T...Ni-W-P-CeO2-SiO2 nano-composite coatings were prepared on common carbon steel surface by pulse electrodeposition of nickel, tungsten, phosphorus, rare earth (nano-CeO2) and silicon carbide (nano-SiO2) particles. The effects of nano-CeO2 concentrations in electrolyte on microstructures and properties of nano-composite coatings were studied. The samples were characterized with chemical compositions, elements distributions, microhardness and microstructures. The results indicated that when nano-CeO2 concentration was controlled at 10 g/L, the nano-composite coatings possessed higher microhardness and compact microstmctures with clear outline of spherical matrix metal crystallites, fine crystallite sizes and uniform distribution of elements W, P, Ce and Si within the Ni-W-P matrix metal. Increasing the nano-CeO2 particles concentrations from 4 to 10 g/L led to refinement in grain structure and improvement of microstructures, while when increased to 14 g/L, the crystallite sizes began to increase again and there were a lot of small boss with nodulation shape appearing on the nano-composite coatings surface.展开更多

It was used to test the micro mechanical properties, such as hardness, elastic modulus and indentation creep property of n-Al2O3/Ni composite coating on steel prepared by brush plating, and the variety of mechanical properties with coating thickness was researched. The results show that the mechanical properties are basically identical within the whole coating, the hardness and modulus decrease in the defect fields, especially within the dendritic crystals, whereas the mechanical properties are not influenced greatly at the interspaces among dendritic crystals. The average hardness and elastic modulus of n-Al2O3/Ni coating are 6.34 GPa and 154 GPa respectively, and the hardness is 2.4 times higher than that of steel and the indentation creep curve of n-Al2O3/Ni coating is similar to that of the uniaxial compression creep, and the creep rate of steady-state is about 0. 104 nm/s. These results will supply useful data for process improvement, new type material development and application expansion.展开更多

For comparison, Ni-Al2O3 nano-composite coatings were prepared by conventional electro-plating (CEP) under experimental conditions. Effects of process parameters, such as nano-Al2O3 concentration in plating solution, current density, stirring rate, and bath temperature, on nano-Al2O3 content in composite coatings were investigated. The distribution of elements in deposit, and the bonding strength between coating and substrate was analyzed by electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) and auto-scratch apparatus, respectively. It is found that the nano-Al2O3 concentration in plating solution, current density and stirring rate are three main factors affecting the particles content in deposit, and played a key role in the formation of composite coatings. The nano-Al2O3 content in composite coatings increased with increasing of nano-Al2O3 concentration in plating solution, current density and stirring rate to reach a maximum value, and then reduced slightly. The contents of nano-Al2O3 particles in composite coatings by the SCD technique were higher than that by the CEP technique. The co-deposited nano-Al2O3 particles embedded uniformly in the Ni matrix. The coating was well adhesion with substrate. It is demonstrated that the SCD technique is an efficient approach for improving the nano-Al2O3 content in Ni-Al2O3 composite coatings.展开更多

The processing includes dipping samples in a sol-gel solution dispersed with fine cer...Al2O3-Y2O3 nano- and micro-composite coatings were deposited on Fe-9Cr-Mo substrates by using sol-gel composite coating technology. The processing includes dipping samples in a sol-gel solution dispersed with fine ceramic powders, which are prepared by high-energy ball milling. High-resolution microscopy (FE-SEM) analyses show that the coating is composed of composite particle clusters with an average diameter of 1μm, and the coating is relatively dense without cracking during drying and sintering stages. XRD analyses show that the oxide coating is mainly composed of α-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3. The oxidation tests performed at 600℃ in air show that the coatings are provided with much improved resistance against high temperature oxidation and scale spallation. It is indicated that nano-structured composite particles and reactive elements are integrated into the coatings, which plays an important role in preventing agglomeration of nano-particles and initiation of cracks.展开更多

The Ni-Co was used as the metal matrix,and nano-Al2O3 was chosen as the second-phase particulates. To avoid poor inter-face bonding and stress distribution,the gradient structure of biology materials was found as the model and therefore the gradient composite coating was prepared. The morphology of the composite coatings was flatter and the microstructure was denser than that of pure Ni-Co coatings. The composite coatings were prepared by different current densities,and the 2-D and 3-D morphologies of the surface coatings were observed. The result indicated that the 2-D structure became rougher and the 3-D surface density of apices became less when the current density was increased. The content of nanoparticulates reached a maximum value at the current density of 40mA·cm^-2,at the same time the properties including microhardness and wear-resistance were analyzed. The microhardness reached a maximum value and the wear volume was also less at the current density of 40mA·cm^-2. The reason was that nano-Al2O3 particles caused dispersive strengthening and grain refining.展开更多

