The main purpose of the present research is to study geological issues of urban areas in Bagh-e Malek in Khuzestan province of Iran and improving the municipal environment. The present research is an applied study in sake of nature and a descriptive-analytical survey in sake of method. Library and field method has been used in data collection. In field study, 325 citizens in Bagh-e Malek in 2015 were selected as sample group via sampling method well suited to sample size using questionnaire of citizens’ participation. Software SPSS and Excel are used to analyze data. Friedman test has been used to determine rank of each of selected indices for testing hypotheses and finding research. Results from Friedman test indicate that satisfaction with pedestrian passages has the highest mean with rank (9.90) and awareness from municipality’s rights has the lowest mean with rank (2.95). 展开更多

In this paper,authors have discussed predominately unidirectional Fluid Structure Interaction,i. e. a given field in which a high speed/pressure and high temperature thermal flow affect the interface between pipelines joints. Surface forces at the fluid-structure interface allow designers to investigate the effects of fluid flow on the structural deformation and stresses. Possible failure modes have been compared with different loads from steady thermal flow analysis results. CFD code SC/Tetra and FEA code ANSYS are used in this study. These studies can be used in protecting certain fatigue failures for pipeline joints under critical cyclic load conditions from both thermal expansion and hydraulic pressure in municipal and environmental engineering applications as well as oil and gas fields. 展开更多

Environment and economic feasibility of municipal solid waste central sorting strategy: a case study in Beijing 被引量:1

Although Beijing has carried out municipal solid waste (MSW) source separation since 1996, it has largely been ineffective. In 2012, a "Green House" program was established as a new attempt for central sorting. In this study, the authors used material flow analysis (MFA) and cost benefit analysis (CBA) methods to investigate Green House's environment and economic feasibility. Results showed that the program did have significant environmental benefits on waste reduction, which reduced the amount of waste by 34%. If the Green House program is implemented in a residential community with wet waste ratio of 66%, the proportion of waste reduction can reach 37%. However, the Green House is now running with a monthly loss of 1982 CNY. This is mainly because most of its benefits come from waste reduction (i.e., 5878 CNY per month), which does not turn a monetary benefit, but is instead distributed to the whole of society as positive environmental externalities. Lack of government involvement, small program scale, and technical/managerial deficiency are three main barriers of the Green House. We, thus, make three recommendations: involve government authority and financial support, expand the program scale to separate 91.4 tons of waste every month, and use more professional equipment/technologies. If the Green House program can successfully adopt these suggestions, 33.8 tons of waste can be reduced monthly, and it would be able to flip the loss into a profit worth 35034 CNY. 展开更多

Water resource shortage and pollution has seriously threatened the survival and development of developing countries.Because of China’s specific economical and social circumstances,complete adoption of developed countries’experience is unrealistic.At present,China needs to develop strategies and technologies in source water pollution control and municipal environmental remediation that embrace the country’s specific need to battle the water resource problem.Among them,efficient source water pretreatment is a critical step to ensure a safe municipal water supply.Unlike developed countries,it is not yet feasible in China to treat water supplied to the household and have it meet the standard of direct drinking;therefore,it is more appropriate to refer to it as service water.As a beneficial supplement,an additional community drinking water network and household drinking water apparatus can be considered. 展开更多
