Several characterization and electrochemical techniques were used to characterize the different Ni–P coatings’ morphologies, phase structures, elemental compositions, and corrosion protection. The gradient coating showed good adhesion and high corrosion and wear resistance, enabling the application of aluminum alloy in harsh environments. The results showed that the double zinc immersion was vital in obtaining excellent adhesion (81.2 N). The optimal coating was not peeled and shredded even after bending tests with angles higher than 90°and was not corroded visually after 500 h of neutral salt spray test at 35℃. The high corrosion resistance was attributed to the misaligning of these micro defects in the three different nickel alloy layers and the amorphous structure of the high P content in the outer layer. These findings guide the exploration of functional gradient coatings that meet the high application requirement of aluminum alloy parts in complicated and harsh aviation environments.展开更多

In this study, we prepared super-hydrophobic nano-ceramic coated glass based on titania & silica using simple sol-gel & dip coating methods and studied the best composition of the coatings by altering ratios of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP)/tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) with different homogenizing agents. We characterized the coatings by surface roughness measurement, percentage of optical transmission, static contact angle, near-infrared (NIR) transmission, and diffuse reflectance. The fabrication of coatings on glass substrates played an important role in increasing the water contact angle of about 95° and visible & NIR transmission of about 90%. We compared our modified glass substrate with commercial low emissivity (Low E) glass using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, which showed pure amorphous surface claiming excellent wettability and thus the prepared glass substrate could have a variety of applications in different fields.展开更多

The oxidation test was performed at 1050℃ for 5, 50, 100,150, 200, and 400 h. The microstructure and phase composition of powders and coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The bonding strength of the coatings was also evaluated. The results proved that with the increase in the percentage of nanoparticles(from 2wt% to 6wt%), the amount of porosity(from 1vol% to 4.7vol%), unmelted particles, and roughness of the coatings(from 4.8 to 8.8 μm) increased, and the bonding strength decreased from 71 to 48 MPa. The thicknesses of the thermally grown oxide layer of pure and composite coatings(2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt%) after 400 h oxidation were measured as 6.5, 5.5, 7.6, and 8.1 μm, respectively. The CoNiCrAlY–2wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating showed the highest oxidation resistance due to the diffusion barrier effect of well-dispersed nanoparticles. The CoNiCrAlY–6wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating had the lowest oxidation resistance due to its rough surface morphology and porous microstructure.展开更多

A scalable double-layer coating with a mixture of TiO_(2), SiO_(2), and Si_(3)N_(4)micron particles for radiative cooling is proposed in this study. The finite-difference time-domain algorithm is used to analyze the influence of particle size and coating thickness on radiative cooling performance. The results of the simulation show that the particle size of 3 μm can give the best cooling performance, and the coating thickness should be above 25 μm for SiO_(2)coating. Meanwhile, the mixture of SiO_(2)and Si_(3)N_(4)significantly improves the overall emissivity. Through sample preparation and characterization, the mixture coating with a 1:1 ratio addition on an Al substrate exhibits high reflectivity with a value of 87.6% in the solar spectrum, and an average emissivity of 92% in the infrared region(2.5 μm–15 μm), which can be attributed to the synergy among the optical properties of the material. Both coatings can theoretically be cooled by about 8℃ during the day and about 21℃ at nighttime with hc = 4 W·m^(-2)·K^(-1). Furthermore, even considering the significant conduction and convection exchanges, the cooling effect persists. Outdoor experimental results show that the temperature of the double-layer radiative cooling coating is always lower than the ambient temperature under direct sunlight during the day, and can be cooled by about 5℃ on average, while lower than the temperature of the aluminum film by almost 12℃.展开更多

