The catalysts used in this work were characterized by N 2 adsorption-desorption, TEM, XRD, H 2 -TPR, CO-TPD techniques. It was found that the pre-treatment procedure of CNTs remarkably promoted the catalytic properties of the Cu-Co/CNTs catalysts. For the Cu-Co catalyst supported on CNTs pre-treated by 68 wt% HNO 3 , some active components were introduced into the CNTs channels, their dispersions and the amount of strongly adsorbed CO-species were improved. The CO conversion and alcohol yield on the HNO 3 -pretreated Cu-Co/CNTs catalyst were increased by ~21% and ~69%, respectively, compared with those on the normal Cu-Co/CNTs catalyst.展开更多

Their catalytic performance for thiophene hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and pyrrole hydrodenitrification (HDN) reactions was studied, and compared with the reference system sup- ported by AC. Over the 7.24%Mo3Co1/CNTs catalyst at reaction condition of 1.5 MPa, 613 K, C4H4S/H2=3.7/96.3(molar ratio) and GHSV≈8000 mlswP/(g-cat.h), the specific HDS activity of thiophene reached 3.29 mmolc4H4S/(s.molMo), which was 1.32 times as high as that (2.49 mmolc4H4S/(s.molMo)) of the AC-based counterpart, and was 2.47 times as high as that (1.33 mmolc4H4S/(s-molMo)) of the catalysts supported by AC with the respective optimal MoaCol-loading amount, 16.90%Mo3Co1/AC. Analogous reaction-chemical behaviours were also observed in the case of pyrrole HDN. It was experimentally found that using the CNTs in place of AC as support of the catalyst caused little change in the apparent activation energy for the thiophene HDS or pyrrole HDN reaction, but led to a significant increase in the concentration of catalytically active Mo-species (Mo^4+) at the surface of the functioning catalyst. On the other hand, H2-TPD measurements revealed that the CNT-supported catalyst could reversibly adsorb a greater amount of hydrogen under atmospheric pressure at temperatures ranging from room temperature to about 673 K. This unique feature would help to generate microenvironments with higher stationarystate concentration of active hydrogen-adspecies at the surface of the functioning catalyst. Both factors mentioned above were favorable to increasing the rate of thiophene HDS and pyrrole HDN reactions.展开更多

In the present work, the remarkable Pt particle size effects on glycerol conversion and products formation from the oxidation of the primary and the secondary hydroxyl groups are understood by combining the model calculations and DFT calculations, aiming to discriminate the corresponding dominant Pt active sites. The Pt(100) facet is demonstrated to be the dominant active sites for the glycerol conversion and the products formation from the two routes. The insights revealed here could shed new light on fundamental understanding of the Pt particle size effects and then guiding the design and optimization of Pt-catalyzed base-free oxidation of glycerol toward targeted products.展开更多

In this work, galvanic displacement reaction was employed to prepare Pt^Ni-P/CNT catalysts using electrolessly-plated Ni-P/CNT. These catalysts were extensively characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Catalytic activities towards methanol oxidation and hydrogen evolution reactions were evaluated and benchmarked with a commercial Pt/C catalyst. Uniform dispersion of Pt on Ni-P particles led to high Pt utilization, and the electrochemical surface area of Pt^Ni-P/CNT with 12.1% Pt loading was found to be 126 m2 gà1, higher than that of a commercial Pt/C(77.9 m2 gà1). The Tafel slopes for the Pt^Ni-P/CNT catalysts were also found to be smaller than that of Pt/C indicating faster kinetics for hydrogen evolution reaction.展开更多
