It is an electron microscopy observation, namely the non-aqueous electrolysis extraction method with a settled coulometer. In the research, the extraction effects of non-metallic inclusions in different electrolysis systems were studied, and it was concluded that alkalescent 2% TEA non-aqueous electrolyte was applicable for extracting most of non-metallic inclusion particles in steel. And then, in order to ensure the microscopic characterization and statistical calculation of inclusion particles, some electrolysis parameters should be confirmed, such as the size of the sample, control of the electrolysis mass, electric current, etc. Furthermore, for preventing the disturbance of carbides and presenting clear three-dimensional appearance by microscopic characterization, magnetic separation was utilized to separate the inclusion particles from carbides, which was useful for getting more veracious types, particle sizes and chemical composition of inclusions. Moreover, through calculation of quantity and particle size of inclusions in continuous determinate fields, the total quantity per unit volume or area and the particle size distribution of inclusions could be acquired by conversion with electrolysis loss. Besides, the comparison between this method and traditional quantitative metallography was also discussed, and finally, a conclusion was drawn that both of them have respectively applications in characterizing inclusions.展开更多

The largest size of inclusions in the casting and the thermodynamic possibility of TiN precipitation in steel were also calculated. The results show that sulfide inclusions are evenly distributed and the content is low. The amount of oxide inclusions in CIESC: 4Cr5MoSiV1 steel is close to the ESR steel and lower than that in the EAF steel, and there are some differences along radial direction. Nitride inclusions are fine and the diameter of the largest one is 3-1 mum. With the increase of the centrifugal machine's rotational speed, the ratio of round inclusions increases and the ratio of sharp inclusions decreases. According to the experiment and the calculation results, it is pointed out that the largest diameter of non-metallic inclusions in the CIESC 4Cr5MoSiV1 casting is only 6.6 mum, and [N%][Ti%] in 4Cr5MoSiV1 steel should be controlled less than 4.4x 10(-5) in order to further reduce the amount and size of TiN inclusions.展开更多

The variation of surface free energy helped inclusions enter the slag phase, whereas the decrease of slag viscosity shortened the separation time. The deformation of the steel–slag interface could give rise to the resistance force, which would resist inclusions passing through the interface. The thermodynamics of CaS inclusion formation was analyzed, and the morphology and the size distribution were observed. Furthermore, the change in inclusion characteristics after calcium treatment and the effect of calcium treatment on magnetic properties were discussed. The results show that the formation of MnS and A1N inclusions were restrained, and the aggregating, floating and removing of microinclusions after calcium treatment were effectively promoted. The cleanliness of liquid steel was obviously increased. The main type of inclusions was single phase of CaO, with some complex inclusions composed of CaO, SiO2 and MgO. No CaS inclusion was observed after an appropriate calcium treatment. The size of all inclusions was distributed in the range of 2 - 20 μm, and the number was about 1.8 × 10^5/mm3. In addition, as an increasing amount of calcium was added, the core loss gradually decreased to a stable level, and the magnetic induction decreased quickly after a slow increase. The optimal calcium treatment mode depends on the chemical composition of steel.展开更多

The results showed that, LF refining for LCAK steel could decrease the wT[o] significantly, and the inclusions were modified by Ca treatment, which prevented nozzle clogging efficiently. However, owing to the unstable casting condition in the earlier stage of casting, a severe reoxidation occurred, accompanied with mold slag entrapment. The transformation of non-metallic inclusions during the steelmaking process was Al2O3→MgO→Al2O3 type inclusion→MgO-Al2O3 O3-CaO type inclusion with a CaS ring, and the mechanism of the transformation was pro posed and discussed via thermodynamic and kinetic analysis. Besides, to avoid CaS precipitation, the product of W[Al] ×w3[S] in steel should be less than 2.0 × 10 10 at 1873 K, which remands higher desulfurization ratio during LF refining.展开更多

Therefore, it is very important for a warranty of product’s characteristics to improve inclusion quality resulting in defective products. In the present work, the control technique of inclusions’ chemical composition is discussed thermodynamically based on the Redlich-Kister type polynomial to metallic solution and regular solution model to molten oxide solution. It is very effective for the precise chemical composition control of oxides to determine the concentration of deoxidizers based on the thermodynamic relation among dissolved deoxidizers and oxygen, because it is known that oxide inclusions are equilibrated with them in molten steel in the steel making process. High alloy steel production process was focused in the present work.展开更多

