Air Quality Estimation Using Nonhomogeneous Markov Chains: A Case Study Comparing Two Rules Applied to Mexico City Data

A nonhomogeneous Markov chain is applied to the study of the air quality classification in Mexico City when the so-called criterion pollutants are used. We consider the indices associated with air quality using two regulations where different ways of classification are taken into account. Parameters of the model are the initial and transition probabilities of the chain. They are estimated under the Bayesian point of view through samples generated directly from the corresponding posterior distributions. Using the estimated parameters, the probability of having an air quality index in a given hour of the day is obtained.

SOLUTIONS FOR A NONHOMOGENEOUS ELLIPTIC PROBLEM INVOLVING CRITICAL SOBOLEV-HARDY EXPONENT IN R^N

THE INVISCID AND NON-RESISTIVE LIMIT IN THE CAUCHY PROBLEM FOR 3-D NONHOMOGENEOUS INCOMPRESSIBLE MAGNETO-HYDRODYNAMICS

In this paper,the inviscid and non-resistive limit is justified for the local-in-time solutions to the equations of nonhomogeneous incompressible magneto-hydrodynamics （MHD）in R3.We prove that as the viscosity and resistivity go to zero,the solution of the Cauchy problem for the nonhomogeneous incompressible MHD system converges to the solution of the ideal MHD system.The convergence rate is also obtained simultaneously.

MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS FOR NONHOMOGENEOUS SCHRDINGER-POISSON EQUATIONS WITH SIGN-CHANGING POTENTIAL

In this article, we study the following nonhomogeneous Schrodinger-Poissone quations{-△u＋λV（x）u＋K（x）Фu=f（x,u）＋g（x）,x∈R^3,-△Ф=k（x）u^2, x∈R^3}where λ 〉 0 is a parameter. Under some suitable assumptions on 11, K, f and g, the existence of multiple solutions is proved by using the Ekeland＇s variational principle and the Mountain Pass Theorem in critical point theory. In particular, the potential V is allowed to be signchanging.

Free vibrations of simply supported nonhomogeneous isotropic rectangular plates of bilinearly varying thickness and elastically restrained edges against rotation using Rayleigh-Ritz method

This paper addresses the free transverse vibrations of thin simply supported nonhomogeneous isotropic rectangular plates of bilinearly varying thickness with elastically restrained edges against rotation. The Gram-Schmidt process has been used to generate two-dimensional boundary characteristic orthogonal polynomials, which have been used in the Rayleigh-Ritz method to study the problem. The lowest three frequencies have been computed for various values of nonhomogeneous parameters, thickness parameters, aspect ratio and flexibility parameters. A comparison of the results with those available in the literature has been made. Three-dimensional mode shapes for the specified plate have been presented.

LOCAL WELL-POSEDNESS OF STRONG SOLUTIONS FOR THE NONHOMOGENEOUS MHD EQUATIONS WITH A SLIP BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

This article is concerned with the 3 D nonhomogeneous incompressible magnetohydrodynamics equations with a slip boundary conditions in bounded domain.We obtain weighted estimates of the velocity and magnetic field,and address the issue of local existence and uniqueness of strong solutions with the weaker initial data which contains vacuum states.

Large time asymptotics for solutions to a nonhomogeneous Burgers equation

In this article, the solutions to a nonhomogeneous Burgers equation subject to bounded and compactly supported initial profiles are constructed. In an interesting study, Kloosterziel （Journal of Engineering Mathematics 24, 213-236 （1990）） represented a solution to an initial value problem （IVP） for the heat equation, with an initial data in a class of rapidly decaying functions, as a series of self-similar solutions to the heat equation. This approach quickly revealed the large time behaviour for the solution to the IVP. Inspired by Kloosterziel＇s approach, the solution to the nonhomogeneous Burgers equation is expressed in terms of the self-similar solutions to the heat equation. The large time behaviour of the solutions to the nonhomogeneous Burgers equation is obtained.

THE COMBINED INVISCID AND NON-RESISTIVE LIMIT FOR THE NONHOMOGENEOUS INCOMPRESSIBLE MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC EQUATIONS WITH NAVIER BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

In this paper, we establish the existence of the global weak solutions for the non-homogeneous incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with Navier boundary condi-tions for the velocity field and the magnetic field in a bounded domain Ω R^3. Furthermore,we prove that as the viscosity and resistivity coefficients go to zero simultaneously, these weaksolutions converge to the strong one of the ideal nonhomogeneous incompressible magneto-hydrodynamic equations in energy space.

Improved Multistage Wiener Filters in Nonhomogeneous Clutter Environments

A new method combining space-time preprocessing with multistage Wiener filters（STPMWF）is proposed to improve the performance of space-time adaptive processing（STAP）in nonhomogeneous clutter scenario.The new scheme only requires the data from the primary range bin,thus it can suppress discrete interferers efficiently,without calculating the inverse of covariance matrix.Comparing to the original MWF approach,the proposed scheme can be regarded as practical solutions for robust and effective STAP of nonhomogeneous radar data.The theoretical analysis shows that our STPMWF is simple in implementation and fast in convergence.The numeric results by using simulated data exhibit a good agreement with the proposed theory.

THE CONVERGENCE OF NONHOMOGENEOUS MARKOV CHAINS IN GENERAL STATE SPACES BY THE COUPLING METHOD

We investigate the convergence of nonhomogeneous Markov chains in general state space by using the f norm and the coupling method,and thus,a sufficient condition for the convergence of nonhomogeneous Markov chains in general state space is obtained.

