Therefore, it may not be a suitable model for many of the exclusive networks between the nodes. This paper analyzes the energy efficiency(EE) and optimizes the two-tier heterogeneous cellular networks(Het Nets). Considering the mutual exclusion between macro base stations(MBSs) distribution, the deployment of MBSs is modeled by the Matérn hard-core point process(MHCPP), and the deployment of pico base stations(PBSs) is modeled by the PPP. We adopt a simple approximation method to study the signal to interference ratio(SIR) distribution in two-tier MHCPP-PPP networks and then derive the coverage probabilities, the average data rates and the energy efficiency of Het Nets. Finally, an optimization algorithm is proposed to improve the EE of Het Nets by controlling the transmit power of PBSs. The simulation results show that the EE of a system can be effectively improved by selecting the appropriate transmit power for the PBSs. In addition, two-tier MHCPP-PPP Het Nets have higher energy efficiency than two-tier PPP-PPP Het Nets.展开更多

Sensing coverage is closely related to network energy consumption. The performance of a sensor network depends to a large extent on the sensing coverage, and its lifetime is determined by its energy consumption. In this paper, an energy-efficient Area Coverage protocol for Heterogeneous Energy sensor networks (ACHE) is proposed. ACHE can achieve a good performance in terms of sensing area coverage, lifetime by minimizing energy consumption for control overhead, and balancing the energy load among all nodes. Adopting the hierarchical clustering idea, ACHE selects the active nodes based on the average residual energy of neighboring nodes and its own residual energy parameters. Our simulation demonstrates that ACHE not only provide the high quality of sensing coverage, but also has the good performance in the energy efficiency. In addition, ACHE can better adapt the applications with the great heterogeneous energy capacities in the sensor networks, as well as effectively reduce the control overhead.展开更多

Heterogeneity with respect to number/types of communication interfaces, their data rates and that with respect to energy dissipation model have been exploited for energy and throughput efficiency. The algorithm makes routing assignment optimized for throughput and energy and has a complexity of N/K*logN+k2logk approximately, where N is the number of nodes and k is the number of kcluster heads. Performance experiments confirm the effectiveness of throughput and energy optimizations. The importance of choosing an optimal cluster radius has been shown. The energy consumption in the network scales up well with respect to the network size.展开更多

In this study, a remote-sensing technique using a large aperture scintillometer (LAS) was investigated to estimate surface-layer turbulent fluxes over a highly heterogeneous urban area. The LAS system, with an optical path length of 2.1 km, was deployed in an urban area characterized by a complicated land-use mix (residential houses, water body, bare ground, etc.). The turbulent sensible heat (QH) and momentum fluxes (z) were estimated from the scintillation measurements obtained from the LAS system during the cold season. Three-dimensional LAS footprint modeling was introduced to identify the source areas ("footprint") of the estimated turbulent fluxes. The analysis results showed that the LAS-derived turbulent fluxes for the highly heterogeneous urban area revealed reasonable temporal variation during daytime on clear days, in comparison to the land-surface process-resolving numerical modeling. A series of sensitivity tests indicated that the overall uncertainty in the LAS-derived daytime QH was within 20%-30% in terms of the influence of input parameters and the non- dimensional similarity function for the temperature structure function parameter, while the estimation errors in z were less sensitive to the factors of influence, except aerodynamic roughness length. The 3D LAS footprint modeling characterized the source areas of the LAS-derived turbulent fluxes in the heterogeneous urban area, revealing that the representative spatial scales of the LAS system deployed with the 2.1 km optical path distance ranged from 0.2 to 2 km2 (a "micro-a scale"), depending on local meteorological conditions.展开更多

Nodes are distributed in a sensing area that is divided into a number of same equilateral hexagons. Heterogeneous nodes act as the cluster heads and ordinary nodes act as those cluster sensors in all clusters. The structure of WSNs is a two-layer structure. The upper layer consists of all cluster heads and the lower layer consists of all ordinary sensors managed by their corresponding cluster heads. The cluster heads and the ordinary sensors establish their pairwise keys respectively through utilizing different methods. The arithmetic balances energy expense among all kinds of nodes, saves the node energy, and prolongs the life of wireless sensor networks. Additionally, Analysis demonstrates that the security of wireless sensor networks has been improved obviously even with some heterogeneous nodes.展开更多

文摘In this paper,a new communication model is built named grouping D2D(GD2D).Different from the traditional D2D coordination,we proposed GD2D communication in licensed and unlicensed spectrum simultaneously. We formulate a resource allocation problem, which aims at maximizing the energy efficiency(EE)of the system while guaranteeing the quality-of-service(Qos)of users. To efficiently solve this problem, the non-convex optimization problem is first transformed into a convex optimization problem.By transforming the fractional-form problem into an equivalent subtractive-form problem,an iterative power allocation algorithm is proposed to maximize the system EE.Moreover, the optimal closedform power allocation expressions are derived by the Lagrangian approach.Simulation results show that our algorithm achieves higher EE performance than the traditional D2D communication scheme.

