Effects of traditional Chinese medicine on symptoms of patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-related tinnitus

BACKGROUND Tinnitus affects 10%-30%of the population.Recent evidence suggests that tinnitus is associated with spleen deficiency.However,compared with kidney deficiency-related tinnitus,less research has been conducted on the impact of spleen defi-ciency-related tinnitus.AIM To investigate the clinical efficacy of using Guipi Wan and dietary and lifestyle modification based on traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-related tinnitus.METHODS We enrolled 110 patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-related tinnitus who were distributed into treatment(58 cases)and control(52 cases)groups.Tinnitus severity,sleep quality and emotional state were assessed by questionnaires[Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire(TEQ);Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI);Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale-21(DASS-21)]that were used for analysis in the two groups during the initial and intervention and after.In the treatment group,patients were treated with oral administration of Guipi Wan and consulted for healthy dietary and lifestyle modification.In the control group,patients were only assessed and not treated.RESULTS At the end of the 6-months,TEQ scores decreased significantly in the treatment group(P=0.021)but not in the Control group.Significant effects in the treatment group were noted for PSQI total score(P=0.043)and several PSQI component scores in the treatment group(P<0.05).After treatment,the DASS-21 scores were significantly reduced in the treatment group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Guipi Wan combined with dietary and lifestyle modification based on regulating the spleen and stomach can be considered core to the treatment of tinnitus related to spleen and stomach deficiency.

Recent Situation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in the Treatment of Stomach Pain with Deficiency and Cold of Spleen and Stomach

Stomachache is one of the most common diseases of digestive system, among which stomach pain of deficiency cold of spleen and stomach is the most common. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy as an external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine for relieving stomach pain due to deficiency of spleen and stomach, has the advantages of convenient operation, small adverse reactions and remarkable curative effect, which is easy for patients to accept. In this paper, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy such as moxibustion and warm acupuncture therapy for stomach pain of spleen and stomach deficiency cold type is summarized to provide evidence-based basis for clinical treatment of stomach pain of spleen and stomach deficiency cold type.

Clinical Effect of Modified Shengyang Yiwei Decoction in the Treatment of Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome due to Spleen and Stomach Weakness

Objective:To explore the therapeutic effect of Shengyang Yiwei Decoction in patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)due to spleen and stomach weakness.Methods:40 patients with diarrhea-predominant IBS who were treated from April 2018 to April 2020 were taken as samples.TCM(traditional Chinese medicine)syndrome differentiation found that they were all due to spleen and stomach weakness.They were randomly divided into two groups.Group A was treated with modified prescriptions of Shengyang Yiwei Decoction,while Group B was treated with Western medicine.The therapeutic effects in the two groups were compared.Results:The treatment efficacy in Group A was higher than that in Group B(P<0.05);the symptom scores of Group A such as loose stools,chills,physical weakness,poor appetite,and abdominal distension after meals were all lower than those in Group B(P<0.05);the SF-36(36-Item Short Form Health Survey)scores of patients with diarrhea-predominant IBS in Group A were higher than those in Group B(P<0.05);the treatment satisfaction of Group A was higher than that of Group B(P<0.05).Conclusion:Treatment of diarrhea-predominant IBS patients with spleen and stomach weakness by Shengyang Yiwei Decoction can promote the disappearance of gastrointestinal discomfort symptoms,improve the quality of life,and enhance treatment efficacy.Hence,it is an efficient and feasible treatment for diarrhea-predominant IBS due to spleen and stomach weakness.

