This year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan.Looking back on the past and forward to the future,we realize modernity has become a critical issue that not only China and Japan,but the whole East Asian region should pay attention to.China and Japan are both within the“Circle of Confucius Culture”and are both modern latecomer countries.As they were coerced by western countries to enter the modern age,they shared multiple common features.An exploration of the two countries’respective rising of modern women’s education is an important path to discuss the reconstruction of gender and an important method of the course of the embodiment of east-Asian women into modernization drives.With regards to conclusion,entering the modern age,Chinese and Japanese intellectuals reshaped the female gender in terms of interpersonal relationship,value system,and knowledge structure by advocating the idea of“virtuous wives and worthy mothers”education.In the concept of virtuous wives and worthy mothers in East Asia,the Confucian ethics of“docility and virtue”is the soul,and modern scientific knowledge serves this core value.On the other hand,in the course of localization in China and Japan,this imported concept from the West has encountered a completely different historical fate. 展开更多

The paper introduces about the rural surplus labor transfer.According to the paper,the transfer of rural surplus labor in China presents such fundamental characteristics as randomness and non-thoroughness,scope and field constraint,and hysteretic nature of employment and industrial structure conversion.Besides,the causes of the difficulties in the transfer of rural surplus labor lie in the barriers from the system and policy,structural imbalance of industry and low quality of rural labor.The paper studies the correlation between the quality and the transfer of rural surplus labor FORCE in a systematical way from three aspects,which are the correlations between rural labor quality and the transfer difficulty & speed,the transfer scope & field and the employment stability & income after transfer respectively.Moreover,the paper carries out analysis of the special effects of vocational education on the transfer of rural surplus labor in China,which shows that vocational education is a help in the improvement of cultural qualities,labor skills and physical & mental health of rural labor. 展开更多

Nursing becoming a respectable,decent profession for educated Chinese women was a challenging undertaking.The early advancement of nursing in China was a collective effort of the missionary medicine,the private foundations,and the endurance,dedication and hardworking of the Chinese as well as foreign nurses.Western missionary introduced modern nursing in China and laid the preliminary foundation for its development,while the upgrading of nursing education from training to higher learning was a contribution by the School of Nursing Peking Union Medical College (PUMC),envisioned and supported by the China Medical Board.Its state-of-the-art and visionary education model,the high standard and the initiatives in public health nursing,and the heroic and patriotic military nursing created by the PUMC's outstanding graduates produced a cohort of leaders in nursing education and profession in China before 1949.All these efforts acting together shaped the modern nursing in China,leaving a great heritage to nursing education and practice to New China. 展开更多

Purpose:This study conducted a review of policy reforms of school–enterprise cooperation in China's vocational education and its characteristics at different stages.Design/Approach/Methods:This study systematically reviewed vocational educational policies on school–enterprise cooperation adopted by the Chinese government since 1978 using textual analysis.Findings:The development of school–enterprise cooperation in China's vocational education can be divided into four stages:spontaneous development(Stage 1),central position establishment(Stage 2),systematic design(Stage 3),and institutional construction(Stage 4).After years of practice and exploration,China's school–enterprise cooperation has made impressive achievements,but also has several problems that require further improvement.Originality/Value:This study examined over 40 years of history of the development of vocational school–enterprise cooperation in China,providing a useful reference for learning and understanding Chinese vocational education. 展开更多
