Epidemic threshold influenced by non-pharmaceutical interventions in residential university environments

The control of highly contagious disease spreading in campuses is a critical challenge.In residential universities,students attend classes according to a curriculum schedule,and mainly pack into classrooms,dining halls and dorms.They move from one place to another.To simulate such environments,we propose an agent-based susceptible–infected–recovered model with time-varying heterogeneous contact networks.In close environments,maintaining physical distancing is the most widely recommended and encouraged non-pharmaceutical intervention.It can be easily realized by using larger classrooms,adopting staggered dining hours,decreasing the number of students per dorm and so on.Their real-world influence remains uncertain.With numerical simulations,we obtain epidemic thresholds.The effect of such countermeasures on reducing the number of disease cases is also quantitatively evaluated.

Optimization of nursing interventions for postoperative mental status recovery in patients with cerebral hemorrhage

BACKGROUND Hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage(HCH),the most common chronic diseases,has become a topic of global public health discussions.AIM To investigate the role of rehabilitative nursing interventions in optimizing the postoperative mental status recovery phase and to provide clinical value for future rehabilitation of patients with HCH.METHODS This randomized controlled study included 120 patients with cerebral HCH who were contained to our neurosurgery department between May 2021–May 2023 as the participants.The participants have randomly sampled and grouped into the observation and control groups.The observation group received the rehabilitation nursing model,whereas the control group have given conventional nursing.The conscious state of the patients was assessed at 7,14,21,and 30 d postoperatively.After one month of care,sleep quality,anxiety,and depression were compared between the two groups.Patient and family satisfaction were assessed using a nursing care model.RESULTS The results showed that the state of consciousness scores of the patients in both groups significantly increased(P<0.05)after surgical treatment.From the 14th day onwards,differences in the state of consciousness scores between the two groups of patients began to appear(P<0.05).After one month of care,the sleep quality,anxiety state,and depression state of patients were significantly better in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Satisfaction with nursing care was higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The rehabilitation nursing model has a more complete system compared to conventional nursing,which can effectively improve the postoperative quality of life of patients with cerebral hemorrhage and improve the efficiency of mental state recovery;however,further analysis and research are needed to provide more scientific evidence.

Early Nursing Intervention in Children with Viral Meningitis

Aim: To explore the effect of a WeChat peer education program in children with severe viral meningitis combined with respiratory failure. Design: Retrospective cohort study. Methods: Patients who had severe viral meningitis combined with respiratory failure, were admitted to the hospital from March 2017 to June 2018, and who received the WeChat-based nursing intervention were included. Patients who received routine nursing were used as controls. The family’s emotional state, self-care ability, and rehabilitation were analyzed. Results: There were 37 patients in the WeChat group (19 boys (51.3%) and 18 girls (48.7%);mean of 5.1 ± 2.4 years of age) and 37 controls (20 boys (54.1%) and 17 girls (45.9%);mean of 5.9 ± 2.4 years of age) (all P > 0.05). After nursing, improvements in the self-assessed anxiety score and self-assessed depression score were better in the WeChat group (anxiety: -29.2% vs. -20.3%, P = 0.015;depression: -25.2% vs. -15.4%, P = 0.009). After nursing, the improvements in the condition management ability scale and condition management difficulty scale scores were better in the WeChat group (ability: +80.5% vs. +44.4%. P = 0.001;difficulty: +58.4% vs. +37.8%, P = 0.003). After nursing, the improvement in the Fugl-Meyer score was better in the WeChat group (+138.0% vs. +53.0%, P Conclusion: Early nursing intervention combined with WeChat peer education can improve the emotional state of children with severe viral meningitis combined with respiratory failure and their caregivers. Impact: Viral meningitis is associated with a good prognosis, but central nervous system complications can be observed. Early intervention is the key to a good prognosis. Internet-based nursing and coaching can improve self-efficacy and care ability in patients with various conditions, as well as improve the emotional state of the children and their caregivers. The research might have an impact on any children’s hospital that deals with viral meningitis.

Research Progress on the Depression Status and Nursing Intervention in Patients after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)is an effective treatment method for myocardial ischemic necrosis.Postoperative depression caused by PCI stress will adversely affect the prognosis of patients.This article reviews the current status and influencing factors of postoperative depression after PCI and summarizes the corresponding nursing interventions,to provide a literature reference to implement effective nursing interventions for depressed patients after clinical PCI.