Clinical effects of a traditional Chinese medicine nursing programme to intervene in gastric pain of the spleen and stomach with Qi deficiency

BACKGROUND Gastroparesis is a common digestive disorder characterized by delayed gastric emptying,which can lead to symptoms such as nausea,vomiting,abdominal pain,and poor appetite.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has been used for centuries to treat gastrointestinal disorders,including gastroparesis.TCM theory suggests that spleen and stomach qi deficiency syndrome is one of the main pathogenic factors in gastroparesis.Nursing care plays an important role in the treatment of gastroparesis,and TCM nursing interventions have shown promising results in improving patient outcomes.However,there is limited research on the clinical effectiveness of TCM nursing interventions for gastroparesis with spleen stomach deficiency syndrome.This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effect of TCM nursing intervention in the treatment of gastroparesis with spleen stomach deficiency syndrome and to compare it with routine nursing interventions.AIM To analyze the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention in the treatment of gastric paraplegia with spleen stomach deficiency syndrome.METHODS From January 2020 to July 2021,80 patients with gastroparesis of spleen stomach qi deficiency type diagnosed in our hospital were selected for the study.The 80 patients were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group,with 40 cases in each group.During the treatment period,the control group received routine nursing interventions,while the experimental group received traditional Chinese medicine nursing procedures.Compare the nursing effects of the two groups and observe the changes in traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,pain levels,and sleep quality before and after treatment.RESULTS After treatment,comparing the treatment effects of the two groups,the total effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the TCM symptom score,visual analogue scale(VAS)score,and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).However,after treatment,the TCM syndrome scores,VAS scores,and PSQI scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).CONCLUSION In the clinical nursing intervention of patients with mild gastroparesis due to spleen and stomach qi deficiency,the traditional Chinese medicine nursing plan has good clinical application value and nursing effect,and has a good effect on improving patients’pain and sleep quality.

STERIGMATOCYSTIN INDUCED ADENOCARCINOMA OF THE LUNG AND ATYPICAL HYPERPLASIA OF GLANDULAR STOMACH IN MICE

Aspergillus versicolor was isolated from the gastric juice of patients with chronic stomach diseases in high-risk area of gastric cancer. Mice fed with Aspergillus-inoculated corn flour developed adenocarcinoma of the lung in 15 of 35 mice (42.9%) and atypical hyperplasia of the glandular stomach in 13 of 35 mice (37.4%). Sterigmatocystin was identified by high performance liquid chromato-graphy (HPLC) and fluorescence spectrophotometry in the extract of Aspergillus-inoculated corn flour. The results suggest that the mycotoxin Sterigmatocystin may play a potential role in carcinogenesis in human.

Clinical experience of Professor Xie Jingri in the deficiency-cold of spleen and stomach type of complex peptic ulcer

Objective:To summarize Professor Xie's clinical experience in treating the deficiency cold of spleen and stomach type of complex peptic ulcer.Methods:through the observation of the curative effect of the patients with the deficiency cold of spleen and stomach type of complex peptic ulcer in the outpatient department of liver,spleen and stomach department of our hospital,the dialectical application and clinical experience of Professor Xie Jingri's self-made prescription in clinical practice were summarized.Results:Professor Xie Jingri's self-made prescription can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of patients with the deficiency cold of spleen and stomach type of complex peptic ulcer,and through individual syndrome differentiation and treatment,make the self-made prescription vary from person to person,clinical addition and subtraction,so as to further improve the clinical efficacy of patients.Conclusion:Professor Xie Jingri's self-made prescription is effective in treating complex peptic ulcer of spleen stomach deficiency cold type,which is worthy of further clinical application and promotion.

Clinical Observation of the Therapeutic Effects of Wenzhong Hewei Formula in Treating Spleen and Stomach Qi Deficiency Syndrome in Internal Medicine Diseases

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Wenzhong Hewei Formula in treating spleen and stomach qi deficiency syndrome in internal medicine diseases.Methods:Sixty patients with spleen and stomach qi deficiency syndrome admitted to the hospital from April 2022 to June 2023 were randomly divided into observation and control groups,with 30 patients in each group.The control group received conventional internal medicine treatment,while the observation group was additionally treated with Wenzhong Hewei Formula on the basis of conventional treatment.Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores of both groups were significantly lower than before treatment,with the observation group showing a more pronounced reduction(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Wenzhong Hewei Formula can effectively improve clinical symptoms in patients with spleen and stomach qi deficiency syndrome,enhance clinical efficacy,and have a high level of safety,making it worthy of clinical promotion.