文摘The A_(2)B_(2)O_(7)-type rare earth zirconate compounds have been considered as promising candidates for thermal barrier coating(TBC) materials because of their low sintering rate, improved phase stability, and reduced thermal conductivity in contrast with the currently used yttria-partially stabilized zirconia (YSZ) in high operating temperature environments. This review summarizes the recent progress on rare earth zirconates for TBCs that insulate high-temperature gas from hot-section components in gas turbines.Based on the first principles, molecular dynamics, and new data-driven calculation approaches, doping and high-entropy strategies have now been adopted in advanced TBC materials design. In this paper, the solid-state heat transfer mechanism of TBCs is explained from two aspects, including heat conduction over the full operating temperature range and thermal radiation at medium and high temperature. This paper also provides new insights into design considerations of adaptive TBC materials, and the challenges and potential breakthroughs are further highlighted for extreme environmental applications.Strategies for improving thermophysical performance are proposed in two approaches:defect engineering and material compositing.

文摘Aero engine seal coatings can effectively improve the air tightness of aircraft engines and increase fuel efficiency. However, due to the frictional forces between the blades and the coating, the coating often flakes off, resulting in damage to the blades and causing eco-nomic losses. Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the friction between the blades and the coating. In this paper, three ceramic-based high-temperature seal coatings with different polyphenylene ester contents and a pure Yttria-stabilised zirconia coating were prepared by atmo-spheric plasma spraying(APS).The hardness and modulus of elasticity of the coated surfaces were obtained by hardness and modulus of elasticity tests, and the coatings were subjected to high-speed touch abrasion tests. The Hertzian contact model was used to calculate the maximum normal contact load on the coating during the process. The test values were compared with the theoretical values and it was found that the calculated values were always greater than the test values. In order to make the Hertzian contact model more accurate in calculating the touching and abrasion forces, the contact coefficients in the Hertzian contact model were optimized.Substituting the optimized coeffi-cients into the Hertzian contact model, the results show that the calculated results after optimizing the coefficients are much closer to the test values, with deviations from the test values ranging from 1%to 38%.
文摘This paper concentrates on the development of glasses with self-cleaning surfaces exhibiting high water contact angles. We compared our modified glass substrate with commercial low emissivity (Low E) glass using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, which showed pure amorphous surface claiming excellent wettability and thus the prepared glass substrate could have a variety of applications in different fields.

文摘In this article,NiCr coatings with chromium content of 13%,27%and 41%were prepared by arc spraying. They were exposed in molten salts(NaCl-Na_(2)SO_(4))at 800℃for 200 hours. The effect of chromium content on the hot corrosion behavior of the coatings was in-vestigated.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope with energy dispersion spectrum(SEM-EDS)were used to analyze the phase compositions, morphologies and chemical compositions of the coatings. The results show that NiCr13 coating exhibited the worst hot corrosion resistance due to the low chromium content, which resulted in NiO being the major reaction product. It should be noted that the hot corrosion resistance of NiCr27 coating was better than that of NiCr41 coating. The basic fluxing of Cr_(2)O_(3) lowered its protection during the hot corrosion process and led to the formation of porous Cr_(2)O_(3) on the NiCr41 coating. The molten salts accelerated the oxidation reac-tion resulting in thicker and porous oxide scales formed on the surfaces of coatings.

文摘Mg alloys are considered the most promising engineering materials because of their unique properties. However, the uncontrolled corrosion rate of these alloys limits their applications. Therefore,in this study,a micro-arc oxidation layer was used as a transition layer to“directly”grow a zinc-based metal-organic framework(MOF)composite coating on the surface of a Mg alloy(AZ91D).Herein,the two zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF-8)coatings with different morphologies were separately prepared by homologous metal oxide induction and a one-step in-situ growth method. The superhydrophobic composite coating showed strong hydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties, which could prevent the penetration of water and corrosive ions(Cl^(−))into the surface of AZ91D.Electrochemical tests demonstrated that the super-hydrophobic composite coatings greatly enhanced the corrosion resistance of AZ91D,and the corrosion current density decreased from 10^(−5)to 10^(−9)A/cm^(2).These results indicate that the ZIF-8 coatings are beneficial for improving the hydrophobicity and enhancing the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys. Therefore,MOF composite coatings provide a new strategy that can be used to prepare multifunctional anticorrosion coatings on metal substrates.

