The favorable conditions for petroleum accumulation due to volcanic activity and igneous rocks formed during the activity show in two aspects. A) The contact surface of igneous rocks and the surrounding sedimentary rocks, like a vertical unconformity surface, formed the conduit of petroleum migration. Petroleum would accumulate once it encountered a trap in which the reservoir had fine porosity and permeability. B) It formed a trap barriered by igneous rocks, or changed or cut the original trap. In addition, volcanic rocks are a kind of potential reservoir, there are many such examples in the world, and oil also shows in the Permian igneous rocks in well Zhong-1 on Tazhong uplift. Petroleum accumulation associated with volcanic activity will be a new exploring field in the Tarim basin.展开更多

This affinity between gas pool and content of inclusion in the same volcanic reservoirs demonstrates that magma-originated gases, both CH4 and CO2, have contributed significantly to the corresponding gas pools and that the assumed hydrocarbon budget of the bulk earth might be much larger than conventionally supposed.展开更多

Volcanic rocks series ranging from basaltic andesite to dacite(SiO_2 ranges from 53.8 to 63.0 wt.%) from the eastern Manus Basin were detected for major and trace element compositions to understand their origin. Low H_2O contents, positive correlations of La-SiO_2 and Yb-SiO_2, oxygen isotope data and the indistinct change of trace element concentrations in oscillatory zoning of plagioclase phenocrysts rule out the models in which silicic lava results from direct melting of hydrous mantle, partial melting of altered oceanic crust or gabbros, and magma mixing, respectively. Besides, the geochemical data of whole rock and melt inclusions indicate that fractional crystallization plays a dominant role in generating the intermediate lava with subduction features.展开更多

The rocks fall into four groups: Cenozoic basalt,Mesozoic late Cretaceous basaltic trachy andesite, Mesozoic late Cretaceous trachy dacite and liparite, and Mesozoic early Triassic dacite. The distribution pattern of the main elemental abundance of late Mesozoic shows a typical bimodal.Chronologically, for the volcanic rock, the amount of SiO 2 decreases gradually, the contents of Fe 2O 3,FeO,CaO,MgO,TiO 2,P 2O 5 and MnO increase little by little. The Cenozoic basalt is derived from the asthenospheric mantle. The late Cretaceous basaltic trachy andesite is derived from the enriched lithospheric mantle. In late Cretaceous and early Palaeogene, the felsic volcanic rock may be derived from fractional melting of the crust.展开更多

However, the lack of studies on the genesis of the volcanic rocks has led to different opinions being presented for the genesis of the SB. In order to solve this problem, this study selected the volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation in the Southern Songliao Basin(SSB) as the research object, and determined the genesis and tectonic setting of the volcanic rocks by using LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating and a geochemical analysis method(major elements, trace elements, and Hf isotopes). The volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation are mainly composed of rhyolites with minor dacites and pyroclastic rocks. Our new zircon U-Pb dating results show that these volcanic rocks were erupted in the Early Cretaceous(113–118 Ma). The primary zircons from the rhyolites have εHf(t) values of +4.70 to +12.46 and twostage model age(TDM2) of 876–374 Ma. The geochemical data presented in this study allow these rhyolites to be divided into I-type rhyolites and A-type rhyolites, both of which were formed by the partial melting of the crust. They have SiO2 contents of 71.62 wt.%–75.76 wt.% and Al2 O3 contentsof 10.88 wt.% to 12.92 wt.%. The rhyolites have distinctively higher REE contents than those of ordinary granites, with obvious negative Eu anomalies. The light to heavy REE fractionation is not obvious, and the LaN/YbN(average value = 9.78) is less than 10. The A-type rhyolites depleted in Ba, Sr, P, and Ti, with relatively low Nb/Ta, indicating that the rocks belong A2 subtype granites formed in an extensional environment. The adakitic dacites are characterized by high Sr contents(624 to 1,082 ppm), low Y contents(10.6 to 12.6 ppm), high Sr/Y and Sr/Yb ratios, and low Mg# values(14.77 to 36.46), indicating that they belong to "C" type adakites. The adakitic dacite with high Sr and low Yb were likely generated by partial melting of the lower crust under high pressure conditions at least 40 km depth. The I-type rhyolites with low Sr and high Yb, and the A-type rhyolites with very low Sr and high Yb, were formed in the middle and upper crust under low pressure conditions, respectively. In addition, the formation depths of the former were approximately 30 km, whereas those of the latter were less than 30 km. The geochemical characteristics reveal that the volcanic rocks of Yingcheng Formation were formed in an extensional environment which was related to the retreat of subducted Paleo-Pacific Plate. At the late Early Cretaceous Period, the upwelling of the asthenosphere mantle and the lithosphere delamination caused by the retreat of the subducted Paleo-Pacific Plate, had resulted in lithosheric extension in the eastern part of China. Subsequently, a large area of volcanic rocks had formed. The SB has also been confirmed to be a product of the tectonic stress field in that region.展开更多

