With the purpose of designing the extreme ultraviolet polarizer with many objectives,a combined application of multiobjective genetic algorithms is theoretically proposed.Owing to the multi-objective genetic algorithm,the relationships between different designing objectives of extreme ultraviolet polarizer have been obtained by analyzing the distribution of nondominated solutions in the four-dimensional objective space,and the optimized multilayer design can be obtained by guiding the searching in the desired region based on the multi-objective genetic algorithm with reference direction.Compared with the conventional method of multilayer design,our method has a higher probability of achieving the optimal multilayer design.Our work should be the first research in optimizing the optical multilayer designs in the high-dimensional objective space,and our results demonstrate a potential application of our method in the designs of optical thin films. 展开更多

Carbon/carbon(C/C)composites have been acknowledged as potential candidates in aerospace vehicles,but their oxygen sensitivity still remains an enormous challenge.In this work,a novel multilayer coating consisted of HfC-2.5 mol.%Hf_(6)Ta_(2)O_(17),HfC-40 mol.%SiC,HfC-2.5 mol.%Hf_(6)Ta_(2)O_(17) and HfC-60 mol.%SiC sublayers from surface to inside was designed and fabricated on the surface of C/C composites with sharp leading edge by plasma spraying.Its ablation resistance was assessed using oxyacetylene torch with a maximum temperature over 2300℃ and compared with monolayered coatings.The multilayer coating revealed preferable ablation retardation capacity evidenced by its integrated profile and less flaw quantity.Such benefits were primarily stemmed from the effective structural design and rational material selection.The former was able to reduce the thermal stress within the ablated scale,the latter contributed to rising the high-temperature resistance and oxygen barrier ability of the coating. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel design paradigm for circuits designed in quantum dot cellular automata (QCA) technology. Previously reported QCA circuits in the literature have generally been designed in a single layer which is the main logical block in which the inverter and majority gate are on the base layer, except for the parts where multilayer wire crossing was used. In this paper the concept of multilayer wire crossing has been extended to design logic gates in multilayers. Using a 5-input majority gate in a multilayer, a 1-bit and 2-bit adder have been designed in the proposed multilayer gate design paradigm. A comparison has been made with some adders reported previously in the literature and it has been shown that circuits designed in the proposed design paradigm are much more efficient in terms of area, the requirement of QCA cells in the design and the input-output delay of the circuit. Over all, the availability of one additional spatial dimension makes the design process much more flexible and there is scope for the customizability of logic gate designs to make the circuit compact. 展开更多

To solve the issue of the contradiction between photovoltaic power generation and plant photosynthesis for sunlight demand, we propose a design method of multi-passband polymer multilayer optical structure. Using polycarbonate(PC) and polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA), two polymer materials with different refractive indices, the passband position and passband bandwidth are calculated and adjusted by the transmission matrix method and TFCalc software. A 450 nm,660 nm, and 730 nm three-passband filter was realized by superimposing stacks of different band positions. The feasibility of the photovoltaic agriculture was confirmed by the power generation efficiency and the actual plant growth. 展开更多

Solid-state electrolytes(SSEs)can address the safety issue of organic electrolyte in rechargeable lithium batteries.Unfortunately,neither polymer nor ceramic SSEs used alone can meet the demand although great progress has been made in the past few years.Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)composed of flexible polymers and brittle but more conducting ceramics can take advantage of the individual system for solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).CSEs can be largely divided into two categories by the mass fraction of the components:“polymer rich”(PR)and“ceramic rich”(CR)systems with different internal structures and electrochemical properties.This review provides a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of recent advances and limitations of both PR and CR electrolytes,with a special focus on the ion conduction path based on polymer-ceramic interaction mechanisms and structural designs of ceramic fillers/frameworks.In addition,it highlights the PR and CR which bring the leverage between the electrochemical property and the mechanical property.Moreover,it further prospects the possible route for future development of CSEs according to their rational design,which is expected to accelerate the practical application of SSLMBs. 展开更多
