What is summarized as'harmony is of paramount importance' is a most prominent philosophical approach embraced by China's Confucian culture. This is an extension of the approach summarized as 'the people are of paramount importance.' It calls for harmonious human relations, obliging one to respect others' rights and interests while protecting the rights and interests of one's own. Harmony as a philosophical approach manifests itself, in many ways, in the realm of human rights in China today. To name just a few: the country's political system of multi-party cooperation under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, harmony that prevails between different religions in the country, and the country's call for international dialogue and cooperation to promote the human rights cause. As a fine Chinese tradition, this philosophical approach is being carried forward. 展开更多

On March 30. 2004, the Information Office of the State Council of China issued a white paper entitled Progress in China’s Human Rights Cause in 2003. This is the seventh white paper ever published by the Office to expound China’s human rights conditions and its views since 1991, when it first issued Human Rights in China. Based on solid facts, the latest Chinese white paper on human rights, as well as the previous ones, elaborates convincingly the efforts made by the Chinese government to promote and protect human rights and progress in China’s human rights conditions, refuting the alleged "China’s backsliding in human rights" made up by the US government. 展开更多

Since the founding of the People’s republic of china, the path of human rights development in china has been based on national liberation and state sovereignty. The practice of human rights protection in the 30 years before the launch of reform and opening-up accumulated the conditions for the practice after the launch of reform and opening-up.reform and opening-up have provided the great motivation and opportunity for the development of human rights in china.against the background of international practice, china’s human rights development path, since the founding of the People’s republic of china, has been developed in the fight against human rights diplomacy that interferes in china’s internal affairs with human rights used as a political tool.it has gone through the process from evasion to passive counterattacks, and then actively participating and playing a leading role. The 70 years’development of human rights in china shows that human rights progress is highly dependent on the country’s construction of the rule of law,and the coordinated and comprehensive promotion of human rights protection policies promotes the overall progress of the human rights.in order to promote human rights with development, the transition from the top-down path to the combination of top-down and down-top path is suggested. 展开更多

How managers’ knowledge and beliefs of human nature are formed and manifested has not been fully explored in the context of Chinese society going through rapid transition nowadays. And yet this could be the missing link in our discourse on Chinese managers. Based on a qualitative study conducted in Quanzhou, China, this study found certain assumptions of human nature that are deeply embedded in their managers’ intellectual framework, which in turn guide their managerial behaviours in diverse aspects of their work. Unless the managers are prepared to examine their own thoughts, especially those at the sub-conscious level, they would remain prisoners of their own thought, and all the efforts directed at transforming managers would be seriously compromised. 展开更多