Pal 61 well, with 855.7 949.6 m section, in the conventional test oil obtained 6 t/d industrial oil flow. The surface viscosity is 390 mPa. s (50 ℃). The marine deposit of Carboniferous are deep oil source rocks and high-quality reservoir. Magma volcanic activity provides the basis for volcanic reservoir development and distribution. The weathering crust and secondary cracks developed volcanic tuff by strong rock weathering and dissolution of organic acids which has become top quality reservoir. Deep Permian oil-gas migrated and accumulated to high parts along Hong-Che fault belt and stratigraphic unconformity stripping. Permian and Triassic volcanic rocks or dense mudstone sedimentary cover as a regional seal for the late Carboniferous oil-gas to save critically. The seismic pre-stack time migration processing technologies for the problem of poor inner structures of Carboniferous were developed. Response of volcanic rock seismic and logging are obvious. The application imaging logging and nuclear magnetic technology achieved the qualitative identification and quantification of fracture description.展开更多

In addition, volcanic rocks are a kind of potential reservoir, there are many such examples in the world, and oil also shows in the Permian igneous rocks in well Zhong-1 on Tazhong uplift. Petroleum accumulation associated with volcanic activity will be a new exploring field in the Tarim basin.

文摘Deep-water gravity depositional processes and evolution in arc systems have become topics of intense research focus in recent years. This study discusses the co-evolution of volcanism and deep-water gravity flow deposits at the southern margin of the Junggar Basin, based on petrology, geochronology and geochemical analyses. The results show that a massive collapse of unstable sediments from the slope was triggered by volcanism, resulting in the formation of slumping gravity flows. The occurrence of volcanic beds in the slump deposits confirm that synchronous volcanism likely affected sediment instability, triggering gravity flows. The Th/Yb,Ta/Yb and Th/Ta elemental ratios,U-Pb ages of detrital zircons and paleocurrent directions indicate that the North Tianshan(NTS)island arc represents the provenance of the Qianxia Formation. Moreover, statistical data on the pyroclastic components in the gravity flow deposits reveal an intensity index of volcanism, indicating that volcanism is strongly related to gravity flow deposits, especially in terms of the type and distribution of the deposits.A model for volcanically-triggered deep-water gravity flow deposits is established,in order to provide a more in-depth understanding of the co-evolution of volcanism and gravity flow deposits within the depositional setting of the late Paleozoic NTS oceanic subduction margin in the Junggar Basin.
文摘Comparing compositions of the fluid inclusions in volcanic rocks to the contents and isotopes of the gases in corresponding volcanic reservoirs using microthermometry, Raman microspectroscopy and mass spectrum analysis, we found that: (1) up to 82 mole% methane exists in the primary inclusions hosted in the reservoir volcanic rocks; (2) high CH4 inclusions recognized in the volcanic rocks correspond to CH4-bcaring CO2 reservoirs that are rich in helium and with a high ^3He/^4He ratio and which show reversed order of 813C in alkane; (3) in gas reservoirs of such abiotic methane (〉80%) and a mix of CH4 and CO2, the enclosed content of CH4 in the volcanic inclusions is usually below 42 mole%, and the reversed order of δ^13C in alkane is sometimes irregular in the corresponding gas pools; (4) a glassy inclusion with a homogeneous temperature over 900℃ also contains a small portion of CH4 although predominantly CO2. This affinity between gas pool and content of inclusion in the same volcanic reservoirs demonstrates that magma-originated gases, both CH4 and CO2, have contributed significantly to the corresponding gas pools and that the assumed hydrocarbon budget of the bulk earth might be much larger than conventionally supposed.

文摘The Xujiaweizi Fault Depression is located in the northern Songliao Basin,Northeast China. The exploration results show that the most favorable natural gas reservoirs are in the volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation(K 1 yc).Based on seismic interpretation, drill cores and the results of previous research,we analyzed the distribution of faults and the thickness of volcanic rocks in different periods of K 1 yc,and studied the relationship of volcanic activities and main faults.Volcanic rocks were formed in the Yingcheng period when the magma erupted along pre-existing fault zones. The volcanic activities strongly eroded the faults during the eruption process, which resulted in the structural traces in the seismic section being diffuse and unclear. The tectonic activities weakened in the study area in the depression stage. The analysis of seismic interpretation, thin section microscopy and drill cores revealed that a large number of fractures generated in the volcanic rocks were affected by later continued weak tectonic activities, which greatly improved the physical properties of volcanic reservoirs, and made the volcanic rocks of K 1 yc be favorable natural gas reservoirs. The above conclusions provide the basis to better understand the relationship of the volcanic rock distribution and faults, the mechanism of volcanic eruption and the formation of natural gas reservoirs in volcanic rocks.

