Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have attracted increasing attention in the past decades, because of high over-all abundance of precursors, their even geographical distribution, and low cost. Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP), atypical sodium super ion conductor (NASlCON)-based electrode material, exhibits pronounced structuralstability, exceptionally high ion conductivity, rendering it a most promising electrode for sodium storage.However. the comparatively low electronic conductivity makes the theoretical capacity of NVP cannot befully accessible even at comparatively low rates, presenting a major drawback for further practical ap-plications, especially when high rate capability is especially important. Thus, many endeavors have beenconformed to increase the surface and intrinsic electrical conductivity of NVP by coating the active mate-rials with a conductive carbon layer, downsizing the NVP particles, combining the NVP particle with vari-ous carbon materials and ion doping strategy. In this review, to get a better understanding on the sodiumstorage in NVP, we firstly present 4 distinct crystal structures in the temperature range of-30℃-225℃ namely α-NVP, β-NVP, β′-NVP and γ-NVP. Moreover, we give an overview of recent approaches to en-hance the surface electrical conductivity and intrinsic electrical conductivity of NVP. Finally, some poten-tial applications of NVP such as in all-climate environment and PHEV, EV fields have been prospected. 展开更多

We propose a network-attached storage system that can support guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS), called POPNet Storage. The special policy of date access and disk scheduling is enable users to access files quickly and directly with guaranteed QoS in the POPNet Storage. The POPNet Storage implements a measurement-based admission control algorithm (PSMBAC) to determine whether to admit a new data access request stream and admit as many requests as possible while meeting the QoS guarantees to its clients. The data reconstruction algorithms in the POPNet Storage also put more emphasis on data availability and guaranteed QoS, thus it is designed to complete the data recovery as soon as possible and at the same time provide the guaranteed QoS for high-priority data access. The experiment results show that the POPNet Storage can provide more significant performance, reliability, and guaranteed QoS than conventional storage systems. 展开更多

With the digital information and application requirement on the Internet increasing fleetly nowadays,it is urgent to work out a network storage system with a large capacity,a high availability and scalability.To solve the above-mentioned issues,a NAS-based storage network(for short NASSN)has been designed.Firstly,the NASSN integrates multi-NAS,iNAS(an iSCSI-based NAS)and enterprise SAN with the help of storage virtualization,which can provide a greater capacity and better scalability.Secondly,the NASSN can provide high availability with the help of server and storage subsystem redundancy technologies.Thirdly,the NASSN simultaneously serves for both the file I/O and the block I/O with the help of an iSCSI module,which has the advantages of NAS and SAN.Finally,the NASSN can provide higher I/O speed by a high network-attached channel which implements the direct data transfer between the storage device and client.In the experiments,the NASSN has ultra-high-throughput for both of the file I/O requests and the block I/O requests. 展开更多

A multi-user view file system (MUVFS) and a security scheme are developed to improve the security of the united storage network (USN) that integrates a network attached storage (NAS) and a storage area network (SAN). The MUVFS offers a storage volume view for each authorized user who can access only the data in his own storage volume, the security scheme enables all users to encrypt and decrypt the data of their own storage view at client-side, and the USN server needs only to check the users’ identities and the data’s integrity. Experiments were performed to compare the sequential read, write and read/write rates of NFS+MUVFS+secure_module with those of NFS. The results indicate that the security of the USN is improved greatly with little influence on the system performance when the MUVFS and the security scheme are integrated into it. 展开更多

The high-temperature β-phase NaMnO2 is a promising material for Na-ion batteries(NIBs) due to its high capacity and abundant resources. However, the synthesis of phase-pure -NaMnO2 is burdensome and costineffective because it needs to be sintered under oxygen atmosphere at high temperature and followed by a quenching procedure. Here we first report that the pure β phase can be stabilized by Cu-doping and easily synthesized by replacing a proportion of Mn with Cu via a simplified process including sintering in air and cooling to room temperature naturally. Based on the first-principle calculations, the band gap decreases from 0.7 eV to 0.3 eV, which indicates that the electronic conductivity can be improved by Cu-doping. The designed -NaCu(0.1)Mn(0.9)O2 is applied as cathode in NIBs, exhibiting an energy density of 419 Wh/kg and better performance in terms of rate capability and cycling stability than those in the undoped case. 展开更多

