To improve the reliability of the light emitting diode(LED)signal lamp filament current monitoring alarm instrument for metro systems,a new type of hot standby online monitoring apparatus was developed which is based on synchronous transmission data(STD)bus technology.In this system,a double hot standby mode can be achieved by adopting bus arbitration.In addition,to detect the effective value of alternating current which is from 0 to 200 mA in the signal lamp lighting circuit,a precision rectifier signal conditioning circuit and an isolated acquisition circuit were designed.This new type of alarm instrument has high detection accuracy and could meet the functional requirements for metro signal systems after comparing it with some industry products that were applied on the spot. 展开更多

The high profile failure of the Malahide Viaduct in Dublin, Ireland, which is a part of the EU TEN-T network of critical transport links, was caused by foundation scour. Scour is a common soil-structure interaction problem. In light of current changes in climate, increasing frequency of flooding, coupled with the increasing magnitude of these flood events, will lead to a higher risk of bridge failure. Moni- toring scour is of paramount importance to ensure the continued safe operation of the aging bridge asset network. Most monitoring regimes are based on expensive underwater instrumentation that can often be subjected to damage during times of flooding, when scour risk is at its highest. This paper presents a critical review of existing scour monitoring equipments and methodologies with a particular focus on those using the dynamic response of the structure to indicate the existence and severity of the scour phenomenon affecting the structure. A sensitivity study on a recently developed monitoring method is also undertaken. 展开更多

The technology of continuously welded rails (CWRs) is important in modern railway track structures. To measure rail stress, resistance strain gauges are preferred due to their good stability, sensitivity, and esistance to external interference. Based on the bi-directional strain method, we present a new method for measuring longitudinal rail stress using resistance strain gauges and develop a monitoring device for rail stress to realize long-term and multi-point measurement. Also relevant experimental verification and analysis are conducted. Results indicate that under various constraints the rail stress–strain values can be calculated just with the measured total longitudinal strain and total vertical strain. Considering the measurement error caused by sectional feature of sensors, we put forward a correction equation applicable to different stress conditions. Although the temperature values of the four full-bridge stress gauges can offset each other, the measurement error caused by rail flexural strain can also be eliminated to a certain extent at the same time, the nonuniform distribution of rail cross section temperature and unbalanced flexural strain still affect the measurement error. The experimental results also show that the developed rail-stress-monitoring sensor is suitable for measuring rail stress with reliable working performance. 展开更多

The Seasonal Variations of Aerosols over East Asia as Jointly Inferred from MODIS and OMI 被引量:5

Data on aerosol optical thickness(AOT) and single scattering albedo(SSA) derived from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS) and Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI) measurements,respectively,are used jointly to examine the seasonal variations of aerosols over East Asia.The seasonal signals of the total AOT are well defined and nearly similar over the land and over the ocean.These findings indicate a natural cycle of aerosols that originate primarily from natural emissions. In contrast,the small-sized aerosols represented by the fine-mode AOT,which are primarily generated over the land by human activities,do not have evident seasonalscale fluctuations.A persistent maximum of aerosol loadings centered over the Sichuan basin is associated with considerable amounts of fine-mode aerosols throughout the year.Most regions exhibit a general spring maximum. During the summer,however,the aerosol loadings are the most marked over north central China.This occurrence may result from anthropogenic fine particles,such as sulfate and nitrate.Four typical regions were selected to perform a covariation analysis of the monthly gridded AOT and SSA.Over southwestern and southeastern China,if the aerosol loadings are small to moderate they are composed primarily of the highly absorptive aerosols. However,more substantial aerosol loadings probably represent less-absorptive aerosols.The opposite covariation pattern occurring over the coastal-adjacent oceans suggests that the polluted oceanic atmosphere is closely correlated with the windward terrestrial aerosols.North central China is strongly affected by dust aerosols that show moderate absorption.This finding may explain the lower variability in the SSA that accompanies increasing aerosol loadings in this region. 展开更多

Spatio-temporal Distributions of Tropospheric NO_2 over Oases in Taklimakan Desert, China