文摘Late Mesozoic Nb-rich basaltic andesites and high-Mg adakitic volcanic rocks from the Hailar-Tamtsag Basin, northeast China, provide important insights into the recycling processes of crustal materials and their role in late Mesozoic lithospheric thinning. The Late Jurassic Nb-rich basaltic andesites(154±4 Ma)are enriched in large-ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, slightly depleted in high-field-strength elements, and have high TiO_(2),P_(2)O_(5),and Nb contents,and(Nb/Th)PM and Nb/U ratios, which together with the relatively depleted Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic compositions indicate a derivation from a mantle wedge metasomatized by hydrous melts from subducted oceanic crust. The Early Cretaceous high-Mg adakitic volcanic rocks(129-117 Ma)are characterized by low Y and heavy rare earth element contents, and high Sr contents and Sr/Y ratios, similar to those of rocks derived from partial melting of an eclogitic source. They also have high Rb/Sr,K_(2)O/Na_(2)O,and Mg#values, and high MgO,Cr,and Ni contents. These geochemical features suggest that the adakitic lavas were derived from partial melting of delaminated lower continental crust, followed by interaction of the resulting melts with mantle material during their ascent. Our data, along with available geological, paleomagnetic, and geophysical evidence, lead us to propose that recycling of Paleo-Pacific oceanic crustal materials into the upper mantle due to flat-slab subduction and rollback of the Paleo-Pacific Plate during the late Mesozoic likely provided the precondition for lithospheric thinning in northeast China, with consequent lithospheric delamination causing recycling of continental crustal materials and further lithospheric thinning.

文摘Based on core and thin section data, the source rock samples from the Fengcheng Formation in the Mahu Sag of the Junggar Basin were analyzed in terms of zircon SIMS U-Pb geochronology, organic carbon isotopic composition, major and trace element contents,as well as petrology. Two zircon U-Pb ages of(306.0±5.2)Ma and(303.5±3.7)Ma were obtained from the first member of the Fengcheng Formation.Combined with carbon isotopic stratigraphy,it is inferred that the depositional age of the Fengcheng Formation is about 297-306 Ma,spanning the Carboniferous-Permian boundary and corresponding to the interglacial period between C4 and P1 glacial events.Multiple increases in Hg/TOC ratios and altered volcanic ash were found in the shale rocks of the Fengcheng Formation, indicating that multiple phases of volcanic activity occurred during its deposition. An interval with a high B/Ga ratio was found in the middle of the second member of the Fengcheng Formation, associated with the occurrence of evaporite minerals and reedmergnerite, indicating that the high salinity of the water mass was related to hydrothermal activity.Comprehensive analysis suggests that the warm and humid climate during the deposition of Fengcheng Formation is conducive to the growth of organic matter such as algae and bacteria in the lake, and accelerates the continental weathering, driving the input of nutrients.Volcanic activities supply a large amount of nutrients and stimulate primary productivity. The warm climate and high salinity are conducive to water stratification, leading to water anoxia that benefits organic matter preservation. The above factors interact and jointly control the enrichment of organic matter in the Fengcheng Formation of Mahu Sag.

文摘There has been much recent interest in the origin of intermediate lava and several hypotheses are: 1) direct melting of the mantle under water-saturated conditions, 2) partial melting of altered crust, 3) fractional crystallization of parent magma, and 4) magma mixing of mafic magmas with dacitic/rhyolitic magmas. Besides, the geochemical data of whole rock and melt inclusions indicate that fractional crystallization plays a dominant role in generating the intermediate lava with subduction features.

文摘Based on the data from typical core sampling, combined with K Ar dating, petrochemistry ,trace elemental geochemistry and isotopic compositions of the Mesozoic Cenozoic volcanic rock in the Huanghua basin, Bohai region, the geochemical features of the volcanic rock were studied. In late Cretaceous and early Palaeogene, the felsic volcanic rock may be derived from fractional melting of the crust.

文摘The discoveries of oil and gas reservoirs in the volcanic rocks of the Songliao Basin(SB) have attracted the attention of many researchers. The SB has also been confirmed to be a product of the tectonic stress field in that region.

文摘In 2011, petroleum exploration of shallow marine deposits Carboniferous and volcanic tuff reservoir re- alized breakthroughs at Chepaizi slope in the western margin of Junggar Basin. The application imaging logging and nuclear magnetic technology achieved the qualitative identification and quantification of fracture description.