Analysis of the Effect of Outpatient Nursing Intervention on Hypoglycemic Treatment Effect and Psychological Emotions of Diabetic Patients

Objective:To explore the effect of outpatient nursing interventions on the hypoglycemic treatment and psychological emotions of diabetic patients.Methods:148 patients who came to our hospital for outpatient treatment from February 2022 to October 2023 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group,with 74 cases per group,according to the random number table method.The control group received routine nursing intervention,and the observation group received outpatient nursing intervention based on the control group.The two groups were observed for their effects of hypoglycemic treatment and psychological and emotional improvement before and after outpatient nursing intervention.Results:The health behavior scores of the control group were lower than that of the observation group;the post-intervention fasting blood glucose,2h postprandial blood glucose,anxiety self-rating scale(SAS),and the depression self-rating scale(SDS)of the control group were significantly higher than that of the observation group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion:Outpatient nursing intervention encouraged patients to comply with healthy behaviors and helped control blood sugar levels.Patients’anxiety,depression,and other adverse psychological states were also improved hence the outpatient nursing intervention is worthy of further promotion.

The Impact of Patient Education on the Nursing Care of Perioperative Patients in the Interventional Catheterization Room

Objective:To explore and analyze the effect of implementing a precise education model on the nursing care of perioperative patients in the interventional catheterization room.Methods:We selected 70 patients who were going to undergo surgical intervention in our hospital from August 2020 to December 2022 as the subjects for this study through random sampling.The patients were divided into a control group and an observation group,with 35 cases in each group.The control group underwent basic nursing intervention,and the observation group was given precise patient education.The nursing effects of both groups were observed.Results:After the intervention,all compliance indicators of the observation group were better than those of the control group(P<0.05).Besides,the incidence of complications in the observation group(2.86%)was lower than that of the control group(17.14%)with P<0.05.Furthermore,the patient satisfaction of the observation group(97.14%)was higher than that of the control group(82.86%),with P<0.05.Conclusion:A precise propaganda and education model facilitates the nursing of perioperative patients in the interventional catheterization room.Therefore,this practice should be popularized.

Application progress of nursing intervention in cardiac surgery

As a stressor,cardiac surgery affects the physiology and psychology of patients,as well as their postoperative recovery.Patients tend to worry about cognitive deficiency,pain,discomfort,the risk of death,sleep,complications,and other factors,resulting in stress and anxiety.Moreover,serious adverse events,such as circulatory and respiratory dysfunction and infection,tend to occur after cardiac surgery and increase the economic burden on patients.Therefore,appropriate nursing interventions should be selected to strengthen patients’cognitive levels,compliance,and postoperative practices to accelerate their recovery,reduce complications,and shorten hospital stays so as to contribute to patients’lives and health.

Dysphagia and daily oral fluids among cerebrovascular stroke patients:an theory-based nursing intervention protocol

Objective:To evaluate the improvement of dysphagia and the daily amounts of oral fluids served among people who had recently experienced a cerebrovascular stroke(CVS)after applying a nursing intervention protocol.Methods:A quasi-experimental design was used to examine 60 stroke patients who were randomly and alternatively divided equally into a study group and a control group.Gugging Swallowing Screen(GUSS)and fluid balance chart were used.Within the first 24 h of a patient’s admission,expert nurses were trained in nursing intervention protocol to manage dysphagia and daily oral fluids.Results:Post-nursing intervention,the severity of dysphagia decreased among the study group more than in the control group.Additionally,the study group began taking greater amounts of fluids by the oral route than before the nursing intervention.Conclusions:A standardized nursing intervention protocol is needed to decrease the severity of dysphagia after CVS and increase the amount of daily oral fluids.The presence of a structured theory-based nursing intervention protocol for dysphagia management will greatly contribute to decreasing the consequences of dysphagia after CVS,and can also be expected to attenuate the effects of aspiration pneumonia,dehydration,and malnutrition;further,it also increases adherence to the protocol by both nurses and patients.