文摘The properties of dry-coated paracetamol particles(fast-dissolving model drug)with carnauba wax particles as the coating agent(dissolution retardant)were investigated.Raman mapping technique was used to non-destructively examine the thickness and homogeneity of coated particles. The results showed that the wax existed in two forms on the surface of the paracetamol particles, forming a porous coating layer:i)whole wax particles on the surface of paracetamol and glued together with other wax surface particles, and ii)deformed wax particles spread on the surface.Regardless of the final particle size fraction(between 100 and 800 mm),the coating thickness had high variability, with average thickness of 5.9±4.2 mm.The ability of carnauba wax to decrease the dissolution rate of paracetamol was confirmed by dissolution of powder and tablet formulations. The dissolution was slower for larger coated particles.Tableting further reduced the dissolution rate, clearly indicating the impact of subsequent formulation processes on the final quality of the product.
文摘Satellited CoNiCrAlY–Al_(2)O_(3)feedstocks with 2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt% oxide nanoparticles and pure CoNiCrAlY powder were deposited by the high-velocity oxy fuel process on an Inconel738 superalloy substrate. The CoNiCrAlY–6wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating had the lowest oxidation resistance due to its rough surface morphology and porous microstructure.
文摘The paper explores the possibilities of using carbonyl iron in the form of a powder for the manufacture of radar-absorbing paints-reducing the radar signature of the objects that they cover. The attenuation values in the range of 4-18 GHz for various coating thicknesses, ranging from 0.5 to 2.00 mm with 0.5 mm increment, and for different absorber content-75%and 80%,as well as the use of two different binders in the form of epoxy resins with hardeners, were investigated. For the frequency of 18 GHz and a 1.5 mm thick coating with a 75%absorber content,Epidian 112 resin and Saduramid 10/50 hardener used as a binder, and the maximum attenuation level obtained equalled 20.2 d B at 16 GHz.Additionally, the absorber particle size ranging from 3 to 4μm and its higher mass content resulted in achieving the reflection loss above-12 d B in the entire 8-12.5 GHz range for layers between 1-and 1.5 mm thickness. The qualitative assessment of the tested samples in the context of camouflage in the radar range was also performed, using statistical analysis.

文摘Preparing polymeric coatings with well corrosion resistance and high thermal conductivity(TC)to prolong operational life and ensure service reliability of heat conductive metallic materials has long been a substantive and urgent need while a difficult task. Here we report a multifunctional epoxy composite coating(F-CB/CEP)by synthesizing cerium methacrylate and ingeniously using it as a novel curing agent with corrosion inhibit for epoxy resin and modifier for boron nitride through"cation-π"interaction.The prepared F-CB/CEP coating presents a high TC of 4.29 W m^(−1)K^(−1),which is much higher than other reported anti-corrosion polymer coatings and thereby endowing metal materials coated by this coating with outstanding thermal management performance compared with those coated by pure epoxy coating.Meanwhile, the low-frequency impedance remains at 5.1×10^(11)Ωcm^(2)even after 181 days of immersion in 3.5 wt%NaCl solution.Besides, the coating also exhibits well hydrophobicity,self-cleaning properties, temperature resistance and adhesion. This work provides valuable insights for the preparation of high-performance composite coatings with potential to be used as advanced multifunctional thermal management materials, especially for heat conduction metals protection.
文摘Passive daytime radiative cooling is achieved by radiating heat into outer space through electromagnetic waves without energy consumption. Outdoor experimental results show that the temperature of the double-layer radiative cooling coating is always lower than the ambient temperature under direct sunlight during the day, and can be cooled by about 5℃ on average, while lower than the temperature of the aluminum film by almost 12℃.