文摘The Poisson point process(PPP) has been widely used in wireless network modeling and performance analysis due to the independence between its nodes. In addition, two-tier MHCPP-PPP Het Nets have higher energy efficiency than two-tier PPP-PPP Het Nets.
文摘The internet of things(IoT)has a wide variety of applications, which in turn raisesmany challenging issues.IoT technology enables devices to closely monitor their environment, providing context-aware intelligence based on the real-time data collected by their sensor nodes. The IoT not only controls these devices but also monitors their user’s behaviour. One of the major issues related to IoT is the need for an energy-efficient communication protocol which uses the heterogeneity and diversity of the objects connected through the internet.Minimizing energy consumption is a requirement for energyconstrained nodes and outsourced nodes. The IoT nodes deployed in different geographical regions typically have different energy levels. This paper focuses on creating an energy-efficient protocol for IoTwhich can deal with the clustering of nodes and the cluster head selection process. An energy thresholdmodel is developed to select the appropriate cluster heads and also to ensure uniform distribution of energy to those heads andmember nodes. The proposed model envisages an IoT network with three different types of nodes, described here as advanced, intermediate and normal nodes.Normal nodes are first-level nodes, which have the lowest energy use;intermediate nodes are second-level nodes, which have a medium energy requirement;and the advanced class are thirdlevel nodes with the highest energy use.The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other existing algorithms. In tests,it shows a 26%improvement in network lifetime compared with existing algorithms.

文摘In this paper, maximizing energy efficiency(EE)through radio resource allocation for renewable energy powered heterogeneous cellular networks(HetNet)with energy sharing,is investigated. Our goal is to maximize the network EE,conquer the instability of renewable energy sources and guarantee the fairness of users during allocating resources. We define the objective function as a sum weighted EE of all links in the HetNet.We formulate the resource allocation problem in terms of subcarrier assignment, power allocation and energy sharing,as a mixed combinatorial and non-convex optimization problem. We propose an energy efficient resource allocation scheme, including a centralized resource allocation algorithm for iterative subcarrier allocation and power allocation in which the power allocation problem is solved by analytically solving the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT)conditions of the problem and a water-filling problem thereafter and a low-complexity distributed resource allocation algorithm based on reinforcement learning(RL).Our numerical results show that both centralized and distributed algorithms converge with a few times of iterations. The numerical results also show that our proposed centralized and distributed resource allocation algorithms outperform the existing reference algorithms in terms of the network EE.
文摘Sensing coverage and energy consumption are two primary issues in wireless sensor networks. In addition, ACHE can better adapt the applications with the great heterogeneous energy capacities in the sensor networks, as well as effectively reduce the control overhead.

文摘We propose a novel cluster based distributed routing algorithm in a generalized form for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. The energy consumption in the network scales up well with respect to the network size.

文摘Gyrokinetic theory is arguably the most important tool for numerical studies of transport physics in magnetized plasmas. However, exact local energy–momentum conservation laws for the electromagnetic gyrokinetic system have not been found despite continuous effort.Without such local conservation laws, energy and momentum can be instantaneously transported across spacetime, which is unphysical and casts doubt on the validity of numerical simulations based on the gyrokinetic theory. The standard Noether procedure for deriving conservation laws from corresponding symmetries does not apply to gyrokinetic systems because the gyrocenters and electromagnetic field reside on different manifolds. To overcome this difficulty,we develop a high-order field theory on heterogeneous manifolds for classical particle-field systems and apply it to derive exact, local conservation laws,in particular the energy–momentum conservation laws, for the electromagnetic gyrokinetic system.A weak Euler–Lagrange(EL)equation is established to replace the standard EL equation for the particles. It is discovered that an induced weak EL current enters the local conservation laws, and it is the new physics captured by the high-order field theory on heterogeneous manifolds.A recently developed gauge-symmetrization method for high-order electromagnetic field theories using the electromagnetic displacement-potential tensor is applied to render the derived energy–momentum conservation laws electromagnetic gauge-invariant.

文摘In heterogeneous network with hybrid energy supplies including green energy and on-grid energy, it is imperative to increase the utilization of green energy as well as to improve the utilities of users and networks. As the difference of hybrid energy source in stability and economy, thus, this paper focuses on the network with hybrid energy source, and design the utility of each user in the hybrid energy source system from the perspective of stability, economy and environment pollution. A dual power allocation algorithm based on Stackelberg game to maximize the utilities of users and networks is proposed. In addition, an iteration method is proposed which enables all players to reach the Stackelberg equilibrium(SE). Simulation results validate that players can reach the SE and the utilities of users and networks can be maximization, and the green energy can be efficiently used.

文摘The accurate determination of surface-layer turbulent fluxes over urban areas is critical to understanding urban boundary layer (UBL) evolution. The 3D LAS footprint modeling characterized the source areas of the LAS-derived turbulent fluxes in the heterogeneous urban area, revealing that the representative spatial scales of the LAS system deployed with the 2.1 km optical path distance ranged from 0.2 to 2 km2 (a "micro-a scale"), depending on local meteorological conditions.

文摘Cross-technology interference(CTI)from diverse wireless networks such as ZigBee,Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi has become a severe problem in the 2.4 GHz Industrial Scientific and Medical(ISM)band.Especially, low power and lossy networks are vulnerable to the signal interferences from other aggressive wireless networks when they perform low power operations to conserve the energy consumption. This paper presents CoSense, which accurately detects ZigBee signals with a reliable signal correlation scheme in the presence of the CTI.The key concept of CoSense is to reduce false wake-ups of low power listening(LPL)by identifying the pre-defined ZigBee signatures. Our scheme is robust in the coexistence environment of diverse wireless technologies since the signal correlation works well in bad wireless channel conditions. It achieves standard compliance and transparency without any hardware and firmware changes. We have implemented CoSense on the Universal Software Radio Peripheral(USRP)platform to verify its feasibility. The experimental exploration reveals that CoSense significantly reduces the false-positive and false-negative rate under typical setting and the additional overhead is negligible. The results show that our scheme saves much energy by up to 63%in dynamic network interference scenarios where low-power ZigBee transmissions are overwhelmed by strong Wi-Fi signal interferences.
文摘An improved LEACH for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is proposed. Additionally, Analysis demonstrates that the security of wireless sensor networks has been improved obviously even with some heterogeneous nodes.