Impact of an emergency department nursing intervention on continuity of care, self-care, and psychological symptoms

BACKGROUND The emergency department plays a crucial role in providing acute care to patients.Nursing interventions in this setting are essential for improving the continuity of care,enhancing patients’self-care abilities,and reducing psychological symp-toms.AIM To evaluate the effect of nursing interventions in the emergency department on these indicators in an emergency department.METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on 120 patients admitted to the emergency department between January 2022 and May 2023.The patients were divided into two groups:The control group(conventional nursing intervention)and the observation group(conventional nursing intervention+emergency department nursing intervention).The two groups were compared regarding continuity of care,self-care ability,psychological symptoms,and satisfaction with care.RESULTS The emergency department nursing interventions significantly improved the continuity of care,enhanced patients’self-care abilities,and reduced psycho-logical symptoms such as anxiety and depression.CONCLUSION Nursing interventions in the emergency department positively impact continuity of care,self-care,and psychological symptoms.However,it is important to acknowledge the limitations of this study,including the small number of studies,variable methodological quality,and the heterogeneity of the study population.Future research should address these limitations and further explore the effects of different types of nursing interventions in the emergency department.Additionally,efforts should be made to enhance the application and evaluation of these interventions in clinical practice.

Nursing model of midwifery and postural and psychological interventions:Impact on maternal and fetal outcomes and negative emotions of primiparas

BACKGROUND Primiparas are usually at high risk of experiencing perinatal depression,which may cause prolonged labor,increased blood loss,and intensified pain,affecting maternal and fetal outcomes.Therefore,interventions are necessary to improve maternal and fetal outcomes and alleviate primiparas’negative emotions(NEs).AIM To discusses the impact of nursing responsibility in midwifery and postural and psychological interventions on maternal and fetal outcomes as well as primiparas’NEs.METHODS As participants,115 primiparas admitted to Quanzhou Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital between May 2020 and May 2022 were selected.Among them,56 primiparas(control group,Con)were subjected to conventional midwifery and routine nursing.The remaining 59(research group,Res)were subjected to the nursing model of midwifery and postural and psychological interventions.Both groups were comparatively analyzed from the perspectives of delivery mode(cesarean,natural,or forceps-assisted),maternal and fetal outcomes(uterine inertia,postpartum hemorrhage,placental abruption,neonatal pulmonary injury,and neonatal asphyxia),NEs(Hamilton Anxiety/Depressionrating Scale,HAMA/HAMD),labor duration,and nursing satisfaction.RESULTS The Res exhibited a markedly higher natural delivery rate and nursing satisfaction than the Con.Additionally,the Res indicated a lower incidence of adverse events(e.g.,uterine inertia,postpartum hemorrhage,placental abruption,neonatal lung injury,and neonatal asphyxia)and shortened duration of various stages of labor.It also showed statistically lower post-interventional HAMA and HAMD scores than the Con and pre-interventional values.CONCLUSION The nursing model of midwifery and postural and psychological interventions increase the natural delivery rate and reduce the duration of each labor stage.These are also conducive to improving maternal and fetal outcomes and mitigating primiparas’NEs and thus deserve popularity in clinical practice.

Comparative Observation on Nursing Effect of Nursing Intervention and Routine Nursing in Patients with Renal Calculi and Gastric Ulcer and the Impacts on Epidermal Growth Factor

Objective: To explore the comparative observation on nursing effect of nursing intervention and routine nursing in patients with renal calculi and gastric ulcer and the impacts on epidermal growth factor. Methods: A total of 72 patients with renal calculi and gastric ulcer were selected and treated in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2018. They were divided into the observation group and the control group, 36 for each. Comprehensive nursing intervention was implemented in the observation group, whereas routine nursing was implemented in the control group. The level of epidermal growth factor, nursing satisfaction, renal calculi recurrence rate, average hospital stay and postoperative blood loss were compared between the two groups after nursing. Results: There was no significant difference in the level of epidermal growth factor between the two groups before nursing (P > 0.05), while after nursing, the level in the observation group was higher compared with the control group, and the difference between the two groups was significant (P Conclusion: With regard to patients with renal calculi and gastric ulcer, comprehensive nursing intervention can improve nursing satisfaction and quality of patients’ lives, reduce calculi recurrence rate, and increase the level of epidermal growth factor, which has clinical application value.

