The mercer kernel method is introduced to the fuzzy c-means clustering. It may map implicitly the input data into the high-dimensional feature space through the nonlinear transformation. Among other fuzzy c-means and its variants, the number of clusters is first determined. A self-adaptive algorithm is proposed. The number of clusters, which is not given in advance, can be gotten automatically by a validity measure function. Finally, experiments are given to show better performance with the method of kernel based fuzzy c-means self-adaptive algorithm.展开更多

The quadratic form of the kernel matrix is used to confirm the positive definiteness and their construction. Based on the Bochner theorem, some translation invariant kernels are checked in their Fourier domain. Some rotation invariant radial kernels are inspected according to the Schoenberg theorem. Finally, the construction of discrete scaling and wavelet kernels, the kernel selection and the kernel parameter learning are discussed.展开更多

For non-linearly separable data, kernel functions are a basic ingredient in the SVM technic. In this paper, we briefly recall some useful results on decomposition of RKHS. Based on orthogonal polynomial theory and Mercer theorem, we construct the high power Legendre polynomial kernel on the cube [-1,1]<sup>d</sup>. Following presentation of the theoretical background of SVM, we evaluate the performance of this kernel on some illustrative examples in comparison with Rbf, linear and polynomial kernels.展开更多