Soil biogenic NO emission is one of the most important sources of atmospheric nitrogen oxides(NOx) worldwide. However, the estimation of soil source, especially in arid areas presents large uncertainties because of the substantial lack of measurements. In this study, we selected the Ruoqiang oases on the southeastern edge of the Taklimakan Desert, China as the study area and applied Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI) NO2 retrievals(DOMINO v2.0, 2005–2011) to investigate the spatial distribution and seasonal variations in tropospheric NO2 vertical column density(VCD). High NO2 VCDs were observed over the oases(farmlands and natural vegetation), with the highest value obtained during summer, and lowest during winter. Pulses were observed during spring. We conducted in-situ measurements in June 2011 in Milan oasis and employed ground-based multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS) instruments to validate satellite NO2 retrievals. The findings are as follows: 1) in the study area soil biogenic NO emission is the dominant source of tropospheric NO2; 2) oases(farmlands) are hotspots of tropospheric NO2, and a higher increase in tropospheric NO2 is found in oases from winter to summer; and 3) enhancement of soil biogenic NO emission due to soil managements is predictable. Given the rapid agricultural development in the southern Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang, researches on soil biogenic NO emission and increase in tropospheric NOx should be given more importance. 展开更多

Development of a portable coal rock charge monitoring instrument and its application for rockburst control

Effective monitoring techniques and equipment are essential for the prevention and control of coal and rockdynamic disasters such as rockburst. Based on the fact that there is charge generation during deformation andrupture of coal rock body and the charge signals contain a large amount of information about the mechanicalprocess of deformation and rupture of coal rock, the rockburst charge sensing monitoring technology has beenformed. In order to improve the charge sensing technology for monitoring and early warning of rockburst disasters, this paper develops a new generation of portable coal rock charge monitoring instrument on the basis ofthe original instrument and carries out laboratory and underground field application. The primary advancementinvolves enhancing the external structure of the sensor and increasing the charge sensing area, which can morecomprehensively capture the charge signals from the loaded rupture of the coal rock body. The overall structure ofthe data acquisition instrument has been improved, the monitoring channels have been increased, and thefunction of displaying the monitoring data curve has been added, so that the coal and rock body force status canbe grasped in time. The results of the experimental study show that the abnormal charge signals can be monitoredduring the rupture process of rock samples under loading, and the monitored charge signals are in good agreement with the sudden change of stress in the rock samples and the formation of crack extension. There is aprecursor charge signal before the stress mutation, and the larger the loading rate is, the earlier the precursorcharge signal appears. The charge monitoring instrument can monitor the charge signal of the coal seam roadwayunder strong mining pressure. In the zone of elevated overburden pressure, the amount of induced charge is large,and anomalously high value charge signals can be monitored when a coal shot occurs. The change trend of thecharge at different measuring points of strike and inclination has a good consistency with the distribution ofoverrunning support pressure and lateral support pressure, which can reflect the stress distribution and the degreeof stress concentration of the coal body through the size and location of the charge, foster early warning andanalysis of rockburst, and provide target guidance for the prevention and control of rockburst. 展开更多

Comprehensive air quality model with extensions(CAMx)-decoupled direct method(DDM)was used to simulate ozone-NO_(x)-VOCs sensitivity of for May-November in 2016-2018 in China.Based on the relationship between the simulated ozone(O_(3))sensitivity values and the ratio of formaldehyde(HCHO)to NO_(2)(FNR)and the ratio of production rate of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))to production rate of nitric acid(HNO_(3))(P_(H_(2)O_(2))/P_(HNO_(3))),the localized range of FNR and P_(H_(2)O_(2))/P_(HNO_(3))thresholds in different regions in China were obtained.The overall simulated FNR values are about 1.640-2.520,and P_(H_(2)O_(2))/P_(HNO_(3))values are about 0.540-0.830 for the transition regime.Model simulated O_(3)sensitivities or region specific FNR or P_(H_(2)O_(2))/P_(HNO_(3))thresholds should be applied to ensure the accurate local O3 sensitivity regimes.Using the tropospheric column FNR values from ozone monitoring instrument(OMI)satellite data as an indicator with the simulated threshold values,the spatial distributions of O_(3)formation regimes in China are determined.The O_(3)sensitivity regimes from eastern to central China are gradually from VOC-limited,transition to NO_(x)-limited spatially,and moving toward to transition or NO_(x)-limited regime from 2005 to 2019 temporally. 展开更多