Effect of Comprehensive Nursing Intervention in Patients with Urinary Incontinence After Radical Prostatectomy

Objective:To explore and analyze the clinical effect of comprehensive nursing intervention in patients with urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy.Methods:84 patients with urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy admitted to the Urology Department between May 2021 and May 2023 were included in this study.The patients were divided into a comprehensive group and a control group,with 42 cases in each group through a double-blind mechanism.The comprehensive group received comprehensive nursing care,and the control group received primary nursing care.The duration of indwelling urinary catheters and urinary incontinence;psychological performance and living conditions were compared between the two groups.Results:The duration of the indwelling urinary catheter and urinary incontinence of the patients in the comprehensive group were significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).Before nursing,there was no statistically significant difference in the anxiety,depression,and other psychological manifestations between the two groups(P>0.05);after nursing,the comprehensive group’s anxiety,depression,and other psychological manifestations of the comprehensive group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Before nursing,there was no statistically significant difference in the physical function,mental state,emotional state,and physical recovery of the patients between both groups(P>0.05);after nursing,the physical function,mental state,emotional state,physical recovery of the patients in the comprehensive group were significantly better than those of the control group.Besides,the living conditions of the patients in the comprehensive group were also significantly better than the control group’s(P<0.05).Conclusion:Comprehensive nursing intervention can effectively improve symptoms of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy,reduce inner pressure,and improve living standards.

Effect of Individualized Nursing Intervention on Patients with Tuberculosis Latent Infection and Active Tuberculosis

Objective:This paper aims to explore the effect of individualized nursing intervention on patients with active tuberculosis(ATB)and latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI).Methods:The nursing study started in January 2020 and ended in January 2023.A total of 60 patients with ATB and LTBI were included,and they were divided into two groups according to the intervention schemes selected for control testing,each with 30 cases.The intervention program selected for group A was routine care,and for group B was individualized nursing.The proportion of adverse reactions,changes in the level of lung items,self-management outcomes and satisfaction were evaluated and compared.Results:After evaluating the proportion of adverse reactions,the total proportion of ATB and LTBI in group B was lower than that in group A(P<0.05).Based on the evaluation and testing of the expiratory flow(EF),expiratory volume(EV),and vital capacity(VC)after the intervention,these levels in group B showed higher outcomes than those in group A(P<0.05).The scores in terms of living habits,sleep,diet,and compliance in group B were higher than those in group A(P<0.05).The total proportion of the satisfaction of ATB and LTBI patients in group B was higher than that in group A(P<0.05).Conclusion:After the intervention of individualized nursing measures in patients with ATB and LTBI,it was found that it can not only play a positive role in the prevention and control of adverse reactions,but also improve their lung function,and promote their self-management,with good satisfaction level,thus it has high research and clinical application values.

Application Value of Nursing Intervention for Patients with Pancreatitis After Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)

Objective:To explore and analyze the application value of nursing intervention for patients with pancreatitis after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP).Methods:From May 2022 to May 2023,100 patients with pancreatitis after ERCP who were admitted to the General Surgery Department of our hospital were selected as the research objects,they were divided into a research group and a general group by flipping coins,with 50 cases in each group.The research group received nursing intervention,and the general group received general nursing.The postoperative index recovery time,quality of life,and emotional performance were compared between the two groups.Results:The blood amylase recovery time,abdominal pain recovery time,white blood cell recovery time,and hospitalization time in the research group were significantly lower than those in the general group(P<0.05).Before intervention,the physical function,social factors,physiological performance,emotional state,and other quality of life indicators were compared between the groups,and there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05);after intervention,the mentioned quality of life indicators were significantly better than that of the general group(P<0.05).Before intervention,the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)scores between the groups were compared,and there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05);after intervention,the SAS and SDS scores of the research group were significantly better than those of the general group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of nursing intervention in patients with pancreatitis after ERCP has high clinical value and specific practical significance.

