This controller uses the state space equations t...This paper presents a new Long-range generalized predictive controller in the synchronous reference frame for a wind energy system doubly-fed induction generator based. This controller uses the state space equations that consider the rotor current and voltage as state and control variables, to execute the predictive control action. Therefore, the model of the plant must be transformed into two discrete transference functions, by means of an auto-regressive moving average model, in order to attain a discrete and decoupled controller, which makes it possible to treat it as two independent single-input single-output systems instead of a magnetic coupled multiple-input multiple-output system. For achieving that, a direct power control strategy is used, based on the past and future rotor currents and voltages estimation. The algorithm evaluates the rotor current predictors for a defined prediction horizon and computes the new rotor voltages that must be injected to controlling the stator active and reactive powers. To evaluate the controller performance, some simulations were made using Matlab/Simulink. Experimental tests were carried out with a small-scale prototype assuming normal operating conditions with constant and variable wind speed profiles. Finally, some conclusions respect to the dynamic performance of this new controller are summarized.展开更多

Spiral waves with few perturbations, broken spiral waves, pseudo spiral turbulence, synchronous oscillations, and homogeneous rest state are discovered under different network structures. Tip number is selected to detect non-equilibrium phase transition between different spatiotemporal patterns. The Kuramoto order parameter is used to identify these patterns and explain the emergence of the rest state. The different methods for definition of space, object coordinate system are...The purpose, classification, required accuracy and surveying methods of control work for close range photogrammetry have been briefly stated. The different methods for definition of space, object coordinate system are also reviewed. It is suggested that the habitu-ally-practised rotation angle system for aerophotogrammetry in China should be used for the future teaching and resaarching work in the close range photogrammetry, and that the rotation angle system for terrestrial deformation photogrammetry should be left out in order to avoid the confuse and reduce the amount of expanse for making softwares. It has been emphasized that there are three improtant aspects in the close range control work with high accurary using the conventional method of engineering surveying: the use of standard scale for measurement of distance between two general stations, the accurate determination of start direction line between two general stations and the handling method of influence of 2C change. A method for setting up industrial surveying control net with extra-high accuracy ±(0.05–0.20) mm is presented by the author. This kind of industrial control net is necessary for batch process of large industrial components with purposes of measurement, inspect and lofting. There are some special methods of control work in the close range photogrammetry, including two methods presented by the author.展开更多

Gradient...A vehicle stopping method using an electric brake until a traction motor is stopped is studied. At the moment of vehicle stop, electric brake is changed to control mode where torque is reduced at a low speed. Gradient is controlled by estimating the load torque of motor, thereby traction motor is not rotated after stop. In addition, coasting operation and brake test are performed from normal-opposite operation and start using a small-scale model comprising the inertial load equipment and the power converter. Further, traction motor is made to be equipped with a suspension torque. Pure electric braking that makes traction motor stop by an air brake at the time of stop is also implemented. Constant torque range and constant power range are expanded during braking so that braking force is secured with the electric brakes even in high speed region. Therefore, vehicle reduction effect can be expected by reducing parts related with an air brake which is not used frequently by using a pure electric brake in the M car in wide speed region. Further, maintenance of brake system can be reduced. Besides, ride comfort of passenger in the electric rail car, energy efficiency improvement, and noise reduction effect can be additionally expected. Further, an improved brake method that uses only an electric brake till motor stop is proposed by comparing those in the blending brake that uses an air brake while reducing brake torque at vehicle stop.展开更多
