be further promoted.(2)The logistics industry turns into one with“low added value and strong leading force”.(3)Industrial logistics is the main trend while logistics of service industry change.(4)The logistics industry is closely linked with the second industry.The author then puts forward countermeasures and suggestions:(1)Develop Third-Part Logistic in order to promote the socialisation and specialisation level of logistics distribution;(2)Speed up the development of electronic business logistics,set up reasonable layout of transportation infrastructure and build entitative logistics network;(3)Accelerate the logistics informationization and standardization and improve management and service levels of logistics enterprises. 展开更多

Modeling influencing factors of battle damage is one of essential works in implementing military industrial logistics simulation to explore battle damage laws knowledge.However,one of key challenges in designing the simulation system could be how to reasonably determine simulation model input and build a bridge to link battle damage model and battle damage laws knowledge.In this paper,we propose a novel knowledge-oriented modeling method for influencing factors of battle damage in military industrial logistics,integrating conceptual analysis,conceptual modeling,quantitative modeling and simulation implementation.We conceptualize influencing factors of battle damage by using the principle of hierarchical decomposition,thus classifying the related battle damage knowledge logically.Then,we construct the conceptual model of influencing factors of battle damage by using Entity-Relations hip approach,thus describing their interactions reasonably.Subsequently,we extract the important influencing factors by using social network analysis,thus evaluating their importance quantitatively and further clarifying the elements of simulation.Finally,we develop an agent-based military industry logistics simulation system by taking the modeling results on influencing factors of battle damage as simulation model input,and obtain simulation model output,i.e.,new battle damage laws knowledge,thus verifying feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.The results show that this method can be used to support human decision-making and action. 展开更多

An urban underground logistics system(ULS)is one important means of solving urban traffic problems that has unique advantages.Freight transportation in China requires a new transportation mode.Therefore,ULS has garnered increasing attention.However,to date,few scholars and practitioners have investigated ULS in China.Although ULS shows good development opportunities,it also faces great challenges.Based on the Macro-environment and situation analysis(PEST-SWOT)model,which is a strategic analysis method that combines both SWOT and PEST to effectively identify advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and threats,this paper first uses PEST to analyze the macro-environment of ULS in China and identify its internal factors(i.e.,advantages and disadvantages)and external factors(i.e.,opportunities and threats).Next,based on the SWOT framework,this paper proposes several development strategies and recommendations that provide a comprehensive and novel perspective to the study of ULS in China. 展开更多
