The Innovative Practice of Traditional Printmaking Art in the Teaching of Costume Design

Costume is not only an important carrier of human civilization,but also reflects the development level of material and spiritual civilization.In modern costume design,we have incorporated colorful cultural elements,which are not only the embodiment of aesthetics but also the aesthetic expression based on culture.Printmaking art,as a kind of traditional art,has its unique style and characteristics.In teaching practice,we instruct students to integrate the creative spirit and formal elements of printmaking into costume design,to realize the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture.Under the background of globalization,we should be more committed to inheriting and carrying forward the excellent Chinese national culture and promoting the popularization and dissemination of traditional culture.Exploring the application of printmaking art in costume design through teaching practice aims to construct a new teaching mode,which provides a reference for the application of other traditional arts in modern design teaching.

Exploration of Practice Teaching Reform Based on Outcome-Based Education Concept:Taking Environmental Design Major as an Example

The concept of OBE(outcome-based education)is more focused on designing and implementing teaching activities around expected learning outcomes than the traditional teaching model and enhancing the quality of education through clear and measurable learning outcomes,which has led to profound changes in the field of education.However,environmental design practice teaching faces a series of challenges in the implementation of the OBE concept,including the complexity of the assessment system,personalized learning and creative learning,and over-reliance on quantitative assessment.Therefore,in order to further deepen the professionalization of the OBE concept,we have conducted research on the design education practice models at home and abroad,explored the practice teaching models and their applications such as project system,studio model,practical internships,and technology-driven interdisciplinary integration,and took the practice innovative teaching models of Stanford d.school and Rhode Island School of Design(RISD)as examples to explore the characteristics of the curricula,cultivation modes,and the development of the environmental design professional practice teaching model.The characteristics of OBE and RISD are discussed to provide a global vision and local contextual reference for the practice teaching reform of environmental design majors.

Lithium Sulfur Batteries:Insights from Solvation Chemistry to Feasibility Designing Strategies for Practical Applications

Rechargeable lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,featuring high energy density,low cost,and environmental friendliness,have been dubbed as one of the most promising candidates to replace current commercial rechargeable Li-ion batteries.However,their practical deployment has long been plagued by the infamous“shuttle effect”of soluble Li polysulfides(LiPSs)and the rampant growth of Li dendrites.Therefore,it is important to specifically elucidate the solvation structure in the Li-S system and systematically summarize the feasibility strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect and the growth of Li dendrites for practical applications.This review attempts to achieve this goal.In this review,we first introduce the importance of developing Li-S batteries and highlight the key challenges.Then,we revisit the working principles of Li-S batteries and underscore the fundamental understanding of LiPSs.Next,we summarize some representative characterization techniques and theoretical calculations applied to characterize the solvation structure of LiPSs.Afterward,we overview feasible designing strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect of soluble LiPSs and the growth of Li dendrites.Finally,we conclude and propose personal insights and perspectives on the future development of Li-S batteries.We envisage that this timely review can provide some inspiration to build better Li-S batteries for promoting practical applications.

An introduction to hull design practices for deepwater floating structures

The concepts of floating structure plays a very important role in deepwater projects; and the design of the floating structure is one of the most important tasks in the project. The importance of the floating structure in offshore projects can be demonstrated in the following several areas： the substantial dynamic structure responses due to wave loading and current loading; the limited motion requirements of risers in deep water; and the increasing difficulty of installation for different components of the system. Three major technical aspects have to be considered, i.e. the strength of structure, the fatigue resistance capacity of the system, and local and global stability of the structure. This paper reviews the current design practice of floating structures, evaluates the main tasks during the design and associated major technical requirements, and addresses the major technical challenges encountered during the design. As a close-out of the paper, the authors discuss some potential future developments in the design of floating structures.

Research on Landscape Planning and Design of Education Practice Base——A Case Study of Shengquan Education Practice Base in Feidong County of Hefei City of China

By taking landscape planning and design of Shengquan Educational Practice Base in Feidong County of Hefei City for example, the paper has analyzed its base condition, planning target of the construction of "the thought tank of Chinese culture", and landscape construction distinguished from modern and traditional agricultural sightseeing park. It has identified its position, and highlighted the combination of education and practice. Then, in the perspective of "one axis, two belts and four areas", its general layout has been illustrated, and the specific practice contents and plant landscape construction in the practice park and activity route have been introduced in detail. It has emphasized its characteristic dominant projects and established its brand, so as to achieve the win-win of education practice significance and economic benefit.

Design of Practice Teaching for Science of Land Management

The Science of Land Management is a course integrating theory and practice closely.In order to improve the teaching effect of the course and practice the course,this paper discussed practice work related to main contents of the Science of Land Management.On the basis of taking overall consideration of the status and functions of this course in the entire teaching system,this paper designed three practice teaching parts closely connected with the core contents.This is of realistic significance for improving the teaching quality of the Science of Land Management.