Human development is inherently connected with availability of water and energy.Energy production requires water,whereas water treatment needs energy.On the other hand,microbial fuel cell has capability to produce ene...Human development is inherently connected with availability of water and energy.Energy production requires water,whereas water treatment needs energy.On the other hand,microbial fuel cell has capability to produce energy and water simultaneously from waste water or organic matter.In this paper,first principle-based model of variable volume microbial fuel cell is simulated.Hydraulic retention time is selected as the manipulated variable using the study of steady state and dynamic responses.Classical PI and model predictive control strategies are developed for controlling the produced power from the cell,and its performance is tested for servo problem.Settling time for positive and negative set points is found to be 126 and 889 h in case of classical PI and 120 and 750 h in case of linear MPC,respectively along with large increase(three times order of magnitude)in working volume for negative set point.These control challenges are overcome by using split range controller with variable and constant volume microbial fuel cells.The settling time for negative set point is found to be 49 and 21 h for classical PI and linear MPC schemes,respectively,which is significantly lower than using only variable volume microbial fuel cell.Also,there is no increase in the working volume of the constant volume microbial fuel cell.Hence,operating range of the microbial fuel cell is enhanced using split range controller.展开更多
To realize effective utilization of renewable energy sources,a novel polymorphic topology with hybrid control strategy based LLC resonant converter was analyzed and designed in this paper.By combining the merits of a ...To realize effective utilization of renewable energy sources,a novel polymorphic topology with hybrid control strategy based LLC resonant converter was analyzed and designed in this paper.By combining the merits of a full bridge LLC resonant converter,three-level half bridge LLC resonant converter,and variable frequency control mode,the converter realizes an intelligent estimation of input voltage by automatically changing its internal cir-cuit topology.Under this control strategy,different input voltages determine different operation modes.This is achieved in full bridge LLC mode when the input voltage is low.If the input voltage rises to a certain level,it operates in three-level half bridge LLC mode.These switches are digital and entirely carried out by the DSP(Digi-tal Signal Processor),which means that an auxiliary circuit is unnecessary,where a simple strategy of software modification can be utilized.Experimental results of a 500W prototype with 100V~600V input voltage and full load efficiency of up to 92%are developed to verify feasibility and practicability.This type of converter is suitable for applications with an ultra-wide input voltage range,such as wind turbines,photovoltaic generators,bioenergy,and other renewable energy sources.展开更多

This can cause significant financial l...In the manufacturing processes of high value-added products in the pharmaceutical, fine chemical polymer and food industry, insufficient control might produce off-grade products. This can cause significant financial losses, or in the pharmaceutical industry, it can result in an unusable batch. In these industries, batch reactors are commonly used, the control of which is essentially a problem of temperature control. In the industry, an increasing number of heating-cooling systems utilising three different temperature levels can be found, which are advantageous from an economic point of view. However, it makes the control more complicated. This paper presents a split-range designing technique using the model of the controlled system with the aim to design a split-range algorithm more specific to the actual sys- tem. The algorithm described provides high control performance when using it with classical PID-based cascade temperature control of jacketed batch reactors;however, it can be used with or as part of other types of controllers, for ex- ample, model-based temperature controllers. The algorithm can be used in the case of systems where only two as well as where three temperature levels are used for temperature control. Besides the switching between the modes of opera- tion and calculating the value of the manipulated variable, one of the most important functions of the split-range algo- rithm is to keep the sign of the gain of the controlled system unchanged. However, with a more system-specific split-range solution, not only can the sign of the gain be kept unchanged, but the gain can also be constant or less de- pendent on the state of the system. Using this solution, the design of the PID controller becomes simpler and can be implemented in existing systems without serious changes.展开更多