文摘Effects of varied levels of cerium(28×10-6,65×10^(-6) and 150×10^(-6))on inclusions in a high-carbon chromium bearing steel at different stages(before adding cerium, after adding cerium for 1,5,10 min and ingot)were studied using laboratory experiments. An automatic scanning electron microscope system with energy-dispersive spectroscopy was used to analyze the amount, composition, size and morphology of inclusions in the steel at different stages. When the cerium content in the molten steel increased from 0 to 150×10^(-6),the evolution sequence of inclusions was as follows:Al_(2)O_(3)→CeAl11O18→CeAlO_(3)→Ce_(2)O_(2)S.After 28×10^(-6) cerium was added,Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions were modified into CeAl_(11)O_(18) inclusions in the molten steel and then were further transformed into Al2O3 and CeAlO3 inclusions in the solid steel during cooling. With the addition of 65×10^(-6) cerium, inclusions in the molten steel were modified into CeAlO_(3) and a small number of Ce2O2S inclusions. When the addition amount of cerium increased to 150×10^(-6),inclusions were transformed to Ce_(2)O_(2)S.The size of inclusions in the molten steel decreased obviously with cerium addition. On the other hand, the size of inclusions increased during the cooling process in solid steels of No.1 steel(with 28×10^(-6) cerium)and No.2 steel(with 65×10^(-6) cerium).During the cooling process, unmodified MnS inclusions were precipitated in the solid steel of No.1 steel and wrapped outside the Al2O3 and CeAlO_(3) inclusions to form large complex inclusions.During the cooling process of No.2 steel, the inclusion size of CeAlO_(3) increased due to the collision and polymerization. In the No.3 steel(with 150×10^(-6) cerium),the average size of inclusions decreased rapidly and remained at a lower size during the cooling process, which was beneficial to improving the fatigue life of the steel.

文摘Specific grades of high-entropy alloys(HEAs)can provide opportunities for optimizing properties toward high-temperature applications. In this work, the Co-based HEA with a chemical composition of Co_(47.5)Cr_(30)Fe_(7.5)Mn_(7.5)Ni_(7.5)(at%)was chosen. The refractory metallic elements hafnium(Hf)and molybdenum(Mo)were added in small amounts(1.5at%)because of their well-known positive effects on high-temperature properties.Inclusion characteristics were comprehensively explored by using a two-dimensional cross-sectional method and extracted by using a three-dimensional electrolytic extraction method. The results revealed that the addition of Hf can reduce Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions and lead to the formation of more stable Hf-rich inclusions as the main phase.Mo addition cannot influence the inclusion type but could influence the inclusion characteristics by affecting the physical parameters of the HEA melt. The calculated coagulation coefficient and collision rate of Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions were higher than those of HfO_(2)inclusions,but the inclusion amount played a larger role in the agglomeration behavior of HfO_(2)and Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions.The impurity level and active elements in HEAs were the crucial factors affecting inclusion formation.
文摘Non-metallic inclusion distribution in the surface layer of IF steel slabs during unsteady casting was investigated using the original position statistic distribution analysis(OPA)method. It was found that most non-metallic inclusions larger than 10 μm existed in the subsurface layers of 0.5-3.5 mm from the slab surfaces and very few large non-metallic inclusions were found in the inner regions(≥4.5 mm from slab surfaces). In addition,it was found that at high casting speed level(1.4 m/min),even a slight change of casting speed could result in a remarkable increase of the non-metallic inclusions. Thus,at high casting speed, changing the casting speed should be avoided or considerably lower speed changing rate must be used.

文摘The behavior of non-metallic inclusions in LCAK (low carbon aluminum killed) steel produced by BOF (basic oxygen furnace)-LF (ladle furnace) refining-FTSC (flexible thin slab continuous caster) production route was investigated. Besides, to avoid CaS precipitation, the product of W[Al] ×w3[S] in steel should be less than 2.0 × 10 10 at 1873 K, which remands higher desulfurization ratio during LF refining.

文摘Effects of prior austenite deformation and non-metallic inclusions on the ferrite nucleation and grain refine- ment of two kinds of low-carbon steels have been studied. The ferrite nucleation on MnS and V(C, N) is observed. The combination of thermomeehanical processes with adequate amounts of non-metallic inclusions formed in low-car- bon steels could effectively refine the grain size and the microstructure. Ferrite nucleated on the single MnS or V(C, N) inclusions and complex MnS+V(C,N) inclusion. The proper addition of elements S and V could effectively promote the formation of ferrite and further refinement of ferrite grains.

文摘Non-metallic inclusion in electroslag remelting is a constant topic that has been studied for decades.Different results and conclusions are obtained on some of the subjects from these previous investigations. These differences originate in part from different experimental conditions, including original inclusion chemistries in consumable electrode, slag composition, oxygen level, liquid metal compositions, deoxidation schemes, and melting rates of electroslag remelting. The advances in the operating practices of inclusion control in electroslag remelting production are reviewed.Inclusion evolution during the electroslag remelting and related processing parameters are also reviewed and assessed. The role of the reoxidation of liquid steel during electroslag remelting on oxide inclusion composition is discussed. The generation of inclusions in remelted ingot is critically assessed.Perspective and remaining issues are noted.
文摘There is a close relation between the characteristics of products and the chemical composition control of inclusions in steelmaking process. High alloy steel production process was focused in the present work.

