The degassing effect was characterized by measuring densities of ingots. The results show that proper ultrasonic treatment can remove hydrogen from the melt of the Mg-6Zn-1Ca alloy. The ultrasonic degassing effect is closely related to the ultrasonic power density and treatment time. The degassing efficiency increases with an increase in ultrasonic power density when the melt is treated at 690 °C for 120 s, reaching its highest value at 1.2 W·cm-3. When the power density is 1.2 W·cm-3, with an increase in ultrasonic treatment time, the degassing efficiency increases at first, reaches its peak value at 120 s, then decreases as the ultrasonic treatment is further prolonged. The effects of Sm on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-6Al-2Sr alloys were studied by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrometer, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and tensile test. The results show that the microstructure of as-cast Mg-6Al-2Sr alloy is composed of α-Mg, Mg_(17)Al_(12), Mg_(13)Al_(3)Sr and lamellar acicular Al_(4)Sr phase. After adding Sm element, granular block Al2Sm phase appears in the grain. With the increase of Sm content, the discontinuous long strip reticular Mg_(17)Al_(12)phase and the lamellar acicular Al4Sr phase gradually decrease, and the Al_(2)Sm phase increases and distributes more dispersedly, so the alloy microstructure is continuously refined. The average grain size of the alloys decreases at first and then increases with the increase of Sm content. When the Sm content is 1.5 wt%, the average grain size reaches the minimum value of 94.6 μm. With the increase of Sm content, the mechanical properties of the alloy at room temperature first increase and then decrease. When the Sm content is 1.5 wt%, the alloy has the best comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature.展开更多

The effects of Y on microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-6Al alloy have been studied in this work. The results show that Y addition refines grains of Mg-6Al alloy, and reduces the amount of the Mg 17 Al 12 phase. At the same time, the high melting-point Al 2 Y phase particles are formed. According to the mathematical model of the two-dimensional lattice misfit proposed by Braffit, it is believed that the Al 2 Y particles can serve as the nucleation sites for α-Mg. After T6 treatment, both elongation and ultimate tensile strength of Mg-6Al alloy at the room temperature and high-temperature increased firstly and then decreased, with increasing Y addition. The peak mechanical properties were achieved in the Mg-6Al-1.2Y alloy system. Y addition appears to change the fracture characteristic of Mg-6Al alloy. With 1.2wt%Y, the fracture surface of the alloy showed a lot of dimples and tearing ridges which connected the microscopic dimples and the fracture is mixed fracture of quasi-cleavage and ductile fracture.展开更多

The microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy sample in as-cast and various heat treatment situations were characterized with an optical microscope(OM), X-ray diffractometer(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectroscope(EDS), transmission electron microscope(TEM) and mechanical tests at room temperature, respectively. The experimental results show that the as-cast alloy mainly consists of α-Mg, eutectic Mg_2Zn_3, MgZnSm and Mg_(41)Sm_5. These eutectic phases with continuous or semicontinuous morphology principally distribute along grain boundaries. Almost all the eutectic compounds dissolve in α-Mg and the grains have no obvious growth trend after optimum solution treatment at 490 °C for 18 h. Meanwhile, the ultimate tensile strength(UTS) of 229 MPa and elongation(EL) to rupture of 9.78% can be achieved through the optimal solution treatment, which increase by 37 MPa and 57.74%, respectively, compared with that of the as-cast alloy. Further aging treatments at 200 °C for different durations lead to the conspicuous increment of mechanical properties and prominent age-hardening response. Peak-aged alloy(treated at 200 °C for 12 h) reveals better mechanical properties(UTS 258 MPa, EL 9.42%, hardness 73.4 HV) compared with the same alloy treated in other aging conditions, which is mainly ascribed to precipitated Mg_2Zn_3 and MgZn_2 phases. Fracture analysis demonstrates that the as-cast alloy belongs to inter-granular and cleavage fracture patterns, while the solutionized alloy(treated at 490 °C for 18 h) reveals trans-granular and quasi-cleavage fracture modes. For the peak-aged alloy, the fracture pattern obeys the mixture of trans-granular and cleavage modes.展开更多

IEC-6 cells were cultured in different concentrations of Mg-6Zn alloy extracts(40%, 20%) and in the control group. The indirect effects of Mg-6Zn alloy on IEC-6 cells were studied by calculating the cell relative growth rate(RGR), measuring the apoptosis of IEC-6 cells through flow cytometry, and investigating the expression of caspase-3 using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The experimental results show that the cytotoxicity of these extracts is Grade 0-1. The level of apoptosis in IEC-6 cells cultured in 40% Mg-6Zn alloy extracts is significantly higher than that in cells treated with 20% extract and the control group. The expression of caspase-3 is found to be up-regulated in the 40% extract as compared to 20% extract and the control group. Taken together, the data show that the Mg-6Zn alloy in 40% and 20% concentration extracts proves noncytotoxicity. But the 40% concentration of Mg-6Zn alloy extract can induce the apoptosis and the related caspase-3 expression in vitro.展开更多

