The broad and profound Chinese medicine culture is an important part of Chinese traditional culture, which nourishes the vigorous development of modern Chinese medicine. At present, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture faces challenges and opportunities. As the inheritor of Chinese medicine culture, we bear the burden of inheriting and carrying forward TCM culture. Distinctive community culture is mainly playing value guidance and education transmission function in the process of residents identifying with the culture of Chinese medicine. Therefore, building a distinctive community culture under the guidance of the essence of TCM can effectively inherit and develop TCM culture. 展开更多

Blood stasis,or stagnation,is a pathological product formed in the course of certain diseases as well as a pathogenic factor of other diseases. The Li ethnic region is known as the“Natural Medicine Bank”and is the primary production base of South China’s medicinal plants.Hainan Island is the home to the vast majority of the Li Culture;the Hainan Li ethnic region is located on the northern edge of the tropics and mostly lies in the mountainous areas of Wuzhi Mountain. This region is frost-free and snow-free year-round,with plenty of heat and rain.Wuzhi Mountain’s terrain is mountainous:high and steep in the middle and low around the foothills. It has fertile soil, rich vegetation, and is rich in animal and plant medicinal materials. The traditional medicine of the Li Culture has named blood stasis“Tun Duo.”Because few studies have been conducted regarding the traditional medicine of the Li Culture in the field of blood stasis, this article began with the collection of commonly-used compound recipes of the Li Culture. It then discussed the differentiation of syndromes through these compound recipes to expand the research results in the field of blood stasis in the traditional medicine of the Li Culture. 展开更多

Scholars have previously attributed the theoretical origin of“the heart is the monarch/ruler”to the monarchical view of politics. However, according to the latest unearthed documents and relevant documents handed down from ancient times,it can be found that the theory of“the heart is the monarch”might derive from the importance of attachment to the“Zhong”ideology in traditional culture, which promoted the concept that the heart as the center of body, should be the ruler and was later evolved as the“monarch”.Similar cognitive views were all mentioned in Confucianism,Taoism, eclectics scholars and other pre-Qin literature, but only in the system of traditional Chinese medicine, they played a significant role in building the heart-centered theory of Zang-Fu.Traditional Chinese medicine is a discipline developed mainly by clinical practice with the fundamental purpose of curing diseases and saving people.Although the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)roots in the pre-Qin Dynasty, the development is unique to the other philosophies. With rich cultural connotations and philosophical thoughts,TCM is certainly the key to the treasures of Chinese civilization and deserves more attention and exploration. 展开更多

Over past decades plant tissue culture has emerged as an alternative of whole plant cultivation in the production of valuable secondary metabolites.Adventitious roots culture of Panax ginseng and Echinacea purpure has reached the scale of 1-10 kL.Some molecular biological techniques, such as transgenic technology and genetic stability are increasingly used in the studies on plant tissue cultures. The studies on elicitors have deepened into the induction mechanism, including signal molecules, functional genes, and so on.More and more biological elicitors, such as A.niger and yeast are used to increase the active compounds in plant tissue cultures. We also discussed the application of synthetic biology in the studies on biosynthesis of artemisinin, paclitaxel, and tanshinon. The studies on active ingredients biosynthesis of medicinal plants provide unprecedented possibilities to achieve mass production of active ingredients.Plant tissue cultures can not only produce active ingredients but also as experimental materials for biosynthesis. In order to improve the contents of active compounds in medicinal plants, following aspects could be carried out gene interference or gene silencing, gene overexpression, combination with chemical synthesis, application of elicitors, and site-directed mutagenesis of the key enzymes. 展开更多

This study aims to reevaluate its status and values. Analyzing the causes, limits, advantages, and properties characters of health instruments in CM, it is found that weak fundamental research, incomplete self-awareness, and complicated social factors are the primary causes of debates. A comprehensive analysis showed health instruments in CM have health evaluation benefits to people from a dominant Chinese culture, meet the requirements of cultural background, and bring long-term value to Chinese instrument researches. However, its values and status should be treated differently depending on various subtypes. Although little theoretical and practical evidences proved that patients-reported health instruments in CM should be proposed independently, the doctors- and nurses-reported questionnaires are necessary. With this in mind, the study group proposes the 'Chinese cultural instruments(CCIs)' and 'health-related CCIs'. The latter one aims to evaluate the health status of people in a dominant Chinese culture. The CCIs theory represents Chinese instrument researches on a larger regional and higher level, and resolves the debates on instruments between CM and Western medicine in China. Health instruments in CM bring more scientific and social benefits for Chinese instrument researches. However, it does not include cultural demands, and lacks scientific significance. CCIs have all its virtues, and add solutions to the latter's theory bottleneck and scientific debates, thus bringing increased benefits to clinical assessment in complementary and alternative medicine researches. 展开更多

Authentication is a key component of quality control, and the quality of Chinese medicinal materials directly impacts clinical efficacy.Chinese medicinal quality control is an important concern of the wider community, and it is intricately connected to the future and development of Chinese medicine.Macroscopic identification has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, and it continues to be effective for resolving important issues related to quality control in the modern-day.However,new challenges have emerged for macroscopic identification. For example, new botanical varieties have emerged, with differences in macroscopic features related to cultivated vs.wild materials.Changes in processing methods and cultivation techniques also affect these features.Consequently, continual progress and innovation in Chinese medicinal authentication methods are needed.Macroscopic identification is based on organoleptic assessment, microscopy, and research of ancient texts, such as the Bencao. In addition to collecting information from traditional experience-based differentiation, innovation can take advantage of new technologies that can provide even more detailed, precise information about morphology. In the present review,we summarized inheritance and innovation in the scientific exposition of Chinese medicinal authentication, featuring a review of specialized publications, description of the establishment of a Chinese medicine specimen center and Chinese Medicine digital project, the expansion of authentication technologies, and the formation of a cultural project dedicated to the Compendium of Materia Medica. 展开更多