This paper addresses the problem of coordinating multiple mobile robots in searching for and capturing a mobile target,with the aim of reducing the capture time.Compared with the previous algorithms,we assume that the...This paper addresses the problem of coordinating multiple mobile robots in searching for and capturing a mobile target,with the aim of reducing the capture time.Compared with the previous algorithms,we assume that the target can be detected by any robot and captured successfully by two or more robots.In this paper,we assume that each robot has a limited communication range.We maintain the robots within a mobile network to guarantee the successful capture.In addition,the motion of the target is modeled and incorporated into directing the motion of the robots to reduce the capture time.A coordination algorithm considering both aspects is proposed.This algorithm can greatly reduce the expected time of capturing the mobile target.Finally,we validate the algorithm by the simulations and experiments.展开更多
<strong>Introduction:</strong> The exhaustion of healthcare resources due to the rising prevalence in Saudi Arabia mandates the search for each method that can help in better control of diabetes. <stron...<strong>Introduction:</strong> The exhaustion of healthcare resources due to the rising prevalence in Saudi Arabia mandates the search for each method that can help in better control of diabetes. <strong>Methods:</strong> The gathered task force gath-ered to develop an explicit, evidence-based consensus for the use of time-in-range targets as guidance for better glycemic control while using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). This article has the recommenda-tions of this expert panel.<strong> Results: </strong>HbA1c and self-monitoring blood glu-cose (SMBG) are not enough to detect blood glucose (BG) fluctuations on a daily basis. The incorporation of technology like FreeStyle Libre with its applications like Libre View is now used in many institutes in Saudi Ara-bia. This system is comprehensive and has all the standardized metrics needed. However, training and support are always needed. Barriers and challenges include the awareness & experience of the technology, the time barrier, the patients’ barriers, the technical barriers, and of course, the availability barrier. All the barriers and challenges should be dealt with by designing new training programs.<strong> Conclusion:</strong> The expert panel recom-mended using CGMs technology in people with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) children and adults, type 2 diabetes (T2DM) on multiple insulin injections, gestational diabetes (GDM) who need further glycemic control, and those at high risk for hypoglycemia. In addition, we recommend using them for a short period for those who require intensive BG control or during acute illness or stress. In addition, Ambulatory Glucose Profile (AGP) could be used as an educational tool for any individuals with DM to study the im-pact of certain elements of lifestyle modifications on their immediate BG level.展开更多
For determining the accuracy of a calorimeter over the instrument’s entire measuring range,a novel method has been established.For this new approach,(a)benzoic acid(C_(6)H_(5)CO_(2)H) as a certified reference materia...For determining the accuracy of a calorimeter over the instrument’s entire measuring range,a novel method has been established.For this new approach,(a)benzoic acid(C_(6)H_(5)CO_(2)H) as a certified reference material(CRM),(b)SiO_(2) and(c)a mixture of CRM benzoic acid and SiO_(2) have been used.To illustrate the essential difference between 1)the novel analytical method for control of the entire measurement range and 2)the calorimeter calibration,both applications of benzoic acid(BA)have been demonstrated.An experimental result showed that BA was successfully used to check the whole calorimeter measurement range.The results also showed that the same new method was successfully applied to determine the limit of detection and quantification.A new instrument testing process and a new measurement technique have thus been established.In this way,the cost of using CRM to control the accuracy of measuring the entire measuring range of the calorimeter,as shown in this paper,is minimized.The requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard are satisfied.ISO/IEC 17025:2017,together with ISO 9001:2015(quality management systems),ISO 14001:2015(relate to environmental protection)and ISO45001:2018(occupational safety),constitute an integrated quality system by which a testing laboratory may also accredit.展开更多

The interquartile range (IQR) is one of the dispersion measures based on lower and upper quartiles. For efficient monitoring of process dispersion, we have proposed auxiliary information based Shewhart-type IQR control charts (namely IQRr and IQRp charts) based on ratio and product estimators of lower and upper quartiles under bivariate normally distributed process. We have developed the control structures of proposed charts and compared their performances with the usual IQR chart in terms of detection ability of shift in process dispersion. For the said purpose power curves are constructed to demonstrate the performance of the three IQR charts under discussion in this article. We have also provided an illustrative example to justify theory and finally closed with concluding remarks.展开更多