文摘The inclusion characteristics in extra low-carbon ferromanganese(ELC-FeMn),low-carbon ferromanganese(LC-FeMn),mid-carbon ferromanganese(MC-FeMn),and high-carbon ferromanganese(HC-FeMn)were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy. The effect of FeMn alloys on the cleanliness of transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP)steel was studied based on laboratory-scale experiments and thermodynamic calculations. The results show that the main inclusions in ELC-FeMn are MnO-MnS and MnS,and the dominant inclusions in LC-FeMn and MC-FeMn are MnO,MnO-SiO_(2),and MnO-SiO_(2)-MnS.The inclusions in HC-FeMn are diversified.Besides MnO-SiO_(2)inclusion,a certain number of Al-,Si-,and Ti-containing inclusions and enrichment phases of Pb,Sn,and P are observed in HC-FeMn.Before FeMn alloy addition, the main inclusion in steel is Al2O.After alloying with the four different grades of FeMn alloy, the main inclusions in TRIP steel are Al_(2)O_(3),AIN,MnS,AlO3-AIN,AINMnS,and Al_(2)O_(3)-MnS.The MnO and SiO_(2)inclusions from FeMn alloys are not detected in TRIP steel.

文摘The world is facing dramatic challenges related to environmental sustainability at an accelerating pace.In this context, the field of economic geography(EG)has been playing an important role in understanding both the socioeconomic and technological dimensions of these challenges,as it deals with a variety of complementary notions and perspectives.Departing from this lens, our aim is to explore a conceptual framework that can help us to understand environmental changes relating to multi-dimensional territorial development, notably in eco-nomic contexts where inequality is high, and stratification based on hierarchies regulate social and economic life.Based on the territory concept,we propose the original notion of a hierarchical regional innovation system(HRIS)that emphasises the pervasive role of hierarchies(powers)in regional innovation systems and illustrate its value with evidence and case studies from extant literature on sustainability transitions. The HRIS can help us understand and promote development paths considering the contribution of inclusive eco-innovations(another original conceptual amalgam).Through some empirical cases from other studies in low-carbon transitions,we show the application of the HRIS(and inclusive eco-innovation)framework.In conclusion,we provide incen-tives to explore new regional innovation systems, alongside the HRIS,adapted to different regions worldwide and centred on the inclusiveness of people and places.

文摘In combination with theoretical calculations, experiments were conducted to investigate the evolution behavior of nonmetallic inclusions(NMIs)during the manufacture of large-scale heat-resistant steel ingots using 9CrMoCoB heat-resistant steel and CaF_(2)–CaO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)–B_(2)O_(3)electroslag remelting(ESR)-type slag in an 80-t industrial ESR furnace. The main types of NMI in the consumable electrode comprised pure alumina,a multiphase oxide consisting of an Al_(2)O_(3)core and liquid CaO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)–MnO shell, and M_(23)C_(6)carbides with an MnS core. The Al_(2)O_(3)and MnS inclusions had higher precipitation temperatures than the M_(23)C_(6)-type carbide under equilibrium and nonequilibrium solidification processes. Therefore, inclusions can act as nucleation sites for carbide layer precipitation. The ESR process completely removed the liquid CaO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)–MnO oxide and MnS inclusion with a carbide shell, and only the Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions and Al_(2)O_(3)core with a carbide shell occupied the remelted ingot. The M_(23)C_(6)-type carbides in steel were determined as Cr_(23)C_(6)based on the analysis of transmission electron microscopy results. The substitution of Cr with W,Fe,or/and Mo in the Cr_(23)C_(6)lattice caused slight changes in the lattice parameter of the Cr_(23)C_(6)carbide.Therefore,Cr_(21.34)Fe_(1.66)C_(6),(Cr_(19)W_(4)C_(6),Cr_(18.4)Mo_(4.6)C_(6),and Cr_(16)Fe_(5)Mo_(2)C_(6)can match the fraction pattern of Cr_(23)C_(6)carbide.The Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions in the remelted ingot formed due to the reduction of CaO,SiO_(2),and MnO components in the liquid inclusion. The increased Al content in liquid steel or the higher supersaturation degree of Al_(2)O_(3)precipitation in the remelted ingot than that in the electrode can be attributed to the evaporation of CaF_(2)and the increase in CaO content in the ESR-type slag.

文摘Te treatment is an effective method for modifying sulfide inclusions, and MnTe precipitation has an important effect on thermal brittleness and steel corrosion resistance. In most actual industrial applications of Te treatment,MnTe precipitation is unexpected. The critical precipitation behavior of MnTe inclusions was investigated through scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, machine learning, and first-principles calculation.MnTe preferentially precipitated at the container mouth for sphere-like sulfides and at the interface between MnS grain boundaries and steel matrix for rod-like sulfides. The MnS/MnTe interface was semicoherent.A composition transition zone with a rock-salt structure exhibiting periodic changes existed to maintain the semicoherent interface. The critical precipitation behavior of MnTe inclusions in resulfurized steels involved three stages at varying temperatures.First,Mn(S,Te)precipitated during solidification.Second,MnTe with a rock-salt structure precipitated from Mn(S,Te).Third,MnTe with a hexagonal NiAs structure transformed from the rock-salt structure. The solubility of Te in MnS decreased with decreasing temperature. The critical precipitation behavior of MnTe inclusions in resulfurized steels was related to the MnS precipitation temperature. With the increase in MnS precipitation temperature, the critical Te/S weight ratio decreased. In consideration of the cost-effectiveness of Te addition for industrial production, the Te content in resulfurized steels should be controlled in accordance with MnS precipitation temperature and S content.
