Effect of chromium on hot corrosion behavior of arc-sprayed NiCr coatings

In this article,NiCr coatings with chromium content of 13%,27%and 41%were prepared by arc spraying.They were exposed in molten salts(NaCl-Na_(2)SO_(4))at 800℃for 200 hours.The effect of chromium content on the hot corrosion behavior of the coatings was in-vestigated.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope with energy dispersion spectrum(SEM-EDS)were used to analyze the phase compositions,morphologies and chemical compositions of the coatings.The results show that NiCr13 coating exhibited the worst hot corrosion resistance due to the low chromium content,which resulted in NiO being the major reaction product.It should be noted that the hot corrosion resistance of NiCr27 coating was better than that of NiCr41 coating.The basic fluxing of Cr_(2)O_(3) lowered its protection during the hot corrosion process and led to the formation of porous Cr_(2)O_(3) on the NiCr41 coating.The molten salts accelerated the oxidation reac-tion resulting in thicker and porous oxide scales formed on the surfaces of coatings. 展开更多

Properties of plasma sprayed NiCrAlY+ZrO_2 coating on TiAl alloy surface

The NiCrAlY+ZrO2 thermal barrier coating was prepared on the surface of TiAl alloy by plasma spraying technique. The microstructure and phase structure were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffractometry(XRD). The high temperature oxidation resistance of the plasma sprayed samples at 850℃ was investigated. The results show that the bonding between thermal barrier coating and substrate is very good. Surface hardness of TiAl alloy is improved too. The microhardness of the coating surface is about HV 900 after the oxidation test at 850 ℃ . The oxidation resistance of the samples is improved remarkably. 展开更多

In order to improve the high temperature oxidation resistance of TiAl alloy, Y modified silicide coatings were prepared by pack cementation process at 1030, 1080 and 1130 °C, respectively, for 5 h. The microstructures, phase constitutions and oxidation behavior of these coatings were studied. The results show that the coating prepared by co-depositing Si?Y at 1080 °C for 5 h has a multiple layer structure: a superficial zone consisting of Al-rich (Ti,Nb)5Si4 and (Ti,Nb)5Si3, an out layer consisting of (Ti,Nb)Si2, a middle layer consisting of (Ti,Nb)5Si4 and (Ti,Nb)5Si3, and aγ-TiAl inner layer. Co-deposition temperature imposes strong influences on the coating structure. The coating prepared by Si?Y co-depositing at 1080 °C for 5 h shows relatively good oxidation resistance at 1000 °C in air, and the oxidation rate constant of the coating is about two orders of magnitude lower than that of the bare TiAl alloy. 展开更多

Ceramic coating was deposited on TiAl alloy substrate by micro-arc oxidation(MAO)in a silicate-aluminate electrolyte solution with additives including sodium citrate,graphite and sodium tungstate.The microstructures and compositions were analyzed by SEM,EDX and XRD.The corrosion and wear properties of the coatings were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and ball-on-disc wear test,respectively.The results show that the MAO coatings consist of WO3,Ti2O3,graphite and Al2O3 besides Al2TiO5 and Al2SiO5.With additives in the electrolyte,the working voltage at the micro-arc discharge stage decreases,and the ceramic coating gets smoother and more compact.The corrosion current density of MAO coating is much lower than that of TiAl substrate.It can be reduced from 9.81×10-8A/cm 2to 3.02×10-10A/cm 2 .The MAO coatings composed of hard Al2O3,WO3 and Ti2O3 obviously improve the wear resistance of TiAl alloy.The wear rate is-3.27×10-7g/(N·m). 展开更多