The results show that the hardening produced in the Mg-8Zn-4Al-1Ca alloy is considerably higher than that in the Mg-8Zn-4A1 alloy. A dense dispersion of disc-like Ca2Mg6Zn3 precipitates are formed in Mg-8Zn-4Al-1Ca alloy aged at 160 ℃ for 16 h. In addition, the lattice distortions, honeycomb-looking Moiré fringes, edge dislocations and dislocation loop also exist in the microstructure. The precipitates of alloy aged at 160 ℃ for 48 h are coarse disc-like and fine dispersed grainy. When the alloy is subjected to aging at 160 ℃ for 227 h, the microstructure consists of numerous MgZn2 precipitates and Ca2Mg6Zn3 precipitates. All the analyses show that Ca is a particularly effective trace addition in improving the age-hardening and postponing the formation of MgZn2 precipitates in Mg-8Zn-4Al alloy aged at 160 ℃.展开更多

文摘The effects of rare earth(RE) elements Y and Nd on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-6Al magnesium alloy were investigated. The results show that a proper level of RE elements can obviously ref ine the microstructure of Mg-6Al magnesium alloys, reduce the quantity of β-Mg17Al12 phase and form Al2Y and Al2Nd phases. The combined addition of Y and Nd dramatically enhances the tensile strength of the alloys in the temperature range of 20-175℃.When the content of RE elements is up to 1.8%,the values of tensile strength at room temperature and at 150℃ simultaneously reach their maximum of 253 MPa and 196 MPa,respectively. The main mechanisms of enhancement in the mechanical properties of Mg-6Al alloy with Y and Nd are the grain ref ining strengthening and the dispersion strengthening.

文摘Laser surface cladding with Al-Si powders was applied to a Mg-6Zn-1Ca magnesium alloy to improve its surface properties. The microstructure, phase components and chemical compositions of the laser-clad layer were analyzed by using X-ray diffractometry(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS).The results show that the clad layer mainly consists ofα-Mg,Mg2Si dendrites,Mg17Al12and Al3Mg2phases.Owing to the formation of Mg2Si,Mg17Al12and Al3Mg2intermetallic compounds in the melted region and grain refinement, the microhardness of the clad layer(HV0.025310)is about5times higher than that of the substrate(HV0.02554).Besides,corrosion tests in the NaCl(3.5%,mass fraction)water solution show that the corrosion potential is increased from-1574.6mV for the untreated sample to-128.7mV for the laser-clad sample, while the corrosion current density is reduced from170.1to6.7μA/cm2.These results reveal that improved corrosion resistance and increased hardness of the Mg-6Zn-1Ca alloy can be both achieved after laser cladding with Al-Si powders.

文摘Tensile tests with small deformation amounts of 0.5%,1%,3%and 5%were performed at room temperature on as cast Mg-1%Al alloy.Microstructures of the Mg-1%Al alloys before and after deformation were observed by optical microscopy(OM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The strain amplitude dependent and temperature dependent damping capacities of the as-cast and deformed Mg-1%Al alloys were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA).The mechanism of deformation on damping capacity of Mg-1%Al alloy was discussed. The results show that the as-cast Mg-1%Al alloy has high damping value at high strain. When the tensile elongation is higher than 3%,the damping values of this alloy in high strain region are significantly decreased at room temperature. But the large amount of dislocations produced by tensile deformation are activated by heat, and then increase the damping value at high temperature.

文摘The solution of the intermetallic phase and the homogenization of composition are important for Mg alloy biomaterials.A single-phase Mg-6Zn alloy with the average grain size of about 20μm was prepared by ECAP processed for six passes at 320°C.It indicated that the ECAP could significantly promote the process of solid solution in Mg-Zn alloy. The results showed that complete dissolution of the intermetallic phase improved the corrosion resistance of Mg-6Zn alloy in 0.9%NaCl solution by turning the corrosion behavior into uniform corrosion and increased the hardness in combination with its smaller grain size.

文摘Mg-6Al-2Sr alloys with different Sm contents(0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, mass fraction) were prepared by melting and casting method. When the Sm content is 1.5 wt%, the alloy has the best comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature.
文摘Since Y has a great solid solubility in magnesium alloys, it helps enhancing the heat-resistant property of magnesium alloys. With 1.2wt%Y, the fracture surface of the alloy showed a lot of dimples and tearing ridges which connected the microscopic dimples and the fracture is mixed fracture of quasi-cleavage and ductile fracture.

文摘A new rare earth magnesium alloy(Mg-6 Zn-4 Sm-0.4 Zr, wt.%) was prepared by permanent mould casting. For the peak-aged alloy, the fracture pattern obeys the mixture of trans-granular and cleavage modes.

