Objective: To investigate the current status of medical support in military operations other than war (MOOTW) in domestic and overseas. Methods: This paper mainly adopts the descriptive, comparative and induction research methods. The current status of medical support in MOOTW in China, America, Russia, Israel, Canada, had been studied through some official papers, and series of professional books by analysis the precise date in various kinds of emergency event. Results: The contrast shows that there is still a quite huge development in medical support in MOOTW, no matter in China, or in other countries. Conclusion: In order to strengthen the forces, besides building professional rescue teams, it is necessary to take a regular revise of plans, according to missions` needs.

Analysis of the Application and Effect of Homemade Medical Scrotal Support Shorts

Objective:To design and manufacture medical scrotal support shorts for patients with enlarged scrotum and observe its application and effect.Methods:40 patients with enlarged scrotum admitted to the basic surgery department from February 2021 to March 2023 were selected and divided into a test group and a control group according to their time of admission,with the test group using scrotal support shorts and the control group using ordinary shorts without scrotal support pockets or diapers.Results:The complication rate of skin injury in the scrotum and the surrounding inguinal area of the patients in the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).The medical cost covered by patients in the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01)and the hospitalization satisfaction of the patients in the test group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).The difference in the therapeutic effect of the test groups was statistically significant when compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Homemade medical scrotal support shorts reduced the local enlargement of the scrotum and bleeding,but also protected the scrotum and the surrounding skin to prevent secondary injuries.The process of patient care was simple and promoted their recovery.The length of hospitalization was also decreased,the burden of health care costs was reduced,and the overall comfort and satisfaction of the patient was improved.

BMRMIA:A Platform for Radiologists to Systematically Learn Automated Medical Image Analysis by Three Dimensional Medical Decision Support System

Contribution:This paper designs a learning and training platform that can systematically help radiologists learn automated medical image analysis technology.The platform can help radiologists master deep learning theories and medical applications such as the three-dimensional medical decision support system,and strengthen the teaching practice of deep learning related courses in hospitals,so as to help doctors better understand deep learning knowledge and improve the efficiency of auxiliary diagnosis.Background:In recent years,deep learning has been widely used in academia,industry,andmedicine.An increasing number of companies are starting to recruit a large number of professionals in the field of deep learning.Increasing numbers of colleges and universities also offer courses related to deep learning to help radiologists learn automated medical image analysis techniques.For now,however,there is no practical training platform that can help radiologists learn automated medical image analysis systematically.ApplicationDesign:The platform proposes the basic learning,model combat,business application(BMR)concept,including the learning guidance system and the assessment training system,which constitutes a closed-loop learning guidance mode of“learning-assessment-training-learning”.Findings:The survey results show that most of radiologists met their learning expectations by using this platform.The platform can help radiologists master deep learning techniques quickly,comprehensively and firmly.

Through the experience of being stationed on the USS Mercy hospital ship(T-AH19) and a preliminary comprehension of the personnel and material arrangements,processing and functional formats,and the multi-platform contributions of US Navy hospital ships,we briefly introduce the characteristics of US hospital ships regarding medical support,emergency rescue exercises,communications and training,international humanitarian aid,etc.We discuss the function and responsibility of Chinese hospital ships,focusing on the investigation of the construction mode and positioning in the navy.

Membranes for the life sciences and their future roles in medicine

Since the global outbreak of COVID-19,membrane technology for clinical treatments,including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)and protective masks and clothing,has attracted intense research attention for its irreplaceable abilities.Membrane research and applications are now playing an increasingly important role in various fields of life science.In addition to intrinsic properties such as size sieving,dissolution and diffusion,membranes are often endowed with additional functions as cell scaffolds,catalysts or sensors to satisfy the specific requirements of different clinical applications.In this review,we will introduce and discuss state-of-the-art membranes and their respective functions in four typical areas of life science:artificial organs,tissue engineering,in vitro blood diagnosis and medical support.Emphasis will be given to the description of certain specific functions required of membranes in each field to provide guidance for the selection and fabrication of the membrane material.The advantages and disadvantages of these membranes have been compared to indicate further development directions for different clinical applications.Finally,we propose challenges and outlooks for future development.