γ-TiAl基合金用Al_(2)O_(3)-SiC-AlPO_(4)复合涂层抗高温氧化性能研究

目的通过表面涂层提高γ-TiAl基合金的抗高温氧化性能。方法采用常规喷涂涂料法在γ-TiAl合金基体上制备Al_(2)O_(3)-SiC-AlPO_(4)磷酸盐复合抗高温氧化涂层。研究γ-TiAl合金和涂层样品在900℃、静态空气条件下的准等温氧化动力学行为... 目的通过表面涂层提高γ-TiAl基合金的抗高温氧化性能。方法采用常规喷涂涂料法在γ-TiAl合金基体上制备Al_(2)O_(3)-SiC-AlPO_(4)磷酸盐复合抗高温氧化涂层。研究γ-TiAl合金和涂层样品在900℃、静态空气条件下的准等温氧化动力学行为。用XRD和SEM/EDS分别对涂层样品氧化前后的物相组成、组织形貌和微区成分进行表征分析;用电子探针(EPMA)分析涂层样品的元素分布情况。结果900℃恒温氧化动力学研究结果表明,γ-TiAl基合金初期氧化速率常数为32.501×10^(-2)mg/(cm^(2)·h^(1/2)),与后期氧化速率常数28.113×10^(-2)mg/(cm^(2)·h^(1/2))基本接近,呈直线规律,不具有抗氧化性能;而Al_(2)O_(3)-SiC-AlPO_(4)磷酸盐复合涂层样品氧化后期氧化速率常数为5.967×10^(-2) mg/(cm^(2)·h^(1/2)),与氧化初期8 h内氧化速率常数23.941×10^(-2) mg/(cm^(2)·h^(1/2))相比,明显降低,遵循典型抛物线规律,具有抗氧化性能。微观分析结果表明,原始涂层与γ-TiAl合金基体结合紧密,涂层主要相组成为Al_(2)O_(3)、SiC、SiO_(2);AlPO_(4)以无定形状态构成涂层连续相。氧化后,AlPO_(4)演变成晶态,形成涂层致密的网络结构;部分基体钛元素扩散进入涂层中疏松部位,氧化后形成TiO_(2)弥散分布在涂层中,填补了涂层疏松部位,使涂层更加致密;在涂层与基体界面2μm区域内形成连续致密Al_(2)O_(3)膜,阻挡了空气中的氧进一步扩散进入基体。结论Al_(2)O_(3)-SiC-AlPO_(4)复合涂层有效降低了γ-TiAl基合金氧化速率,有助于形成保护性Al_(2)O_(3)膜,明显改善了900℃γ-TiAl基合金抗高温氧化性能。 展开更多

The objective of the present work was to determine the influence of the neutral salt spray corrosion on the wear resistance of HVOF sprayed NiCr-Cr3C2 coating with intermediate layer. Ni-Zn-Al2O3 coatings as interlayers were prepared by low pressure cold spray(LPCS) between NiCr-Cr3C2 cermet coatings to form a sandwich structure to enhance the corrosion resistance properties. The tribological properties were examined using the UMT-3 fricition and wear tester by line-contact reciprocating sliding under dry and salt spray one week corrosion. The morphology, element distribution, and phase compositions of the coating and worn sufaces were analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction respectively. The corrosion behavior of the coating was studied by the open-circuit potential, the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization, and salt spray corrosion methods. It is found that the sandwich structured coating has better corrosion resistance than the single layer coating. The results show that under dry wear conditions, the wear mechanism is abrasive and adhesive wear, whereas under salt spray corrosion conditions it becomes corrosion wear. The friction coefficient of the sandwich structured coating after salt spray corrosion is slightly lower than the dry friction coefficient, but the weight of the wear loss is lower than that under dry condition. 展开更多

针对TiAl合金抗热腐蚀性能不足的问题,采用扩散渗法在其表面制备了Al-Y渗层,研究了催化剂类型对渗层组织结构的影响,分析了渗层的热冲击性能,对比研究了TiAl基体和Al-Y渗层在25%NaCl+75%Na2SO4熔盐(质量分数wt.%)中的热腐蚀行为。结果表... 针对TiAl合金抗热腐蚀性能不足的问题,采用扩散渗法在其表面制备了Al-Y渗层,研究了催化剂类型对渗层组织结构的影响,分析了渗层的热冲击性能,对比研究了TiAl基体和Al-Y渗层在25%NaCl+75%Na2SO4熔盐(质量分数wt.%)中的热腐蚀行为。结果表明:用不同催化剂制备的Al-Y渗层具有相似的结构,与基体均为良好的冶金结合,由外向内均由富Al外层、TiAl_(3)中间层和TiAl_(2)内层构成,但当采用NH_(4)Cl为催化剂时,渗层的致密度和均匀性较用NaF和AlCl_(3)∙6H_(2)O催化剂好。在1000℃热冲击下,Al-Y渗层较基体合金具有更强的抗热冲击性能。TiAl合金在热腐蚀时,基体中的片层状α_(2)-Ti_(3)Al相首先与O、S介质发生选择性腐蚀,随后形成灾难性腐蚀;而Al-Y涂层在热腐蚀初期会形成致密的Al_(2)O_(3)氧化膜,有效地保护了渗层,随着热腐蚀时间的延长,由于渗层内原子的内外扩散和腐蚀应力,渗层逐渐开裂,裂纹成为O和S元素的扩散通道,但在此过程中,渗层中的TiAl_(3)相发生分解,为裂纹部位提供Al源并形成Al_(2)O_(3)来填补裂纹,延缓了O和S原子的内扩散速率,增强了TiAl合金的耐热腐蚀性能。 展开更多

