Lithium-selenium(Li-Se)battery has attracted growing attention.Nevertheless, its practical application is still impeded by the shuttle effect of the formed polyselenides.Herein,we report in-situ hydrothermal weaving the three-dimensional(3 D)highly conductive hierarchically interconnected nanoporous web by threading microporous metal organic framework MIL-68(Al)crystals onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs).Such 3 D hierarchically nanoporous web(3 D MIL-68(Al)@MWCNTs web)with a very high surface area,a large amount of micropores, electrical conductivity and elasticity strongly traps the soluble polyselenides during the electrochemical reaction and significantly facilitates lithium ion diffusion and electron transportation.Molecular dynamic calculation confirmed the strong affinity of MIL-68(Al)for the adsorption of polyselenides, quite suitable for Li-Se battery.Their hexahedral channels(1.56 nm)are more efficient for the confinement of polyselenides and for the diffusion of electrolytes compared to their smaller triangular channels(0.63 nm).All these excellent characteristics of 3 D MIL-68(Al)@MWCNTs web with suitable confinement of a large amount of selenium and the conductive linkage between MIL-68(Al)host by MWCNTs result in a high capacity of 453 m Ah/g at 0.2 C with 99.5%coulombic efficiency after 200 cycles with significantly improved cycle stability and rate performance. The 3 D MIL-68(Al)@MWCNTs web presents a good performance in Li-Se battery in term of the specific capacity and cycling stability and also in terms of rate performance compared with all the metal-organic framework(MOF)based or MOF derived porous carbons used in Li-Se battery. 展开更多

Desalination is considered a viable method to overcome the issue of water scarcity either from waste water or seawater. For this purpose, this study employed a facile approach to develop surface immobilized oxidized-MWCNTs(o-MWCNTs) onto crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) membrane. Firstly, modified polysulphone substrate was synthesized on to which crosslinked PVA layer was spread onto it. PVA layer act as active layer for surface immobilization of o-MWCNTs in varying concentration. The functional group analysis, morphology and roughness of membranes surface was conducted out using FTIR, SEM and AFM respectively. The results showed that modified membranes, immobilized o-MWCNTs enhanced the salt rejection(Na_(2)SO_(4)) upto 99.8%. After contacting with Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus for 2.5 h the bacteria mortalities of the fabricated membrane could reach 96.9%. Furthermore, the antibiofouling tests showed that OP-MWCNTs(1-5) modified membranes have higher anti-biofouling property than the control membrane. 展开更多

Aluminum alloy matrix composites have found a predominant place in research, and their applications are explored in almost all industries. The aerospace industry has been using precipitation-hardenable alloys in structural applications. However, insufficient literature is available on the influence of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on precipitation-hardenable alloy composite materials; thus, this work was designed to elucidate the effect on MWCNT reinforcement on AA2219 with and without precipitation hardening. Reinforcement with MWCNTs has been reported to accelerate precipitation and to achieve greater hardness within a much shorter time. The addition of 0.75wt% MWCNTs resulted in maximal hardness at 90 min, which is approximately 27% of improvement over the maximum hardness achieved by the corresponding monolithic alloy after 10 h of aging. The sample reinforced with 0.75wt% MWCNTs showed an improve- ment of 82% in hardness by solutionizing and aging compared to that achieved by sintering. 展开更多