This VCO achieves low phas...We demonstrate the design of a novel voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), which is based on a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOS) differential amplifier with active load. This VCO achieves low phase noise and wide tuning range. The phase noise is –120 dBc/Hz at 600 KHz offset from a 1.216 GHz carrier frequency. This value is comparable to that of a LC-based integrated oscillator. The operating frequency can be tuned from 117 MHz to 1.216 GHz with the supply voltage varying from 1.3 V to 3.3 V. Therefore, the tuning range is about 90.38% which is larger than most of the LC and ring oscillator. The VCO circuit, which is constructed using a standard 0.35 μm CMOS technology, occupies only 26.25 × 7.52 μm2 die area and dissipated 10.56 mW under a 3.3 V supply voltage.展开更多

For improving the phase noise, filtering technique is used and VCO is designed with TSMC CMOS 0.18 μm technology and the power supply is 1.5 V. The simulation results with advanced design system (ADS) shows that phase noise in 1 MHz offset frequency from the carrier is -122 dBc/Hz and tuning range is 2 to 2.8 GHz. 文摘To realize effective utilization of renewable energy sources,a novel polymorphic topology with hybrid control strategy based LLC resonant converter was analyzed and designed in this paper.By combining the merits of a full bridge LLC resonant converter,three-level half bridge LLC resonant converter,and variable frequency control mode,the converter realizes an intelligent estimation of input voltage by automatically changing its internal cir-cuit topology.Under this control strategy,different input voltages determine different operation modes.This is achieved in full bridge LLC mode when the input voltage is low.If the input voltage rises to a certain level,it operates in three-level half bridge LLC mode.These switches are digital and entirely carried out by the DSP(Digi-tal Signal Processor),which means that an auxiliary circuit is unnecessary,where a simple strategy of software modification can be utilized.Experimental results of a 500W prototype with 100V~600V input voltage and full load efficiency of up to 92%are developed to verify feasibility and practicability.This type of converter is suitable for applications with an ultra-wide input voltage range,such as wind turbines,photovoltaic generators,bioenergy,and other renewable energy sources.
文摘In the manufacturing processes of high value-added products in the pharmaceutical, fine chemical polymer and food industry, insufficient control might produce off-grade products. This can cause significant financial losses, or in the pharmaceutical industry, it can result in an unusable batch. In these industries, batch reactors are commonly used, the control of which is essentially a problem of temperature control. In the industry, an increasing number of heating-cooling systems utilising three different temperature levels can be found, which are advantageous from an economic point of view. However, it makes the control more complicated. This paper presents a split-range designing technique using the model of the controlled system with the aim to design a split-range algorithm more specific to the actual sys- tem. The algorithm described provides high control performance when using it with classical PID-based cascade temperature control of jacketed batch reactors;however, it can be used with or as part of other types of controllers, for ex- ample, model-based temperature controllers. The algorithm can be used in the case of systems where only two as well as where three temperature levels are used for temperature control. Besides the switching between the modes of opera- tion and calculating the value of the manipulated variable, one of the most important functions of the split-range algo- rithm is to keep the sign of the gain of the controlled system unchanged. However, with a more system-specific split-range solution, not only can the sign of the gain be kept unchanged, but the gain can also be constant or less de- pendent on the state of the system. Using this solution, the design of the PID controller becomes simpler and can be implemented in existing systems without serious changes.

文摘This paper addresses the problem of coordinating multiple mobile robots in searching for and capturing a mobile target,with the aim of reducing the capture time.Compared with the previous algorithms,we assume that the target can be detected by any robot and captured successfully by two or more robots.In this paper,we assume that each robot has a limited communication range.We maintain the robots within a mobile network to guarantee the successful capture.In addition,the motion of the target is modeled and incorporated into directing the motion of the robots to reduce the capture time.A coordination algorithm considering both aspects is proposed.This algorithm can greatly reduce the expected time of capturing the mobile target.Finally,we validate the algorithm by the simulations and experiments.