Analysis of the Role of Nursing Intervention in Operating Room in the Prevention of Incision Infection in Orthopedic Aseptic Surgery

Objective:To explore and analyze the role of nursing in the operating room in the prevention of incision infection in aseptic orthopedic surgery.Methods:68 patients that underwent aseptic orthopedic surgery in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2022.They were divided into a research group(n=34)and a control group(n=34)by the random number table method.The patients in the control group received conventional nursing intervention in the operating room,and the patients in the study group received the optimized and modified nursing intervention in the operating room;then,the related indicators of nursing intervention of the two groups were compared.Results:The incidence of incision infection in the study group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the average duration of surgery and length of stay the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05);the stress response indexes of patients in the study group were lower than those in the control group 24 hours after operation(P<0.05);the degree of satisfaction of the patients in the study group to the services provided by the nursing staff was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:High-quality nursing intervention in the operating room for aseptic orthopedic surgery patients can significantly reduce the incidence of incision infection,reduce the stress response caused by surgery,shorten the duration of surgery and length of stay,and improve nursing satisfaction,which makes it worthy of popularization.

Effect of Nursing Intervention Based on Caprini Risk Assessment Scale for Venous Thromboembolism in Perioperative Patients with Liver Cancer

Objective:To explore the effect of nursing intervention based on Caprini risk assessment scale for venous thromboembolism(VTE)in perioperative patients with liver cancer.Methods:A total of 128 hepatocellular cancer(HCC)patients who were hospitalized in our department from January 2021 to March 2022 and met the research criteria were selected.According to odd and even numbers in the order of inclusion,64 cases were divided into two groups:a control group and an observation group.The control group received routine nursing intervention during perioperative period,while the observation group received nursing intervention based on Caprini risk assessment scale for VTE.The incidence of VTE and complications were compared between the two groups.Results:The incidence of VTE and postoperative complications in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Nursing intervention based on Caprini risk assessment scale for VTE can reduce the incidence of perioperative deep vein thrombosis and complications in patients with liver cancer;thus,it is worthy of clinical application.

The Construction of Integrated Nursing Model Prevention of Oxaliplatin Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Nerve Injury

Objective: To investigate the effect of the integrated nursing model in the prevention of chemotherapy-induced peripheral injury. Methods: A total of 60 tumor patients receiving oxaliplatin for 1 - 6 cycles of chemotherapy from January to September 2023 were selected. 30 patients were selected from January to March and divided into the control group, and 30 patients were selected from July to 9 as the experimental group. The control group received conventional chemotherapy nursing, while the experimental group received integrated nursing. Anxiety, peripheral nerve toxicity stage and quality of life score were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results: After intervention, the scores of the self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the total scores of the oxaliplatin Levi specific sensory neurotoxicity scale in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05);The Quality of Life Scale (FACT-G) score of cancer patients was higher than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion: The integrated nursing model can effectively reduce the anxiety of patients, reduce the incidence of peripheral nerve injury and improve the quality of life of patients.

Analysis of the Significance of Key Points of Patient Interventional Psychological Care and Pain Care

Analysis of the Effect of Continuous Nursing Care in Patients with COPD

Objective:to study the effect of continuous nursing intervention in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:In this paper,56 COPD patients were selected and grouped by drawing lots,with 28 cases in each group.The study group underwent continuous nursing intervention,while the control group underwent conventional care,and the parameters of both groups of patients were compared.Results:Compared with the control group,the patients in the study group had a significantly higher forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity ratio(FEV1/FVC),a significantly lower COPD Assessment Test(CAT)score,and Hamilton Depression(HAM-D)score,and a significantly higher 6-Minute Walk Test(6WMT)score after nursing care.Besides,their self-care ability score and SaO_(2)were significantly higher,while their PaCO_(2)and coagulation indexes were significantly lower(P<0.05).Conclusion:Continuous nursing intervention is beneficial for COPD patients.

The development of intervention nursing in China

Intervention nursing emerged in China in the 1980 s.It has been developing rapidly since then,along with interventional radiology,and has become an indispensable professional discipline in clinical nursing.In this paper,the author focuses on the initiation and development of intervention wards in a Chinese context and how the development of the topic in scientific research,periodical publications,and academic exchanges shows that intervention nursing in China is moving toward specialization,standardization,and scientificalization,and is gradually getting known in the international intervention nursing community via these international conferences which provide a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas.