The structures and nanoparticle content of the nano-SiO2/Ni composite coating were determined by SEM, EDS and TEM; and the micro mechanical properties were tested by nano-indentation technique. The results show that 56% of particles in the solution are dispersed in size of less than 100nm, the content of nanoparticles co-deposited in the coating doubles and structure of the coating is more compact and uniform than that of Ni coating. Nano-SiO2/Ni coating exhibits excellent micro mechanical properties, and the nanohardness and elastic modulus are 7.81GPa and 198GPa, respectively, which are attributed to finer crystal strengthening, dispersion strengthening and high-density dislocation strengthening of nano-SiO2 particles to the composite coatings.展开更多

The results show that the wear volume increases with increas ing the sand content and sand size,and the wear resistance of the composite coa ting is 20% higher than that of the high-speed plain nickel coating. The influence of nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte on microstructures and properties of the nano-composite coatings were researched, and the characteristics were assessed by chemical compositions, element distribution, deposition rate, microhardness and microstructures. The results indicate that when nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte are controlled at 20 g·L-1, the deposition rate with 27.07 μm·h-1 and the microhardness with 666 Hv of the nano-composite coatings are highest, element line scanning and area scanning analyses show that the average contents of elements W, P, Si and Ce in the nano-composite coatings are close, displaying that the distribution of every element within the nano-composite coatings is even. An increase in nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte (when lower than 20 g·L-1) leads to refinement in grain structure of nano-composite coatings, but when it improved to 30 g·L-1, the crystallite sizes increase again and in the meantime there are a lot of small boss with nodulation shape appearing on the surface of nano-composite coatings.展开更多

The morphology, hardness, and tribological properties of the coating were investigated and compared with those of Ni and composite coatings electrodeposited with direct current(DC). The results indicate that Ni/n-SiO2 composite coating electrodeposited by RC, because of RC and the nano powders, has denser coating, finer crystal grains, higher hardness(HV650.0, nearly 1.5 times higher than that of Ni coating electrodeposited by DC) and lower friction coefficient(nearly 0.62), as a result, in the wearing experiment, the Ni/n-SiO2 composite coating electrodeposited by RC has the least worn loss. So this kind of coating has better wear resistance. And RC electro brush-plating can be used as a new technology of brush-plating in the area of wear resistance.展开更多

The results show that the entrance of nano SiO2 particles into composite coating makes the micro-hardness higher. By taking into account the effect of microstructure, heat treatment and load on the contact fatigue life, the anti contact fatigue behavior of the composite coating was examined and compared with that of nickel coating. As a result, the contact fatigue life decreased with the increasing of load. The contact fatigue lives of nano SiO 2/Ni coating were 16.5% and 45.2% higher than those of nickel coating respectively under the loads of 60 N and 140 N, and 326.3% higher than its counterpart of nickel coating after annealed under the load of 140 N. From the SEM image of fatigue fracture, it has been observed that the fatigue fracture of the composite coating initiated in the sub surface as well as at the track surface due to the huddling of units, and propagated along the interface between grain units.展开更多

Based on an orthogonal experimental design and analysis method, the CeO2-rein- forced nickel nano-composite coatings were prepared by direct current electrodeposition in a nickel sulfate bath containing CeO2 nanoparticles. Statistical results indicate that current density is the most significant variable in the electrodeposition processing, while temperature is the least important factor. The microstructure of Ni and Ni-CeO2 nano-composite coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy-disper- sive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microhardness of the Ni coating is enhanced by the incorporation of CeO2 nanoparticles. Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to characterize the corrosion behavior of Ni and Ni-CeO2 coatings. These studies show that Ni- CeOz coating has better corrosion resistance compared to Ni coating.展开更多

文摘Ni-W-P-CeO2-SiO2 nano-composite coatings were prepared on the carbon steel surface by pulse co-deposition of nickel, tungsten, phosphorus, nano-CeO2 and nano-SiO2 particles. The influence of nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte on microstructures and properties of the nano-composite coatings were researched, and the characteristics were assessed by chemical compositions, element distribution, deposition rate, microhardness and microstructures. The results indicate that when nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte are controlled at 20 g·L-1, the deposition rate with 27.07 μm·h-1 and the microhardness with 666 Hv of the nano-composite coatings are highest, element line scanning and area scanning analyses show that the average contents of elements W, P, Si and Ce in the nano-composite coatings are close, displaying that the distribution of every element within the nano-composite coatings is even. An increase in nano-SiO2 particles concentrations in electrolyte (when lower than 20 g·L-1) leads to refinement in grain structure of nano-composite coatings, but when it improved to 30 g·L-1, the crystallite sizes increase again and in the meantime there are a lot of small boss with nodulation shape appearing on the surface of nano-composite coatings.
文摘Ni/n-SiO2 composite coating was electrodeposited by brush-plating with pulse-reverse current(RC). The morphology, hardness, and tribological properties of the coating were investigated and compared with those of Ni and composite coatings electrodeposited with direct current(DC). The results indicate that Ni/n-SiO2 composite coating electrodeposited by RC, because of RC and the nano powders, has denser coating, finer crystal grains, higher hardness(HV650.0, nearly 1.5 times higher than that of Ni coating electrodeposited by DC) and lower friction coefficient(nearly 0.62), as a result, in the wearing experiment, the Ni/n-SiO2 composite coating electrodeposited by RC has the least worn loss. So this kind of coating has better wear resistance. And RC electro brush-plating can be used as a new technology of brush-plating in the area of wear resistance.