The research and practice of major technological issues on design of Three Gorges Project

The dam of Three Gorges Project is characterized by large flood discharge capacity,more outlets,complicated flood discharge and energy dissipation structure,and the stability of the bank powerhouse dam foundation is endangered by large gentle-dip structural plane of the bedrock due to the deep excavation of powerhouse at the dam-toe.For the dam body concrete,the durability requirement is high and the temperature control and crack prevention are difficult.The practical experience which could be used for reference in the design and construction of asphalt concrete core wall for Maopingxi protective earth-rock dam is scarce.The power station operates with high water head and large head variation.The type selection of penstock and intake as well as the embedding way of spiral case are complicated in technique,and the tailrace tunnel with sloping ceiling of underground power plant is arranged instead of traditional tailrace surge tank.For the double-line five-step ship-lock,the design of fully lined ship-lock,high head delivery system and large-sized miter gates and hoists is very challenging due to high operation head,complicated delivery conditions and building in deep excavated rock.The preferred solutions,optimal schemes and technical measures for various structures,as well as the innovation achievements proved by practice are highlighted.

Practice and Exploration of Experiential Theme Landscape Design in Urban Historic Blocks: A Case Study of Shengjin Tower Folk Custom Historical Block in Nanchang

Urban historic blocks are an important part of urban public space,but urban public space pays far less attention to users’experience,and there is a lack of design problem of experiential theme landscape.The landscape design practice of Shengjin Tower Folk Custom Historical Block in Nanchang provides an attempt to explore the design problem of experiential theme landscape.In this paper,the results of the design practice were sorted out and summarized,and the specific conception of the experiential design of urban public space was discussed from three aspects of the experiential control design,spatial experience design and serial experience design of the historic block on the basis of elaborating the design concept,so as to provide inspiration and reference for similar urban historic block projects.

The design and practice of giant hydro turbine generating units of Three Gorges Project

The main technical problems that should be considered in the design of hydro-turbine generating units of Three Gorges Project (TGP) are analyzed;the key technical researches performed are summarized,and the parameters of hydro-turbine generating units are optimized through the study on key technical problems.The unit operation indicates that the performance of the hydro-turbine generating units is excellent,and the units can operate in a safe,stable and highly efficient mode for a long term.Therefore,it is verified effectively that the general technical design of units is scientific and rational.

Through analyzing problems in the teaching of Chinese architecture history, this paper fi gured out the crucial reasons why history lessons fail to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm, and explored the practice-oriented teaching methods from the perspectives of teaching means, methods and objectives to solve the problems. By introducing such teaching means as visual practices, experience practices and design practices into the teaching of Chinese architecture history, the history course could be united with design course effectively, and become significant theory support and guideline for the architectural design, which will improve the teaching quality of Chinese architecture history comprehensively, stimulate students' learning enthusiasm, and promote their learning effi ciency and achievements.

The Dialectical Relationship between "Changing" and "Unchanging" in GIS Practice Teaching in the Social Transition Period

New requirements have been proposed for GIS practice teaching in colleges and universities in response to the developmental changes of national and industrial sectors during the social transition.Meanwhile,the underlying core characteristics of GIS should remain unchanged in GIS teaching to ensure they serve as the inherent attributes distinguishing GIS from other disciplines.Therefore,the clarification of the dialectical relationship between “changing” and “unchanging” in GIS practice teaching becomes the primary issue to address in relevant teaching reform.To address this issue,the present study systematically analyzes the structural contradictions in GIS practice teaching in the social transition period,and then closely examines the dialectical relationship between “changing” and “unchanging” from the key aspects of educational philosophy,teaching content,teaching methodology,and teaching assessment.Next,using the course of “GIS Practice Design” at the Central South University as an example,the present study describes this university’s reform and inheritance in GIS practice teaching,aiming to provide reference for GIS practice teaching in other universities or majors.

Stormwater Management Practices and Green-Blue Infrastructure in Urban Areas: an Overview

Water quality,flooding risk,and water consumption in urban areas are emerging issues.Urban impervious surfaces increase stormwater runoff,affecting ecosystems and leading to hydrogeological instability and flooding risk.Sustainable urban design strategies can contribute to counteract the negative impact of anthropic activities both at city-scale and global scale.Green and Blue Infrastructure(GBI)approaches,in particular,are an alternative to stormwater traditional management.In Europe,Sustainable Drainage System implementation copes with impervious surfaces to achieve water quality,amenity,and biodiversity increase.Best Management Practices,developed mainly in the USA,focus on specific measures for sustainable stormwater treatment.Water Sensitive Urban Design,spread in Australia and England,also aims to minimise the impact of developed areas preventing flood risk,limiting water consumption and enhancing environmental quality.In the USA and Canada,Low Impact Development offers design strategies to manage runoff and deliver structural practices to mimic predevelopment processes of infiltration,filtration and detention.
