Purpose:Based on the understanding of the characteristics of mobile services(m-services)provided by libraries,we attempt to develop a multidimensional and hierarchical model and a specifically designed measurement sca...Purpose:Based on the understanding of the characteristics of mobile services(m-services)provided by libraries,we attempt to develop a multidimensional and hierarchical model and a specifically designed measurement scale for the assessment of libraries' m-service quality.Design/methodology/approach:The research has been conducted sequentially in two stages.At the first stage,a multidimensional and hierarchical model of library m-service quality and a measurement scale are developed through literature review and focus group interviews.At the second stage the model is tested using partial disaggregation technique for an analysis of the data collected from over 400 library users in 3 Chinese universities.Findings:The proposed model is shown to fit the data well.The empirical analysis provides strong support for the model,which includes 4 dimensions(service environment,service interaction,information control and service effect) and 12 corresponding sub-dimensions.Research limitations:The sample size needs to be enlarged and the user types need to be expanded to make the sample more representative.Practical implications:The study provides a conceptual framework and measurement tool that can help library managers understand the users' needs in the context of mobile network environment,and boost their libraries' competitiveness by carrying out better services to meet the user demands.Originality/value:The proposed model and measurement scale specifically designed for the assessment of libraries' m-service quality fully reflect the hierarchical structure of libraries' m-service quality.In addition,by using partial disaggregation technique for model testing,we believe our research can serve as a practical reference to those engaged in the development and examination of a multidimensional and hierarchical model.展开更多

The empirical research is conducted in the sample of high-value customers in China mobile market. Based on Lewin behavior model, this paper establishes factors-matrix from personal and environmental dimensions. Relationships among multiple factors are tested in the structural equation model and their impacts on customers' demands are elaborated. Findings indicate that operational convenience and business brand image have significant effects on sample users' demands. Furthermore, annual income, gender, occupation, the needs of access to information and the needs of enriching and improving social relationships are also important factors for high-value users. The results may provide further insights into mobile service demand and the model can be popularized to other behavior researches.展开更多

These systems resolve position of a user by using GNSS/GPS positioning technologies, to which supplementary information on goods and services are tagged. The navigation services have become popular and can be installed on mobile phones to provide route information, location of points of interest and user’s current location. LBS has continued to face challenges which include “communication” process towards user reference. Location Based Service System conveys suitable information through a mobile device for effective decision making and reaction within a given time span. This research was geared at understanding the state of LBS technology acceptance and adoption by users in Nairobi Kenya. To do this a quantitative study was carried out through a questionnaire, to investigate mobile phone users’ response on awareness and use of LBS technology. Testing the growth of this technology in this region compared to predictions in previous studies using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), it is evident that many users may be aware of GPS functionality in mobile phones but are certainly yet to fully embrace the technology as they rarely use it. This points to some underlying challenges towards this technology within this part of the World, thereby recommending for deliberate monitoring and evaluation of LBS technology for sustenance growth based on user satisfaction and acceptance for improved usability.展开更多

By utilizing tetra-class model which concentrates on categorizing services according to their contributions to us...Purpose: This study intends to evaluate the service quality of academic digital libraries(DLs)in China. By utilizing tetra-class model which concentrates on categorizing services according to their contributions to user satisfaction, this paper attempts to visually categorize the specific DL service elements to reveal their present performances, and then further explain the categorizing variations among different groups of users to discover the user preference.Design/methodology/approach: This paper carries out a survey to evaluate user experience on 27 typical DL services summarized from our investigations of representative Chinese university DLs. Based on the five-point Likert-type scale evaluation, the users’ attitudes toward specific service element are divided into negative and positive dimensions. Afterwards,a correspondence analysis is applied to calculate the contributions to satisfaction and dissatisfaction of each service element based on tetra-class model. As a result, the DL service elements of Chinese academic libraries are classified into four categories(i.e. Basic, Secondary,Plus, and Key). Finally, we compared the categorizing variations.Findings: The results show that the DL service elements of Chinese academic libraries are all distributed in Basic and Key services regarding information retrieval and informationorganizing; 80% of the interaction services elements are Plus services, while 50% of the Secondary services are information-providing services. The results also reveal that service categorization is obviously influenced by the users’ education background, especially their disciplines. Furthermore, the users who are older, more highly-educated, or studying in higher reputation universities are more likely to evaluate DL services as either critical or useless.Research limitations: Tetra-class model cannot reveal the interplay among the DL service elements. In addition, the user segmentation in our studies is limited to the sample structure.Practical implications: This empirical study focuses on the evaluation of DL services of academic libraries in China, the analyses of their current performances could provide useful reference for the assessment of other types of Chinese DLs. Moreover, the consideration of user characteristics(gender, age, and education background, etc.) in the DL evaluation would help librarians improve DL services to meet the users’ various needs in teaching and doing scientific research.Originality/value: Different from the frequently-used factor analysis which focuses on the relationship among factors and user satisfaction, this paper tries to use and compare element distributions of different user segments while focusing on various service objectives. Factor analysis shows some flaws as used to measure the element with selected indicators, for it ignores the fact that the indicators which measure the same factor would have different degrees of impacts on user satisfaction. In the network field,Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)contain prolonged attention due to afresh augmentations.Industries like health care,traffic,defense,and many more systems espoused the WSN.These networks contain tiny ...In the network field,Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)contain prolonged attention due to afresh augmentations.Industries like health care,traffic,defense,and many more systems espoused the WSN.These networks contain tiny sensor nodes containing embedded processors,TinyOS,memory,and power source.Sensor nodes are responsible for forwarding the data packets.To manage all these components,there is a need to select appropriate parameters which control the quality of service of WSN.Multiple sensor nodes are involved in transmitting vital information,and there is a need for secure and efficient routing to reach the quality of service.But due to the high cost of the network,WSN components have limited resources to manage the network.There is a need to design a lightweight solution that ensures the quality of service in WSN.In this given manner,this study provides the quality of services in a wireless sensor network with a security mechanism.An incorporated hybrid lightweight security model is designed in which random waypoint mobility(RWM)model and grey wolf optimization(GWO)is used to enhance service quality and maintain security with efficient routing.MATLAB version 16 andNetwork Stimulator 2.35(NS2.35)are used in this research to evaluate the results.The overall cost factor is reduced at 60%without the optimization technique and 90.90%reduced by using the optimization technique,which is assessed by calculating the signal-to-noise ratio,overall energy nodes,and communication overhead.展开更多