文摘<strong>Introduction:</strong> The exhaustion of healthcare resources due to the rising prevalence in Saudi Arabia mandates the search for each method that can help in better control of diabetes. <strong>Methods:</strong> The gathered task force gath-ered to develop an explicit, evidence-based consensus for the use of time-in-range targets as guidance for better glycemic control while using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). This article has the recommenda-tions of this expert panel.<strong> Results: </strong>HbA1c and self-monitoring blood glu-cose (SMBG) are not enough to detect blood glucose (BG) fluctuations on a daily basis. The incorporation of technology like FreeStyle Libre with its applications like Libre View is now used in many institutes in Saudi Ara-bia. This system is comprehensive and has all the standardized metrics needed. However, training and support are always needed. Barriers and challenges include the awareness & experience of the technology, the time barrier, the patients’ barriers, the technical barriers, and of course, the availability barrier. All the barriers and challenges should be dealt with by designing new training programs.<strong> Conclusion:</strong> The expert panel recom-mended using CGMs technology in people with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) children and adults, type 2 diabetes (T2DM) on multiple insulin injections, gestational diabetes (GDM) who need further glycemic control, and those at high risk for hypoglycemia. In addition, we recommend using them for a short period for those who require intensive BG control or during acute illness or stress. In addition, Ambulatory Glucose Profile (AGP) could be used as an educational tool for any individuals with DM to study the im-pact of certain elements of lifestyle modifications on their immediate BG level.

文摘For determining the accuracy of a calorimeter over the instrument’s entire measuring range,a novel method has been established.For this new approach,(a)benzoic acid(C_(6)H_(5)CO_(2)H) as a certified reference material(CRM),(b)SiO_(2) and(c)a mixture of CRM benzoic acid and SiO_(2) have been used.To illustrate the essential difference between 1)the novel analytical method for control of the entire measurement range and 2)the calorimeter calibration,both applications of benzoic acid(BA)have been demonstrated.An experimental result showed that BA was successfully used to check the whole calorimeter measurement range.The results also showed that the same new method was successfully applied to determine the limit of detection and quantification.A new instrument testing process and a new measurement technique have thus been established.In this way,the cost of using CRM to control the accuracy of measuring the entire measuring range of the calorimeter,as shown in this paper,is minimized.The requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard are satisfied.ISO/IEC 17025:2017,together with ISO 9001:2015(quality management systems),ISO 14001:2015(relate to environmental protection)and ISO45001:2018(occupational safety),constitute an integrated quality system by which a testing laboratory may also accredit.
文摘The presence of dispersion/variability in any process is understood and its careful monitoring may furnish the performance of any process. The interquartile range (IQR) is one of the dispersion measures based on lower and upper quartiles. For efficient monitoring of process dispersion, we have proposed auxiliary information based Shewhart-type IQR control charts (namely IQRr and IQRp charts) based on ratio and product estimators of lower and upper quartiles under bivariate normally distributed process. We have developed the control structures of proposed charts and compared their performances with the usual IQR chart in terms of detection ability of shift in process dispersion. For the said purpose power curves are constructed to demonstrate the performance of the three IQR charts under discussion in this article. We have also provided an illustrative example to justify theory and finally closed with concluding remarks.
文摘We demonstrate the design of a novel voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), which is based on a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOS) differential amplifier with active load. This VCO achieves low phase noise and wide tuning range. The phase noise is –120 dBc/Hz at 600 KHz offset from a 1.216 GHz carrier frequency. This value is comparable to that of a LC-based integrated oscillator. The operating frequency can be tuned from 117 MHz to 1.216 GHz with the supply voltage varying from 1.3 V to 3.3 V. Therefore, the tuning range is about 90.38% which is larger than most of the LC and ring oscillator. The VCO circuit, which is constructed using a standard 0.35 μm CMOS technology, occupies only 26.25 × 7.52 μm2 die area and dissipated 10.56 mW under a 3.3 V supply voltage.
文摘In this paper, a novel voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with low phase noise, low power consumption and wide tuning range in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band is proposed for communication systems applications. For improving the phase noise, filtering technique is used and VCO is designed with TSMC CMOS 0.18 μm technology and the power supply is 1.5 V. The simulation results with advanced design system (ADS) shows that phase noise in 1 MHz offset frequency from the carrier is -122 dBc/Hz and tuning range is 2 to 2.8 GHz. The power consumption of the core is 2.49 mW.
