In this queueing system, any batch arrival joins the queue if the server is busy or on vacation or under repair. However, if the server is free, one customer from the arriving batch joins the service immediately while others join the queue. In case of server breakdown, the customer whose service is interrupted returns back to the head of the queue. As soon as the server has is repaired, the server attends to the customer in mode 1. For this queueing system, customers that are impatient due to breakdown and server vacation may renege (leave the queue without getting service). Due to fluctuating modes of service delivery, the system may provide service with complete or reduced efficiency. Consequently, we construct the mathematical model and derive the probability generating functions of the steady state probabilities of several states of the system including the steady state queue size distribution. Further, we discuss some particular cases of the proposed queueing model. We present numerical examples in order to demonstrate the effects of server vacation and reneging on the various states of the system. The study revealed that an increase in reneging and a decrease in server vacation results in a decrease in server utilization and an increase in server’s idle time provided rates of server breakdown and repair completion are constant. In addition, the probability of server vacation, the probability of system is under repair and the probabilities that the server provides service in three fluctuating modes decreases due to an increase in reneging and a decrease in vacation completion rates.展开更多

The general situation of radiation oncology and recommendation for improvement of radiotherapy services in the country were also highlighted. Further assessment was to investigate and determine the relationship between age, different types of cancer, and gender for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment. Materials and Methods: A data compilation, analysis, and evaluation process were conducted at two cancer treatment centers in Kenya followed by an assessment of radiotherapy cancer treatment facilities in the country. The number of the patients treated for cervical, breast prostate, esophagus, rectum, and lung cancer against their ages and gender were also compiled for assessment. Results: The number of cancer patients treated by radiotherapy continuously increased annually and he trends of the graphs in both centers were similar. Cervical cancer was the most common cancer treated by radiotherapy at the two centers, followed by breast and prostate cancer. Different types of cancer assessed were dependent on age and that cancer appeared at younger ages in female cervical and breast cancer patients as opposed to the male prostate cancer. Conclusion: The results indicate a continuous annual increase in cancer patients treated by radiotherapy in Kenya radiotherapy centers. The increase may be attributed to the rising population, limited access to cancer awareness, and the growing adoption of unhealthy lifestyles, among other factors. Female cervical and breast cancer patients contracted the disease at younger ages (46 - 50 years) compared to the male prostate cancer patients with a mean age of 61 - 65 years. Socio-economic factors, the organization of healthcare systems, and a limited workforce have been identified as some of the barriers to the provision of proper radiotherapy services in the country.展开更多

文摘The Hongqiling large nickel-copper-cobalt deposit(hereafter referred to as the Hongqiling deposit),a typical mafic-ultramafic copper-nickel deposit in China, boasts proven Ni(Ni)resources of approximately 22×10^(4)t,associated copper resources of 2×10^(4)t,and associated cobalt(Co)resources of 0.5×10^(4)t,with Ni reserves ranking 10th among China's magmatic nickel deposits.Geotectonically, the Hongqiling deposit is situated in the superimposed zone between the Xing'an-Mongolian orogenic belt and the circum-Western Pacific's active continental margin belt. Its ore-bearing plutons occur within the metamorphic rocks of the Ordovician Hulan Group, with the emplacement of plutons and the locations of orebodies governed by the deep-seated Huifahe fault and its secondary NW-trending Fujia-Hejiagou-Beixinglong-Changsheng fault zone.In the deposit, the rock assemblages of ore-bearing plutons predominantly encompass gabbro-pyroxenite-olivine pyroxenite-pyroxene peridotite(pluton No.1)and norite-orthopyroxenite-harzburgite(pluton No.7),with ore-bearing lithofacies consisting primarily of olivine pyroxenite and pyroxenite facies. The Hongqiling deposit hosts stratoid, overhanging lentoid, veined, and pure-sulfide veined orebodies. Its ores principally contain metallic minerals including pyrrhotite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite, violarite, and pyrite.Despite unidentified magma sources of ore-bearing mafic-ultramafic rocks,it is roughly accepted that the magmatic evolution in the Hongqiling deposit primarily involved fractional crystallization and crustal contamination. The ore-forming materials were primarily derived from the upper mantle, mixed with minor crustal materials. The ore-bearing mafic-ultramafic rocks in the deposit, primarily emplaced during the Indosinian(208-239 Ma),were formed in an intense extension setting followed by the collisional orogeny between the North China Plate and the Songnen-Zhangguangcai Range Block during the Middle-Late Triassic. From the perspective of the metallogenic geological setting, surrounding rocks,ore-controlling structures, and rock assemblages, this study identified one favorable condition and seven significant indicators for prospecting for Hongqiling-type nickel deposits and developed a prospecting model of the Hongqiling deposit. These serve as valuable references for exploring similar nickel deposits in the region,as well as the deep parts and margins of the Hongqiling deposit.
文摘This article examines the effects of reneging, server breakdown and server vacation on the various states of the batch arrivals queueing system with single server providing service to customers in three fluctuating modes. In addition, the probability of server vacation, the probability of system is under repair and the probabilities that the server provides service in three fluctuating modes decreases due to an increase in reneging and a decrease in vacation completion rates.

文摘Purpose: Owing to the missing recent data regarding cancer case volumes in Kenyan hospitals since 2012, the aim of the study was to fill the gap by providing data for two hospitals in Nairobi, the post year 2012. Socio-economic factors, the organization of healthcare systems, and a limited workforce have been identified as some of the barriers to the provision of proper radiotherapy services in the country.