The effects of PLA concentration, stirring speed, injection rate of core and shell solutions, and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) concentration on phase change properties were investigated. The thermal properties of microP CMs were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The capsules prepared under the optimal conditions are about 2 mm in diameter and show a latent heat of up to 122.2 J·g^(-1). 展开更多

In this paper, we introduced a novel storage architecture 'Unified Storage Network', which merges NAC( Network Attached Channel) and SAN( Storage Area Network) , and provides the file I/O services as NAS devices and provides the block I/O services as SAN. To overcome the drawbacks from FC, we employ iSCSI to implement the USN( Unified Storage Network) . To evaluate whether iSCSI is more suitable for implementing the USN, we analyze iSCSI protocol and compare it with FC protocol from several components of a network protocol which impact the performance of the network. From the analysis and comparison, we can conclude that the iSCSI is more suitable for implementing the storage network than the FC under condition of the wide-area network. A Fe modified Na2WO4 compound was synthesized by a solution impregnation method and was ball-milled with MgH2 to constitute a novel MgH2-Fe2O3/Na2WO4 composite. The effects of the Fe2O3/Na2WO4 additive on the hydrogen storage properties of MgH2 together with the corresponding mechanism were investigated. At 423 K, within the first 200 seconds, the hydrogen absorption amount of MgH2+20 wt% Fe2O3/Na2WO4 was almost 5 times that of pure MgH2. And at 573 K, its total hydrogen desorption amount was 7 times that for pure MgH2. Meanwhile, its onset dehydrogenation temperature was 110 K lower than that of pure MgH2. It was worth noting that the MgH2+20 wt% Fe/Na2WO4 presented the lower dehydrogenation reaction activation energy(Ea) of 35.9 kJ·mol^-1 compared to that of pure MgH2. The active MgWO4, Mg2 FeH6 and MgO formed during the milling process were responsible for the improvement of the hydrogen storage properties for MgH2. 展开更多

Although it has been proven that porous,heteroatomic,and defective structures improve Na storage performance,they also severely affect the initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)due to the huge irreversible capacity in the first cycle,which always limits the practical application of carbon anodes in commercial Na-ion batteries(NIBs).Here,we show the successful synthesis of nanocrystalline cellulose and the derivative hard carbons.A series of treatments including acid hydrolysis,hydrothermal carbonization,and hightemperature pyrolysis help tune the pores,heteroatoms,and defects to achieve an optimized balance between superior ICE and reversible capacity of up to 90.4%and 314 mAh g^(−1).This study highlights that tailoring the electrode microstructure could be an important strategy in the future design of carbonaceous anode materials for high-performance Na-ion batteries. 展开更多

The most stable isomers of NanBm (m + n = 6) clusters and their hydrogen storage properties are investigated by means of density functional theory with a 6-311+G(d) basis set. To study the hydrogen storage properties, all of the stable structures of NanBmHx (m + n =6) clusters have been optimized. It shows that boron atoms of NanBm are separated from the other boron atoms, and form satellite BHx (x = 3, 4) clusters around the centre, which attach to the system by a bridging bond of a hydrogen atom or an Na atom. Compared with the hydrogen storage capabilities, the Na3B3 has the highest hydrogen storage capacity among NanBm clusters. The binding energies, interaction energies of hydrogen atom with NanBm clusters and second difference in energy of Na3B3Hx clusters have been calculated. The results show that the stability of the NanBmHx clusters present an odd-even oscillatory effect, as the number of H atoms increases. 展开更多
