Using the dimensionality-reduction technique of Ott and Antonsen, we explore different types of synchronization dynamics when the incoherent state becomes unstable. We find that the inter-population coupling is crucial to the synchronization. When the intra-population interaction is repulsive, the local synchronization can still be maintained through the inter-population coupling. For attractive inter-population coupling, the local order parameters in different populations are of in-phase while the local synchronization are of anti-phase for repulsive inter-population coupling.展开更多

Detailed examination of the whole intestinal tract is very important for patients with colorectal cancer, which could prevent patients from receiving repeat treatment to a great extent. We present a case report of a patient with synchronous primary colorectal cancer. Because pre-or intra-operative examination is not sufficient at his first consultation, the patient had undergone multiple operations after receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy and intestinal stent insertion, which results in peritoneal adhesions formation. The preoperative placement of prophylactic ureteral catheters facilitated recognition of ureters in operation that assure the prevention of ureteral injuries. If not aware of the importance of detailed preoperative examination and standardized treatment can lead to wrong treatment as in this case. Prophylactic ureteral catheters might assist in their immediate recognition.展开更多

Here we present two cases with this presentation. They are both middle-aged women, with stage I invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. One patient happened to have primary breast lymphoma (PBL); the other was secondary breast lymphoma (SBL). Their pathology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) findings supported the diagnosis of multiple primary carcinoma. Both patients had a surgery. Then they both received CHOP regime chemotherapy and subsequent endocrine therapy.展开更多

The performance of such systems is affected by the phase noise of the microwave local oscillator. The phase noise model of synthesizer and the RF transceiver model for the phase noise effect are proposed for applications of TD-SCDMA systems. The relationship between the power spectral density (PSD) and root mean square (RMS) phase error is given. Then, the error vector magnitude (EVM) performance is analytically evaluated by using the single side band (SSB) phase noise. Theoretical results show agreement with those obtained by measurement data and therefore can be used to derive the TD-SCDMA system performance.展开更多

This paper presents a method to generate a (2L ,2M ,Zc' z )-ZCZsequence family from an original (L ,M ,Z cz)-ZCZsequence family, where Z c' z =Zcz if Z czis even and Z c' z = Zcz 1if Z czis odd. This method can also recursively act on a ZCZ sequence family to construct a series of ZCZ sequence families with large sequence number and zero correlation zone length identical to or one less than that of original ZCZ sequences.展开更多

The authors describe a case of a 77-year-old female patient with diagnosis in September 2009 of colon mucinous adenocarcinoma. She was submitted to surgery, considered R1 and adjuvant chemotherapy. Six months after treatment she had abdominal recurrence on a nodular lesion in peritoneal fat. The patient was submitted to surgery and did multiple courses of systemic treatment. She underwent cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic chemotherapy, too. In December 2014 she presented a nodular lesion on the bladder and after excision, the histology confirmed a high-grade transitional cell carcinoma and she maintains treatment with endovesical BCG instillations. After that, she had no evidence of peritoneal disease progression. Besides the bad prognosis associated to peritoneal disease, our case report describes a long survival (5 years with no disease progression) in a patient with high risk at diagnosis to peritoneal recurrence. This case shows the importance of multimodal approach and the impact of locoregional treatment in localized metastatic disease.展开更多

Regenerative medicine strategies in- clude the transplantation of bioactive factors, stem cells, or biomaterials, even the induced regeneration in a de novo, depending on the application (Fu, 2014a; Huang and Fu, 2014). However, there are several limitations to the use of regenerative medicine in the clinic with respect to using stem cells and biomaterials.展开更多
