Sociodemographic information was also collected. Data were analyzed via the Spearman rank correlation test and stepwise regression.RESULTS: The personality and coping variables are predictive and jointly account for a significant amount (45.3%-54.2%) of variance across the two subscales of anxiety measures. Notably, neuroticism seems to be most closely related to anxiety disturbances in glaucoma patients. The level of resignation is positively linked to anxiety scores.CONCLUSION: Some personality factors and coping modes help to predict the process of anxiety disorders in primary glaucoma patients. Recognizing the predictive role of these variables in the patients may further enrich clinical research in glaucoma and help to design more effective interventions involving both ophthalmology and psychiatry.展开更多

The children were performed with Eysenck Personality Questionnaire before operation (children edition). Children were divided into the emotion group (group I) and stable group (group II). The operation was performed under sevoflurance inhalation anesthesia. Patients in DI and DII groups were given 1 μg/kg DEX, MI and MII groups were given 0.05 mg/kg midazolam, for 15 min. MAP and HR one day before operation (T0), before anesthesia induction (T1), 1 min after pneumoperitoneum establishment (T2), the time after pulling out the laryngeal mask (T3), and the time after shifting from the recovery room (T4) were recorded. A volume of 6 mL venous blood 1 d before operation and 4 h after operation was collected. Blood sugar concentration, cortisol and IL-6 levels were detected. Results:MAP at T1, T2, T3, and T4 in DI and MI groups were significantly elevated when compared with at T0. MAP at T2 and T3 in DII group was significantly elevated when compared with at T0. MAP at T2, T3, and T4 in MII group was significantly elevated when compared with at T0. When compared with DI group, MAP at T1, T2, and T3 in DII group was significantly reduced;MAP at T2, T3, and T4 in MI group was significantly elevated;MAP at T1 in MII group was significantly reduced. When compared with DII group, MAP at T2, T3, and T4 in MI and MII groups was significantly elevated. HR at T1, T2, T3, and T4 was significantly elevated when compared with at T0. When compared with DI group, HR at T1, T2, and T3 in DII group was significantly reduced;HR at each timing point in MI group was significantly elevated;HR at T1 in MII group was significantly reduced, while at T2, T3, and T4 was significantly elevated. When compared with DII group, HR at each timing point in MI group was significantly elevated;HR at T2, T3, and T4 in MII group was significantly elevated. Except for DII group, the blood sugar, cortisol, and IL-6 levels were significantly elevated when compared with before operation. When compared with D1 group, the blood sugar and cortisol levels at T1 in DII group were significantly reduced;the blood sugar, cortisol, and IL-6 levels at T1 in MI and MII groups were significantly elevated. When compared with DII group, the blood sugar, cortisol, and IL-6 levels at T1 in MI and MII groups were significantly elevated. Conclusions:Application of hydrochloric DEX in sevoflurance anesthesia in children can effectively inhibit the excitability of sympathetic nervous system caused by operation, alleviate the stress reaction, and maintain the stability of hemodynamics, which is benefit for the postoperative rehabilitation.展开更多

The population was high schoolboys and girls in Damghan city in Iran. Participants were randomly selected using a multi-stage cluster method (513 boys and girls) and they simultaneously completed three questionnaires: academic engagement, the psycho-social climate of the classroom and personality characteristics. Path analysis was used to analyze data. The results showed that the direct effects of personality characteristics and psycho-social climate of the classroom on academic achievement were not significant. The direct effects of openness, conscientiousness and psycho-social climate of classroom on academic engagement were significant. The indirect effects (with mediation of academic engagement) and overall effects of openness, conscientiousness and psycho-social climate of classroom on academic achievement were significant, also the effect of academic engagement on academic achievement was significant.展开更多

The effect of self-esteem, narcissism, loneliness, shyness and boredom proneness on Facebook usage was also investigated. The sample included both student (N = 190) and (N = 184) non-student samples. Narcissism was the strongest predictor of time spent on Facebook per day for both students and non-students. Narcissism was also the strongest predictor of number of daily logins for non-students, however, agreeableness was the strongest predictor of logins for students. Extraversion was the strongest predictor of number of Facebook friends for both students and non- students, however the interaction of Extraversion and Neuroticism was also a predictor of Facebook friends for students, and the interaction of Extraversion and Conscientiousness for non-students. Future research should consider the combined effect of personality traits on overall Facebook use.展开更多

The population was the students of the Faculty of Humanities in 2009 with 3000 which 196 were selected using Kerjeci & Morgan table and stratified sampling method. They answered to the NEO and GHQ questionnaires. Results showed that there was relationship between personality characteristic of neurotic, openness, extraversion and being conscionable with mental health. Meanwhile, openness had the highest and extraversion with the lowest correlation scale and most of students (65%) had low mental health. Also, there were no significant differences among students with respect to different courses but significant difference with respect to gender and age.展开更多

The fact that personality has a distinguishing feature among individuals explains different behaviors of individuals against events and situations. This arises from the fact that personality is specific to individual and is affected by the effects of many factors with which it interacts, and from the integration of them. In this context, this research is based on the hypothesis that there is a relationship between vocs.tionai school students' demographic features including their family, socio-culture, geographical environments (gender, age, department, grade, parental education, number of siblings, birth order in the family, and the family's income levels), and the personality profiles. The research was carded out as part of five-factor model of personality in an attempt to determine whether vocational school students' personality profiles vary according to demographic variables and to reveal the relationship between them. The research sample consisted of 220 students selected from the students studying in Altmta~ Vocational School in the Spring Term of the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Data were analyzed via SPSS 15.0 statistical package program by performing t-test, analysis of variance and logistic regression analysis. While a significant difference was found between students' five-factor personality profiles according to gender, age, department, average, father's education, and the number of siblings, no significant difference was found among grade, mother's education, birth order in the family, and income levels. Moreover, independent variables affecting students' academic averages were determined as a result of the logistic regression analysis.展开更多

In this paper, we conducted a brake operation experiment with five young people, and aimed to create an evaluation index and an experimental method that can extract the characteristics of emergency brake operation from pedaling force and lower limb movement. The results showed that in order to operate the brakes strongly and quickly, the knee was firmly flection, and then the pedaling force was increased when the knee was extended. Furthermore, it was shown that if the brakes were operated without moving the ankle joint, the operation would be quicker.展开更多

METHODS: The subjects were 80 persons (40 male and 40 females, age range: 17 to approximately 25 years) with acceptable faces and individual normal occlusions. The subjects were asked to take maximum smiling position to accept photographic measurement with computer-aided analysis. RESULTS: The maximum smile line could be divided into 3 categories: low smile line (16.25%), average smile line (68.75%), and high smile line (15%). CONCLUSION: The method adopting maximum smiling position to study the lip-month region is reproducible and comparable. This study would be helpful to provide a quantitative reference for clinical investigation, diagnosis, treatment and efficacy appraisal.展开更多