GLOBAL STRONG SOLUTION AND EXPONENTIAL DECAY OF 3D NONHOMOGENEOUS ASYMMETRIC FLUID EQUATIONS WITH VACUUM

We prove the global existence and exponential decay of strong solutions to the three-dimensional nonhomogeneous asymmetric fluid equations with nonnegative density provided that the initial total energy is suitably small.Note that although the system degenerates near vacuum,there is no need to require compatibility conditions for the initial data via time-weighted techniques.

AN EXACT ELEMENT METHOD FOR BENDING OF NONHOMOGENEOUS THIN PLATES

In this paper, based on the step reduction method, a new method, the exact element method for constructing finite element, is presented. Since the new method doesn 't need the variational principle, it can be applied to solve non-positive and positive definite partial differential equations with arbitrary variable coefficient. By this method, a triangle noncompatible element with 6 degrees of freedom is derived to solve the bending of nonhomogeneous plate. The convergence of displacements and stress resultants which have satisfactory numerical precision is proved. Numerical examples are given at the end of this paper, which indicate satisfactory results of stress resultants and displacements can be obtained by the present method.

Scattering of SH Wave by a Crack in Nonhomogeneous Interlayer

Regarding an interface as a Brekhovskisk’s nonhomogeneous interlayer,the scatteringproblem of SH wave by a crack at the interlayer has been discussd.It is found that the solutionof the wave fields in the vicinity of crack may be reduced to solving a singular integral equationof the first kind with Cauchy kernel,which has thoroughly been investigated theoretically andnumerically.Finally,the experssions for calculating stress intensity factor at the crack tip havebeen proposed.

Stochastic Stabilization for Nonhomogeneous Markovian Jump Discrete-Time Singular Systems

Stochastic stability analysis and control synthesis problems are studied for a class of nonhomogeneous Markovian jump discretetime singular systems( MJDSS). The time-varying character is considered to be the model in a polytopic sense. Based on the parameter dependent stochastic Lyapunov functional and the matrix analysis techniques, sufficient criteria are derived to ensure regularity, causality and stochastic stability of the closed-loop singular system in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally,one example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Positive solutions of second-order differential systems with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions

This paper is to investigate the positive solutions of the systems of second-order ordinary differential equations with nonhomogeneous multi-point boundary conditions. By the lower and upper solutions method, Schauder fixed point theorem and fixed point index theory, under certain conditions, it is proved that there exist appropriate regions of parameters in which the problem has at least two, at least one or no positive solution.

T1 THEOREM FOR BESOV SPACES ON NONHOMOGENEOUS SPACES

Suppose μ is a Radon measure on R^d, which may be non doubling. The only condition assumed on μ is a growth condition, namely, there is a constant Co 〉 0 such that for all x ∈ supp（μ） and r 〉 0, μ（B（x, r）） ≤ Cor^n, where 0 〈 n ≤ d. We prove T1 theorem for non doubling measures with weak kernel conditions. Our approach yields new results for kernels satisfying weakened regularity conditions, while recovering previously known Tolsa＇s results. We also prove T1 theorem for Besov spaces on nonhomogeneous spaces with weak kernel conditions given in [7] .

A MOVING CRACK IN A NONHOMOGENEOUS MATERIAL STRIP

This paper considers an anti-plane moving crack in a nonhomogeneous material strip of finite thickness. The shear modulus and the mass density of the strip are considered for a class of functional forms for which the equilibrium equation has analytical solutions. The problem is solved by means of the singular integral equation technique. The stress field near the crack tip is obtained. The results are plotted to show the effect of the material non-homogeneity and crack moving velocity on the crack tip field. Crack bifurcation behaviour is also discussed. The paper points out that use of an appropriate fracture criterion is essential for studying the stability of a moving crack in nonhomogeneous materials. The prediction whether the unstable crack growth will be enhanced or retarded is strongly dependent on the type of the fracture criterion used. Based on the analysis, it seems that the maximum ＇anti-plane shear＇ stress around the crack tip is a suitable failure criterion for moving cracks in nonhomogeneous materials.

THE GENERAL SOLUTION FOR AXIAL SYMMETRICAL BENDING OF NONHOMOGENEOUS CIRCULAR PLATES RESTING ON AN ELASTIC FOUNDATION

In this paper, a new method, the exact analytic method, is presented on the basis of step reduction method. By this method, the general solution for the bending of nonhomogenous circular plates and circular plates with a circular hole at the center resting, on an elastfc foundation is obtained under arbitrary axial symmetrical loads' and boundary conditions. The uniform convergence of the solution is proved. This general solution can also he applied directly to the bending of circular plates without elastic foundation. Finally, it is only necessary to solve a set of binary linear algebraic equation. Numerical examples are given at the end of this paper which indicate satisfactory results of stress resultants and displacements can be obtained by the present method.

LOCAL EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF STRONG SOLUTIONS TO THE TWO DIMENSIONAL NONHOMOGENEOUS INCOMPRESSIBLE PRIMITIVE EQUATIONS

In this article,we study the initial boundary value problem of the two-dimensional nonhomogeneous incompressible primitive equations and obtain the local existence and uniqueness of strong solutions.The initial vacuum is allowed.

MULTIVARIATE SURVIVAL DISTRIBUTIONS OF AGE AND RESIDUAL LIFETIME PROCESSES IN NONHOMOGENEOUS POISSON PROCESS

In the present-paper the expressions of n-dimensional survival distribution functions of the processes {δ and γ, and their Lebesgue decompositions are derived.