The effect of coatings(Y_2O_3, Zr O_2 and Al_2O_3) on the interfacial reaction of Ti Al alloys was studied with molecular dynamics. The binding energy of coatings and the diffusion process of oxygen in the melt were simulated, and then the simulation results were compared with the experimental results. The simulation results indicate that for each of the three simulated coatings, inordinate interfacial reactions have occurred between the coating and the melt. The binding energy results show that Y_2O_3 has the best stability and is the most difficult to break down. Zr O_2 has the greatest decomposition energy and is the easiest to break down in the melt. Besides, the molecular dynamics indicate that the diffusion coefficient of the oxygen atom in Al_2O_3 is larger than that in the other two coatings, indicating that oxygen diffusion in Al_2O_3 is the fastest at a given temperature. The experimental results show that the oxygen concentration of the melt with Al_2O_3 coating is the highest, and the oxygen diffusion is of similar magnitude to the simulation values, from which the conclusion can be obtained that the oxygen concentration is significantly influenced by the coating materials. 展开更多

C/Mo duplex coating interfacially modified SiC fiber-reinforced γ-TiAl matrix composite (SiCf/C/Mo/γ-TiA1) was prepared by foil-fiber-foil method to investigate its interfacial modification effect. SiCf/C/TiAl composites were also prepared under the same processing condition for comparision. Both kinds of the composites were thermally exposed in vacuum at 800 and 900℃ for different durations in order to study thermal stability of the interfacial zone. With the aids of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), the interracial microstructures of the composites were investigated. The results reveal that, although adding the Mo coating, the interfacial reaction product of the SiCf/C/Mo/TiAl composite is the same with that of the SiCf/C/TiA1 composite, which is TiC/Ti2AlC between the coating and the matrix. However, C/Mo duplex coating is more efficient in hindering interfacial reaction than C single coating at 900 ℃ and below. In addition, a new layer of interfacial reaction product was found between Ti2AlC and the matrix after 900 ℃, 200 h thermal exposure, which is rich in V and close to the chemical composition of B2 phase. 展开更多

为了提高内燃机用Ti600钛合金的综合性能,对其表面进行激光熔覆处理制得NiCr/TiAl涂层,同时测试了该涂层的各成分与组织结构,之后对其处于环境中的耐磨性进行了模拟测试。研究结果表明:涂层中形成了许多等轴晶,枝状组织以及许多细小的组... 为了提高内燃机用Ti600钛合金的综合性能,对其表面进行激光熔覆处理制得NiCr/TiAl涂层,同时测试了该涂层的各成分与组织结构,之后对其处于环境中的耐磨性进行了模拟测试。研究结果表明:涂层中形成了许多等轴晶,枝状组织以及许多细小的组织,引起晶粒明显细化。形成了块状的晶体组织与部分球形晶粒,还生成了一些纳米尺寸的晶粒。涂层的平均截面显微硬度为832 HV,与界面相距50μm的部位发生了硬度快速减小,在界面处的基体达到了比Ti600基体更高硬度。激光熔覆涂层具备比基体更低的磨损率,常温时涂层达到了最大摩擦系数和磨损率;处于真空环境中最低。常温中进行磨损区域生成了许多磨屑并产生了明显犁沟结构。在高温、低温与真空环境中测试得到了相近的磨损表面组织形态,都形成了磨屑、犁沟与粘着剥落坑。 展开更多