Summary of professor GAO Yu-chun's experience of “harmonizing the spleen and stomach”acupuncture technique

The spleen and stomach are the foundation of acquired constitution, and the source of qi and blood production. Therefore, harmonizing the spleen and stomach is of great importance in treatment of diseases. In this paper, based on GAO＇s academic ideas of acupuncture and moxibustion, the different rules of harmonizing the spleen and stomach for internal miscellaneous diseases and carefully supplementing spleen and stomach for externally-contracted diseases were elaborated by starting with the acupoint selection prescriptions and harmonizing the spleen and stomach. In addition, time acupuncture and pattern differentiation moxibustion application and other treatment characteristics were put forward. The experience of professor GAO Yu-chun in acupuncture manipulation of ＂harmonizing the spleen and stomach＂ was summarized in detail from five aspects for learning and reference.

Efficacy of Gastrosis No.1 Compound on Functional Dyspepsia of Spleen and Stomach Deficiency-Cold Syndrome:A Multi-Center,Double-Blind,Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial

To assess the efficacy and safety of Gastrosis No.1 compound in the treatment of functional dyspepsia with Spleen （Pi） and Stomach （Wei） deficiency-cold syndrome. Methods： A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was performed in 5 centers. Patients with functional dyspepsia （FD） of Spleen-deficiency and qi-stagnation syndrome （162 cases） were randomly assigned to groups given Chinese herbal medicine （CHM） Gastrosis No.1 compound or placebo in a 2：1 ratio. This trial included a 4-week treatment period and a 4-week follow-up period. The outcomes were the dyspepsia symptom scores （measured by total dyspepsia symptom scale and single dyspepsia symptom scale） and syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine score （measured by traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scale）. The outcomes were noted at weeks 0, 4 and 8. Results： Compared with patients in the placebo group, patients in the CHM group showed significant improvement in the dyspepsia symptom scores as rated by patients and investigators （P〈0.01）, and also showed improvement in syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine score （P〈0.01）. No serious adverse event was reported. Safety tests obtained after 4 weeks of treatment showed no abnormal values. Conclusion： CHM Gastrosis No.1 compound was effective and safe in the treatment of functional dyspepsia with Spleen and Stomach deficiency-cold syndrome.

Clinical observation on spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage for treating recurrent respiratory tract infection in children with cerebral palsy due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage(tuina)for treating recurrent respiratory tract infection in children with cerebral palsy due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung.Methods:A total of 70 children with cerebral palsy who suffered from recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung were randomized into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method,with 35 cases in each group.Both groups were treated with conventional rehabilitation training,while the observation group was given additional spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage,and the control group additionally took oral Yu Ping Feng granule.The clinical efficacy was evaluated by the total effective rate,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score,and serum levels of immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgM and IgG.Results:The difference in total effective rate between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the TCM symptom scores in both groups decreased to varying degrees than those before treatment,and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.01);the differences in the scores of various TCM symptoms between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of IgA,IgM and IgG of the children in both groups increased to varying degrees,and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The between-group differences in the IgA,IgM and IgG levels after treatment were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage can effectively treat recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung in children with cerebral palsy,relieve the clinical symptoms and improve immune function,and thus is worthy of clinical promotion and application.

Clinical observation on moxibustion therapy plus tuina in treating children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage(tuina)for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung.Methods:A total of 60 children who met the inclusion criteria were divided into an observation group and a control group according to the visiting sequence,with 30 cases in each group.Children in the observation group were treated with moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage,and those in the control group were treated with Liu's pediatric massage alone.The incidence of respiratory tract infections and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms score were observed and recorded in both groups before and after treatment.And the clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups・Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.3%,and that of the control group was 83.3%.The differenee between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the TCM symptoms score and total times of infections in both groups were all statistically different from those before treatment(all P<0.05).The differences in TCM symptoms score and infection frequency before and after treatment in the observation group were statistically different from those in the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusion:Moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage has a better effect in improving the clinical symptoms and reducing the frequency of respiratory tract infections for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung than the pediatric massage alone.