文摘In this work,a new(Y,Gd)H_(2) precipitate was identified and systematically investigated in the as-cast Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy by XRD,SEM with EDS,TEM with EDS techniques and thermodynamics analysis. Results show that the as-cast alloy contains α-Mg,Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5),and(Y,Gd)H_(2) phase.The(Y,Gd)H_(2) phase usually forms near the eutectic phase Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) or in the α-Mg grains, displaying a rectangle-shape.The Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) and(Y,Gd)H_(2) phases crystalize in bcc and fcc structure, respectively, and the(Y,Gd)H_(2) phase has a semi-coherent relationship with α-Mg matrix. The thermodynamics calculation results reveal that the hydrogen dissolved in the melt leads to the formation of hydrides. It is also found that the(Y,Gd)H_(2) hydride can form directly from the liquid phase during solidification.Additionally,it can precipitate by the decomposition of Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) phase due to absorbing hydrogen from the remaining melt.

文摘We assessed the in vitro cytotoxicity of Mg-6Zn alloy and analyzed the cell apoptosis rate and the expression of caspase-3 to evaluate the effects of Mg-6Zn alloy extracts on apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells(IEC)-6. But the 40% concentration of Mg-6Zn alloy extract can induce the apoptosis and the related caspase-3 expression in vitro.

文摘The microstructure of Mg-8Zn-4Al-1Ca aged alloy was investigated by TEM and HRTEM. All the analyses show that Ca is a particularly effective trace addition in improving the age-hardening and postponing the formation of MgZn2 precipitates in Mg-8Zn-4Al alloy aged at 160 ℃.
文摘A Mg-6Zn-3Gd(mass fraction,%) alloy, noted as ZG63,was coated by different micro-arc oxidation(MAO) processes, and the coating structure and corrosion resistance of the alloy were studied using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),glancing angle X-ray diffractometry(GAXRD) and various electrochemical methods. The micro-arc oxidation process consists of three stages and corresponds with different coating structures. In the initial stage, the coating thickness is linearly increased and is controlled by electrochemical polarization. In the second stage, the coating grows mainly inward and accords with parabolic regularity. In the third stage, the loose coating forms and is controlled by local arc light. The looser coating is mainly composed of MgSiO3 and the compact coating is mainly composed of MgO.From micro-arc oxidation stage to local arc light stage, the corrosion resistance of the coated alloy firstly increases and then decreases. The satisfied corrosion resistance corresponds to the coating time ranging from 6 to10 min.

文摘The effects of didymium(Nd : Pr = 3 : 1 )on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-10%A1 alloy were studied with the additions of 0~3%Di. The small block-like Al2(Nd,Pr) phase appears in 1%Di alloy, the blocklike Al2(Nd,Pr) and needle-like Al11(Nd,Pr)3 phases appear synchronously in 2%Di and 3%Di alloys, while the network of (Mg17Al12)βphase is broken up. The tensile properties can be improved with the addition of didymium. When the addition of didymium in Mg-10%A1 alloy reaches 2% , the alloy exhibits the best combination of strength and ductility, but the strength and ductility drop at the addition of 3% Di due to the obvious increase of the size and quantity of the needle-like Al11(Nd,Pr)3 phase.

文摘The microstructures and corrosion behaviors of as-cast,T4-treated,and T6-treated Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloys were systematically investigated by SEM,TEM,immersion test, and electrochemical corrosion test. The results show that the microstructure of the as-cast alloy is composed ofα-Mg and Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) eutectic phase, and in T4-treated alloy,Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) phase dissolves into theα-Mg matrix, leading to an increase in the(Y,Gd)H_(2) phase. After T6 treatment, nanoscale Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) phase dispersedly precipitates from theα-Mg matrix, and exhibits a specific orientation relationship with the α-Mg:(332)Mg_((24)(Gd,Y)_(5))//(1011)_(α-Mg),[136]Mg_((24)(Gd,Y)_(5))//[1210]_(α-Mg).The corrosion resistance of the Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloys can be ranked in the following order:T6-treated alloy exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, followed by the T4-treated alloy, and finally, the as-cast alloy. The corrosion products of the alloys are all composed of MgO,Mg(OH)_(2),Gd_(2)O_(3),Y_(2)O_(3),and MgCl_(2).The corrosion behavior of Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy is closely related to the precipitated phase.By establishing the relationship between corrosion rate, hydrogen evolution rate, and corrosion potential,it is further demonstrated that during the micro galvanic corrosion process, the coarse Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5)phase in the as-cast alloy undergoes extensive dissolution,and(Y,Gd)H_(2) phase promotes the dissolution of theα-Mg matrix in the T4-treated alloy, intensifying the hydrogen evolution reaction. The T6-treated alloy, with dispersive precipitation of nanoscale Mg_(24)(Gd,Y)_(5) phase, exhibits better corrosion resistance performance.