文摘The composite coating was prepared by thermal spray welding after making composite powder,which is composed of Ni-based self-melted alloy and AlOceramic powder including nano,sub-micron and micron powders.The influences of contents and sizes of AlOon the structure and wearability were investigated.The results show that the wear resistance of the coating would be increased greatly by adding AlO,but the spray weldability decreases with increasing AlOcontent.So there is an optimal content of AlOpowder.The composite coating with AlOnano or sub-micron powder of 0.5% has the best abrasive resistance,while the optimal content of AlOmicron powder is 1 %.

文摘The n-SiO2/Ni composite electro-brush plating coating was prepared on the 1045 steel substrate. SEM and TEM were utilized to analyze the surface and cross-section morphologies or the microstructures of the composite coating before and after heat treatment, as well as a micro-hardness tester was used to measure the micro-hardness before and after heat treatment. The results show that the entrance of nano SiO2 particles into composite coating makes the micro-hardness higher. After heat treatment, due to the obstruction to growth of Ni crystals from nano particles, the composite coating still possesses a higher micro-hardness than that of common Ni-base coating.

文摘The composite coating nano SiO 2/Ni was prepared by co depositing nano SiO 2 particles with pure nickel through electro brush plating. By taking into account the effect of microstructure, heat treatment and load on the contact fatigue life, the anti contact fatigue behavior of the composite coating was examined and compared with that of nickel coating. As a result, the contact fatigue life decreased with the increasing of load. The contact fatigue lives of nano SiO 2/Ni coating were 16.5% and 45.2% higher than those of nickel coating respectively under the loads of 60 N and 140 N, and 326.3% higher than its counterpart of nickel coating after annealed under the load of 140 N. From the SEM image of fatigue fracture, it has been observed that the fatigue fracture of the composite coating initiated in the sub surface as well as at the track surface due to the huddling of units, and propagated along the interface between grain units.

文摘Ni-P-nano Al2O3 composite coatings were deposited by electroless plating,and their microstructures were observed by SEM(scanning electron microscope).The microhardness and the wear resistance of the Ni-P-nano Al2O3 composite coatings were measured using microhardness tester and block-on-ring tribometer,respectively,and the comparison with those of Ni-P coatings or Ni-P-micro Al2O3 coating was given.The influences of aging temperature on their hardness and wear resistance were analyzed.The results showed that the nano Al2O3 particles were distributed uniformly in the Ni-P-Al2O3 coatings.Among three kinds of Ni-P based coatings,the hardness and wear resistance of Ni-P-nano Al2O3 coatings were largest,and the maximum values could be obtained at 400 ℃.This indicated that the precipitation of nano Al2O3 particles would improve the hardness and wear resistance of the Ni-P coatings.

文摘Current machinery requires metallic materials to have better surface properties. Based on an orthogonal experimental design and analysis method, the CeO2-rein- forced nickel nano-composite coatings were prepared by direct current electrodeposition in a nickel sulfate bath containing CeO2 nanoparticles. Statistical results indicate that current density is the most significant variable in the electrodeposition processing, while temperature is the least important factor. The microstructure of Ni and Ni-CeO2 nano-composite coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy-disper- sive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microhardness of the Ni coating is enhanced by the incorporation of CeO2 nanoparticles. Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to characterize the corrosion behavior of Ni and Ni-CeO2 coatings. These studies show that Ni- CeOz coating has better corrosion resistance compared to Ni coating.

文摘Ni-W-P matrix composite coatings reinforced by CeO2 and SiO2 nano-particles were prepared on common carbon steel surface by double pulse electrodeposition and the deposition mechanism was discussed.The results showed that the composite coatings with amorphous structure were obtained as-deposited.The initial growth behavior had alternatives and the nucleation was inhomogeneous because of obvious composition fluctuation.With the pulse deposition time increasing,some pearlite microstructures of the substrate were covered by some deposits and the composition fluctuation disappeared.Forward pulse currents promoted to form a great number of atomic beams composed of Ni,W and P atoms or CeO2 and SiO2 nano-particles as the core,which inhabited the growth of atomic beams.Reverse pulse currents eliminated concentration polarization and dissolved some surface boss of atomic beams.The solution of W and P atoms within Ni grains and embedding of CeO2 and SiO2 nano-particles within Ni-W-P matrix metal made atomic arrangement disordered.Finally,the atomic beams grew to amorphous small particles.
