The fact that 25% of the German population have the problem of headache, or migraine is uniquely characteristic of Germany. The administration of analgesics which used to be their local treatment for the problem can neither give a radical cure nor avoid certain side effects. 2. It can be seen from the therapeutic result of a 80% effective rate in 89 cases of migraine that acupuncture treatment is an effective therapy for 'German migraine' without any side effects. 3. Since 10% of the migraine cases were related to the improper sleeping posture, due attention should be paid and appropriate measures be taken to prevent occurrence of headache. 4. While receiving acupuncture treatment, the cases of migraine related to menstruation should also try to regulate their emmeniopathy. 5. It seems somewhat difficult for acupuncture treatment to give good effects in those with migraine related to psychological pressures and in those given long-term administration of contraceptives. This needs to be further studied.展开更多

METHODS: Both the acute blood stasis model group and nitroglycerin-induced migraine model group included 60 Sprague-Dawley rats. The reser- pine-reduced model group had 60 Kunming mice. Rats from each test were grouped into normal con- trol group, model group, Zhengtian pill (ZTP) group, and high, moderate, or low-dose QLTT groups. In the acute blood stasis model test, after gavage for 7 days, rats were given 0.8 mL/kg adren- aline hydrochloride subcutaneously twice, and kept in ice water for 5 min. After fasting for 12 h, rats were anesthetized and blood samples were collected for detection of blood viscosity. In the nitro- glycerin-induced migraine group, after gavage for 7 days, rats were intraperitoneally injected nitro- glycerin (10 mg/kg), and 4 h later, blood samples were collected from postcava for measuring the plasma CGRP and 13-EP levels. In the reserpine-re- duced model test, except the normal control group, mice were administered reserpine (0.25 mg/ kg, i.h.) for 9 days. Mice received intragastric admin- istration from the third day to the ninth day. One hour after the last gavage, blood and brain tissue samples were obtained. Then, blood clotting time and the contents of neurotransmitters were deter- mined. RESULTS: QLTT- (3.6, 1.8, and 0.9 g/kg) and ZTP-treated rats had lower blood viscosity than that in model rats under different shear rates (P〈 0.01). QLTT- (3.6, 1.8 g/kg) and ZTP-treated rats had significantly lower plasma CGRP levels and higher plasma 13-EP levels than those in model rats (P〈 0.01). QLTT treatment at dose of 0.9 g/kg had lower plasma CGRP levels as well (P〈0.05). QLTT- (5.2, 2.6 g/kg) and ZTP-treated mice had longer blood clotting time than that in model mice (P〈0.01). QLTT- (2.6 g/kg) and ZTP-treated mice had higher plasma serotonin (5-HT) levels than those in model mice (P〈0.05). CONCLUSION: QLTT-treated animals had lower plasma CGRP level, higher plasma 13-EP, 5-HT, high- er brain tissue 5-HT, NE, DA levels, and lower blood viscosity than those in the migraine model animals.展开更多

Methods: A total of 64 migraine cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a control group, 32 cases in each group. Random number table method was used in allocation. Acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder were used for cases in the observation group, which contain acupuncture 5 times a week and cupping once a week. Oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules were used for cases in the control group, 10 mg for each dose, 1 dose a day. 2 weeks constitutes a course of treatment. The patients were treated for two courses of treatment in both groups. After that, the changes of visual analogue scale (VAS) and the migraine disability assessment questionnaire (MIDAS) were observed, as well as the clinical efficacy. Results: The total effective rate and recovery and marked effective rate in the observation group were 93.8% and 71.0% respectively, versus 78.1% and 43.8% in the control group, showing statistical significant differences (both P〈O.05). There were significant decreases in VAS and MIDAS scores after treatments in both groups (both P〈O.05). VAS and MIDAS scores in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group (both P〈0.05). Conclusion: Combining acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder can relieve headache and reduce influence of migraine on life. It can produce a better efficacy than oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules in treating migraine patients.展开更多