运用分子动力学方法对不同温度下TiAl合金的微裂纹扩展过程进行了研究,建立了TiAl合金分子动力学模型,通过共同近邻分析和位错分析得到了其在微观尺度下裂纹扩展的变形机制,并采用扫描电镜原位拉伸TiAl涂层试验对模拟结果进行了验证。... 运用分子动力学方法对不同温度下TiAl合金的微裂纹扩展过程进行了研究,建立了TiAl合金分子动力学模型,通过共同近邻分析和位错分析得到了其在微观尺度下裂纹扩展的变形机制,并采用扫描电镜原位拉伸TiAl涂层试验对模拟结果进行了验证。结果表明,在分子动力学模拟和扫描电镜原位拉伸试验中均可见裂纹向前方[100]晶向扩展,在临近孔洞时,裂纹扩展路径向[110]晶向扩展。在应力加载过程中,体系会发生裂纹尖端钝化、孔洞引导裂纹扩展改变初始扩展方向以及边界塞积等现象。随着温度的升高,原子的活性增强,热运动加剧,裂纹钝化速度增加,裂纹扩展速度变慢。体系的能量随着温度的升高而增加,当温度为500 K时,应力达到最大。温度为300~500 K时,TiAl合金的抗塑性较好,晶体结构较稳定,温度为500~1100 K时,体系易发生塑性变形,引发位错增殖,原因是1/2<110>(Perfect)位错与1/6<112>(Shockly)位错在裂尖前方塞积抑制了裂纹的扩展。 展开更多

TiAl合金具有低密度、高比强度的优异性能,是一种潜在的航空发动机用结构材料。TiAl合金的服役温度范围为700~900℃,在其表面制备高温热防护涂层可以进一步提高服役温度。本研究采用等离子喷涂技术在TiAl合金表面制备了新型TiAlCrY/YSZ涂层,并与传统的NiCrAlY/YSZ热障涂层进行高温长时间服役性能对比研究。结果发现,TiAlCrY/YSZ涂层在1100℃空气环境中服役300 h保持完好,表现出良好的高温性能,而NiCrAlY/YSZ涂层在1100℃的服役寿命不足100 h。显微分析结果表明,TiAlCrY黏结层表面会形成一层连续且致密的TGO,其主要成分为Al2O3,与YSZ涂层的界面兼容性良好。并且TGO在1100℃空气环境中服役300 h后,厚度仍<8μm。以上研究表明,与传统NiCrAlY/YSZ热障涂层相比,TiAlCrY/YSZ更适合作为TiAl合金表面的高温热防护涂层。 展开更多

采用激光熔覆工艺在TC4基体表面制备了TiAl涂层,分别对TC4基体与TiAl涂层在600、800、900和1000℃下开展了循环氧化50 h实验,分析TC4基体与TiAl涂层在不同温度下的氧化动力学行为、氧化膜的物相、表面形貌及元素分布,并对其高温氧化机... 采用激光熔覆工艺在TC4基体表面制备了TiAl涂层,分别对TC4基体与TiAl涂层在600、800、900和1000℃下开展了循环氧化50 h实验,分析TC4基体与TiAl涂层在不同温度下的氧化动力学行为、氧化膜的物相、表面形貌及元素分布,并对其高温氧化机理进行了阐述。结果表明:涂层氧化动力学曲线近似符合抛物线规律,且单位氧化质量增加和氧化速率均比TC4基体小。TiAl涂层在600、800、900和1000℃下的氧化质量增加分别为TC4基体的12.5%、20%、55.6%和35.7%。TiAl涂层的氧化产物主要为Al_(2)O_(3)和TiO_(2),在600~900℃之间氧化物均匀致密无破损,在1000℃下出现氧化膜的破损、剥落。TiAl涂层的氧化极限较TC4基体至少提高300℃,表现出优异的高温抗氧化性能。 展开更多

In order to obtain a high-performance surface on TiAl alloy that can meet the requirements in hot corrosion environment,Si-Al-Y coatings were fabricated by pack cementation process at 1050℃for 4 h.Corrosion behaviors of the TiAl alloy with and without Si-Al-Y coatings are compared to illustrate the factors and corresponding mechanism in molten salt environment of 25 wt%K2SO4 and 75 wt%Na2SO4 at 900°C.The obtained Si-Al-Y coating was mainly composed of a TiSi2 outer layer,a(Ti,X)5Si4 and(Ti,X)5Si3(X represents Nb or Cr element)middle layer,a TiAl2 inner layer and a Al-rich inter-diffusion zone.The inter-phase selective corrosion containing corrosion pits extending alongα2 phase from lamellar interfaces in hot corrosion tested TiAl alloy was observed.However,by being coated with Si-Al-Y coating,the hot corrosion performance of TiAl alloy was improved remarkably. 展开更多
